Hotel Goerres Akkrum makes guests feel welcome from the very first moment. The staff will do their utmost to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The beautiful hotel is located on the banks of the old 'Boorne' river, which is overlooked by a number of hotel rooms. At the back of the hotel there is a nice riverside terrace, which is a great place to relax with a nice drink. The hotel's kitchen has been renowned in Friesland and beyond for its numerous Frisian specialities. In this kitchen the staff cooks with passion, and this can be smelt, seen, and tasted. The hotel rooms are warm and comfortable and you will be sleeping on a boxspring bed. The rooms are further equipped with a shower, toilet, television and a telephone. Also, every room has a free Internet connection.
The lovely new conservatory on the waterfront is the perfect location for the stylish accommodation that can house a business or private meeting for up to 40 persons. In combination with the restaurant, the maximum capacity of the conservatory is 120 people. At the hotel you can also rent a boat to take a nice tour of the many waterways in the area. The fishing boats and tourboats are even equipped with a captain's log and a water map of the hotel's surroundings. At the hotel there are bikes for rent as well.
Food and Drinks
Those who come to the atmospheric restaurant will only need to see the interior decoration to conclude that the hotel's sympathetic owners are great watersports enthusiasts. There is even a beer tap in the shape of a sail boat. The savory breakfast buffet is set up between 07:00 and 10:00 h. Behind the restaurant lies the lovely water terrace of Hotel Goerres. During the summer guests can eat and drink here while enjoying the view of the water and the passing boats. Restaurant Goerres has been cooking with love and passion since 1961. Many traditional Frisian dishes and fresh fish specialities are served here. In the summer the famous mussel pan is on the menu. A dinner in restaurant Goerres is a pleasant culinary experience, which is further enhanced by the staff's personal and friendly approach.
Please note: from 1 October - 1 April the restaurant is closed on Monday.

Surroundings
Nowadays Akkrum is a lively watersports village with excellent attractions, such as an atmopsheric shopping centre and numerous cafés and restaurants. The wonderful historic buildings still testify to times gone by. If you rent a boat from the hotel, you can sail the 'Turfroute'. This lovely route through peat land starts in Akkrum. In the neighbouring village Nes the cemetary boasts an interesting tower with a plain roof and large hanging bells. This was called a 'poor man's tower', as it offered the less fortunate the chance to ring bells on special occasions.
