Surroundings
Aarschot lies in Het Hageland in the province of Flemish Brabant. The town is dominated by the tower of the 14th century Notre Dame built in the Demer gothic style, which is typical of the region. Another attraction in Aarschot is the restored beguinage. The very hilly Hageland region is one of the three recognized wine regions in Belgium. At 10 km from Aarschot lies the charming village Wezemaal, where the visitor centre of the Hageland wine is located. This is the starting point of the 8 km long vineyard mountain walk, which runs along vineyards, fruit orchards and a nature reserve.
