basic but cheap
very close to station, bars and red light district. also good shower with plenty of hot water.
very basic, no clean towels and noisy (we were next to the cleaning cupboard and were woken early by whoever was doing the cleaning). dont bother asking for a no smoking room as they allow smoking in all their rooms.

good place if you're not picky.
i had the whole floor to myself once the party-goers left at the end of the weekend. it was comfortable and the location was excellent.
i chose this hotel because i was told they had wi-fi, i was not able to access the internet from the hotel. i also chose the hotel because they were "smoker-friendly," the signs on the doors of the rooms say hash and grass are allowed in the bar but when i tried to smoke in the bar they told me it wasn't allowed anywhere in the hotel. the first night i stayed, a saturday, i could hear multiple people in multiple rooms being loud, slamming doors, throwing up in the bathrooms, running up and down the stairs... the walls are so thin you can hear all conversation in all surrounding rooms. this went on literally all night until check-out the next morning.

Great! A+ for small budgets
Great location, excellent price. In the very heart of Centrum Amsterdam, 2 min from Central Station and 2 min from Red Light District. The bar on the ground floor is quite cool and drinks are cheap. You are allowed to smoke whatever you want in the rooms, in case you want. Thank you very much, I had a great time.
Can get really noisy during the night, don't bother bringing earbuds because the hotel provides them for free. Don't travel with a lot of suitcases; there is no elevator and the stairs... you'll see.

A terrific option for tight budgets.
They allow smoking in the rooms, and mine had a bad leftover smell of pot. Also, it's in a very noisy area, but the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs.

Clean with tiny rooms
staff is friendly and helpful. the ground floor is a cool bar, live music 3 days a week and many kinds of beer.
my room was really really tiny, barely 3 square meters. when i checked in they wanted the full payment in advance, which is unusual. the price seemed quite high for a room with no bath.

Simply okay but not as expected...
Good and simple breakfast, friendly hosting, newspaper, clean and very well located.
In the picures you see a single bed but they have none, it's all "bunk" beds (on top of each other). I Wouldn't have booked if I had known. WIFI does not work in the rooms (Do not advertise if it's not working, please).

It's nice to feel that the employees care
I was so happy with the girls at the reception. Friendly and smiling, willing to help when asked. Immediate service (I only remember the name Jeanine, but the other girl was also quite nice). Quiet place, comfortable stay. I appreciate that I was allowed to stay at a 1st floor room instead of a 3rd floor, because I hap a heavy luggage, without extra charge. The best part was the already-marked map, which showed the sights and the bus number that would take you there. Cool!
I know you hear this all the time, but isn't it possible to install an elevator? It was almost impossible to bring my luggage down - and quite dangerous. I kept thinking 'what if something happens now, who will be paying for the hospital?' And I also think that there were some stains on my bed cover.

Basic hotel for young brits on a tight budget, that wana get high.
We were allowed to smoke weed out the back of the hotel!! good for young people that wana have a laugh and like to smoke cannabis as there is lots of coffee shops near by and pubs! Very nice staff.clean towel and room everyday.free breakfast! location literally round the corner from red light district.if your just lookin for somewhere half decent to crash out after going out on a crazy one, this is for u.good for couples. There was a good variety of drinks in the morning, tea, hot chocolate, apple, orange, pinapple, tropical etc.Nothing got stolen from us! just an all round good hotel> veRy happY dayZ man! we miss it! good price!
Small cramped room.very basic.had to give in key every time we went out, which was a little uncomforting, but we always kept our most important stuff on us so we didnt really mind.got a bit of a rash from a horrible itchy blanket on the bed, so we just didnt use it and used the other ones on the bed.the breakfast was good for free but the only hot food was hard boiled eggs! no fry up or even toast.shared shower, but at least it was hot and clean.not much really, maybe not so good for older people or bigger families.steep stairs but thats everywhere u go in amsterdam.

central, friendly staff, we had a five bed room was fine for the purpose of myself and my friends for late nights.. the staff were also very accommodating in serving very late drinks.. cheers guys!
ninety euro each (450) for a five bed bedroom with a bathroom is a bit steep, but everything else was fine..

It is cheap and definetely not cheerful
Let me think, errr, let me think again.....Damned there must have been something about this? the price is lowish, but not low enough to compete with the hostels and personally in the future I would crack another 20 Euros and get something resembling a hotel.
For the price you suspect will know not be getting much: you are correct. The hotel looks very old, not very well maintained and a bit dirty throughout. Since it was winter it is worth mentioning that it was cold, drafts comming from rotting window frame, musty smell throughout. Only 2 light bulbs in the light fittings added to the general air of gloom. Beds are tiny and not too bad. The winning bit? As with other people: the plumbing packed in and there was only freezing water, so no shower available . Also when we arrived we were told that we could leave baggage in the hotel after check out, this means leaving your luggage, on the floor in front of a counter that is largely un-manned so that anybody can help themselves.... The absolute worse that made me angry so was the unfriendliness: it knew no bound. The woman in charge (East European, I think) was an absolute B****, I do not say this lighlty: her entire attitude and body language screems : I hate the public in general and you in particular.....She managed to be slow (ignore people for 30 mn at breakfast), patronizing (spoke to us as we were 18 years who had never been out of our houses) , quite rude and as you imagine, it was a delight to have her dealing with the plumbing breakdown. As we left, a new member of staff came in who was sunny and friendly, it makes a bit difference but for me it was too late: never again.
