Surroundings
The historic centre of Alkmaar houses numerous monuments, such as the city hall. The city also offers nice shops and cosy cafés. On Friday mornings from April through September you can enjoy the traditional cheese market in Alkmaar. The cheese museum in the 'Waag' building offers additional information on the preparation of cheese.
Food and Drinks
In the morning an extensive breakfast awaits the guests between 08:00 and 10:30 h.
Restaurant Alkmaar aan Zee serves vis specialties and is open daily except for Tuesdays. There is also a restaurant in the adjacent premises.
In the cosy bar you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass wine from Thursday through Sunday.

Service average. Breakfast bar opened too late for us; when we were at the door at 07.30 we found it locked. Bridal suite has an open toilet: not necessarily the most romantic start of your night! Besides, the spa didn't work and didn't drain.

good bed and adequate facilities. service friendly but a bit chaotic. Very convenient for the city centre and historic district.

noisy - 1 outside from traffic, coming and going from the central car park for the red light street and other late night entertainments. 2- inside noise from the room above - several nights it was a family with young children, other nights it seemed to be a sex customer leaving about 6am. Poor standard of cleaning. Sink drained very slowly. It took two days to get a light bulb changed.

we were in the room called "chablis" to the 2nd floor : extremely noisy between our room and upstairs. We could hear the slightest movement of our neighbors because of a noise floor and permeable to noise. overlooking a parking car, thankfully quiet at night. Non-equipped kitchen, even drinking tea.

I think that you need to have tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms. The breakfast could include some fresh fruit and yoghurt.Also the bedrooms could do with some stronger lighting for getting ready at night as you can't see very well.

my son had a tummy bug and the tall lady with blonde hair was so kind and helpful, washing his blanket and teddy etc, we really appreciated it and she was so helpful generally.

because the exchange rate is so poor with the pound and euro at the moment it was so more expensive by the time we arrived. we understand thats not your fault but we wish it could be a fixed rate in your own currency at the time of booking.
