Alkmaar is known for its cheese market and museum, but has lots more to offer. The city has beautiful monumental buildings, such as the Waag (weighhouse) and the large Sint Laurens church. Alkmaar is also known for its canals, attractive narrow streets, and the many courtyards. It has good connections to the larger cities in the area. For example, Amsterdam is only 40 minutes away by car or train.

The rooms of the hotel are equipped with, among other things, a shower and bath, telephone, safe, internet connection, minibar, hair dryer, television with Pay-TV and coffee and tea making facilities. The suites have an additional bath or jacuzzi, bathrobe and slippers and a large desk. In the conference suite guests can organise a meeting of up to 10 guests; this room can be arranged to suit your needs.

Anonymous Not a 4-star hotel: 27 June 2011; 8.8; + Convenient for Alkmaar town centre; - 1. No food room service 2. No restaurant 3. Hence from 1 and 2: not a 4-star hotel 4. Breakfast room too small for the number of rooms -- no table for 15 minutes on one day. 5. Breakfast buffet very basic for a so-called 4-star hotel.

We always enjoy our stay in the Amrath (Alkmaar) The hotel is in an exellent location and is within walking distance of the railway station, as well as the cultural and shopping areas.; - Would prefer if the breakfast was more reasonably priced.

Graham Good choice!!: 14 October 2010; 9.8; + Really nice hotel, chosen at random through the Internet. Very handy to the town centre - we walked there; - Limited parking, which was at a cost. We ended up parking on the street 100m. away. We arrived on a Saturday, not sure how this would have worked out on a weekday.

PHILIP SYKES Lovley,friendly hotel in a beautiful town: 31 August 2010; 8.8; + This is a lovely hotel very close to the centre of Alkmaar.The rooms are very well presented , ours had a balcony with a very nice view.The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good; - No food available in the evenings so you have to go into Alkmaar even if you don't feel like it!

The rooms are large and spotlessly clean. The breakfast is good. I would recommend this hotel and definitely stay here again.; - The lighting in the bathroom is too dim - other hotels in the Netherlands have this problem too. It's better to bring your own hairdrier - the one provided isn't very good.

Glenn Kelly Go on, have a go at this hotel! You wonÂ´t be disappointed!: 6 May 2010; 10; + We travelled with a 4,5 month old baby. We were allowed to check in a bit earlier and the baby could settle in after 36 hrs of travel. Very friendly staff, great service, fantastic breakfast, good cleaning personel. Nice rooms, close to centre of town and station. Nice hotel bar. Very pleased with this hotel and we will come back here when we travel to Alkmaar again.; - No Wi-Fi available in hotel room, only broadband that you have to plug in. We traveled with Ipod which can only use Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi available in hotel bar tho, so good excuse for a nice drink in the evening.

Frans de Beurs Excellent choice hotel in Alkmaar: 18 June 2009; 10; + Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was spotless and shower was easily adjusted. Location short walking distance from centre of town. New hotel. Breakfast was good with sufficient selection; - Guest has to pay attention to set the thermostat of the water heating system to the desired temperature

We have stayed in the Alkmaar Amrath twice and we look forward to staying there again.; - If there has to be a minus point it would be that the price of the breakfast is unreasonable.

Bas: 20 July 2008; 8.6; + Clean and spacious rooms, long bed, good matrass (I am 1,98m and the bed was long enough). Same applies to the bath: big! Very spacious and clean bathroom. Breakfast was good: several types of bread, sweet bread and croissants, eggs, saucages, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurts, coffee, tea, milk, juice. We were here 1 night for 99 Eur incl breakfast. I think this is very good value for money!

Perhaps different levels of service could be offered or you need to price it more reasonably. We simply passed it by but would definitely have been tempted if it was 10 euros or so.

Hendriëtte Nijenbanning: 8 July 2007; 7.8; + Ruime kamer+ ruime balkon. Koffie/thee op de kamer. Schone badruimte. Ondanks de drukte werd het ontbijtbuffet goed bijgevuld.; - Geen balkonmeubilair. Receptionistes niet allemaal even behulpzaam, maakten niet altijd gemotiveerde indruk.

Het was niet te koud, maar had iets warmer gekund.

De service van het ontbijt was ronduit slecht. Ze geven aan tot 11.00 uur en om 10.15 uur is er veel niet meer te krijgen, ook niet bij navraag. Onvriendelijke bediening. En voor 15 euro een zeer miniem ontbijt.

Met een kleine bijbetaling mochten we de kamer tot 17.00 uur houden! Helemaal top! Komen hier zeker nog eens terug!; - Het ontbijt had iets uitgebreider gekunt voor een 4 sterren hotel. Er lag erg veel stof in de hotelkamer. ( op het meubilair )
