Description
The beautifully restored former prison Huis van Bewaring (house of detention) is situated in the heart of Almelo. It has been successfully transformed into a nice hotel. The hotel features spacious rooms with a large bed, decorated with warm colors that bring about a romantic character. There are also a lounge and a cosy terrace. Guests can use the kitchen to make coffee or tea, or visit the bar for other drinks.
Hotel Huis van Bewaring is located in the centre of Almelo, near shops, cafés and restaurants, a cinema and theatre. The hotel is easily accessible by public transport, both bus and train. The bus stop is 50 meters away and the train station lies at 300 meters distance. The hotel has a secure bike storage facility. The surroundings offer great opportunities for beautiful walks, bike rides or a canoe trip through the landscape of the Twente region.
Food and Drinks
Each morning from 06:30 h. you can enjoy breakfast. In consultation it is also possible to have breakfast earlier. On request, you can get a packed lunch.
There is a bar in the hotel. You can order drinks until midnight. Guests can obtain complimentary coffee and tea sachets in the former interrogation room.

- The hotel does not have a 24-hour reception. Guests can check-in until midnight. In case you would like to check-in after midnight, you need to contact the reception in advance.

Surroundings
The surroundings are ideal for walking, cycling and canoeing. From Huis van Bewaring you reach Enschede and the German border with half an hour drive.
Around Almelo are several canals, ideal for boat or canoe trips. From the city centre you can walk or cycle directly into the green countryside of Twente. The attractions in the city of Almelo include city farm Het Wevershuisje, the Bolletje Shop with an authentic coffee shop and the City Museum of Almelo. In the centre are a number of galleries as well.
