Hotel Aalborg Amsterdam is a cosy 3-star hotel in the south of the city centre. The good connections to the centre and the quiet position near the 'Sarphatipark' make the hotel extremely suitable for a cultural visit to the sparkling inner city.

The pleasant family hotel was renovated completely in 2005 and is equipped with all modern comforts. The Sarphati park, adjacent to the hotel, offers a true sanctuary of peace and tranquillity and covers over 11 acres in the residential area of the 'Pijp'. The connections to the city centre are fast and frequent but a beautiful stroll downtown will definitely move you.

Hotel Aalborg Amsterdam was founded in 1952 and renovated completely in 2006. The rooms are all equipped with private bathroom (toilet & shower), on request rooms with a bath can be reserved. Provided with all the comforts, such as a telephone, television, hair dryer and ceiling fans, the rooms offer a world of convenience. A visit to the city can be accomplished easily by renting a bicycle at the hotel or have the staff book theatre or concert tickets for you. To get the most out of your stay, luggage can be stored at the hotel, ensuring a carefree farewell of the beautiful city.

Food and Drinks

The cosy, residential area the 'Pijp' offers a wide variety of culinary delights. Numerous restaurants serve dishes from all over the world. Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 10:00 h. If the weather permits it breakfast can be enjoyed in the garden and the day can be ended in style here with a refreshing drink. The garden is open until 21:00 h.

In the lobby a public computer can be used and wireless Internet is available throughout the hotel. Both are available at a fee.

Good for budget, noisey

The Hotel was cleean and the staff was very pleasent. They did have a "real" full bed, which in other hotels I have been given a room with two regular beds pushed together. The Bed was also very firm. My room, and I'm guessing others on the first floor, have some access to the wireless internet offered downstairs at no charge.

The walls were so thin that other peoples conversations could be heard clearly in the next room. The toilet was posistioned so close to the shower as to make sitting on it a difficult task. There is a school near by from which children can be heard as early as 9am. I have a great tolorance for noise, but it was to much to sleep through. Personally, I believe I would be happier paying an aditional 20-30 Euros and having a room with more sound proofing.

BEWARE BE WARNED!!!

Cheap. They blocked money on my card, then told me it wasn't authorised and I had to pay cash. So I did. The I checked my card and they had blocked an amount, which they then blamed the card company. Card company balmes merchant. Either way, they MY SPENDING MONEY. What a lovely time, broke, in Amsterdam!

BEWARE- They will block the quoted amount for your stay from your card. Upon arrival, if you wish to pay by card, they will request +4%. If you decline, the blocked amount will not be realeased for another 7 days. If you are on a budget, this may cause you a BIG PROBLEM. It is a scam.

non-inspiring low-budget accommodation

Friendly staff

The room was definitely not 3-star, even for Amsterdam standards. I have stayed in more than a dozen dfiferent hotels in Amsterdam an I would not recommend this one. The room was tiny, the tram in front of the window is noisy . Shower and toilet needed refurbishment/renovation. The whole place makes a non-maintained impression. The location is also too far away from the center for tourists (I'm none)

Fantastic base for a few days in Amsterdam

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I arrived at 6am, 9 hours before my official check in time. The young man at reception made me an expresso coffee and sat me in the breakfast room where I worked on my computer. they made a special effort to get my room ready by 9.30am. Thanks to all for great hospitality and humour!

This is a basic hotel, but all you need as a base to see the sights of Amsterdam.

Good location - near tram station Centuurbaam on a relatively quiet street. I lived in a twin room which was (together with bathroom) unexpectedly large for such a small hotel.

Very small corridors and dangerous spiral stairs. Room keys are given without checking the guest's identity. Very loudly you hear your neighbours open and shut the doors.

Nice and economic

Nice hotel, surprisingly cheap for the average in Amsterdam. Located in a quiet and beautiful area, not in the centre but opposite a nice park and close to Vondel Park and the museums. The best transport was undoubtedly the bicycle, which you can rent at the hotel at a good price, and move around the city in a comfortable, time-saving and benefitial way. Otherwise, there are also trams to the centre.

Like other reviews have already pointed out, there is a big difference between the twin and double room, for a small difference in price. I definitely recommend the twin, as its quality and in particular its size is enormously better than the double.

decent stay

We had a beautiful spacious room. We very much liked the location.

We had wanted a double bed but those rooms are too tiny so we ended up with two twins pushed together which made for a bigger room but my husband and I were quite uncomfortable sleeping on those beds as it was near impossible for us to sleep together without falling through the cracks... We had beautiful big windows but they looked out onto the patio where the garbage dump was, which was noisy when the staff was throwing out trash. For those reasons I think the room should have been at a discounted price.

At the 4th floor the wireless internet signal is very poor, impossible to connect, but its very good in the bar. There's no safe in the room. The room is kindly tight, so for a couple, just 1 middle luggage per person

Rooms extremely small. Burn holes in the blanket. Corridor smelled like dope (although the consumption is forbidden in the hotel, many guests obviously don't care). Breakfast too expensive.

A nice, quiet location for those who know their way around Amsterdam. Staff was very helpful. Good breakfast, although not a diverse selection.

The bar was unattended most of the time and a bit expensive. A bit too far to walk to the dam area-- use the #25 tram.

Great deal (we paid 50€), convenient location (15 mn to centraal station by tram), not really in the center but De Pijp is really a laid back, relax neighborhood. The night receptionnist was really pleasant and helpful. Good choice of channels on the TV. Great breakfast, which was included. Would definitely recommend for quality vs price => I already paid double that in Amsterdam, only to get half as much...

Reasonably priced mid range hotel close to Amsterdam City Centre.

The double room was quite small. Ourselves and friens had booked two doubles and they were both the same, two sides of the bed were not accessible (the top and one side). Additionally there was a Rentokil bug trap on the floor behind one of the curtains.

i loved the location.staff were friendly and helpful.

my single room was very small,i had a view of a wall. The noise from the elevator plus the hallway was loud at all hours. There was a problem with a drainage pipe in bathroom also which caused a stink every time the adjacent room used their toilet.

Friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast with a lot to choose from. Also the bar was good. Location of the hotel was good, just opposite Sarphati park and in walking distance to both Heineken brewery and Rijksmuseum. Trams 25 and 3 stopped outside the hotel if you got tired of walking.

Very small rooms eventhough we had a double room. Noise from the corridor was really disturbing whenever people was passing and particular night times ( and we are both young people and usually aren´t bothered about stuff like that... )

The service was good, location was good. Breakfast included and not bad. Our friends got the quadruple room for their family, and it was large enough for everyone.

the room was smaller then expected. We have 2.5 year old twins and there wasn't room for two baby beds, nor did the hotel have more then one available. I couldn't stand in the shower because it was too narrow. Parking is on the street and expensive. Bring lots of euro coins!

The rate was only 41 Euro for night (in March), and that is a PRIVATE room (not a dorm) with PRIVATE bath and toilet, INCLUDING citytax & breakfast, and in the center of Amsterdam, which is as cheap as you can get. The hotel also has free computer with internet access and free wireless internet in the rooms (you have to ask the reception how to use it, though). I don't smoke, and even though they didn't have a non-smoking room available, my "smoking" room was very fresh, clean and did not smell.

The hotel is very narrow: entrance and reception rooms are narrow, computer corner is just a hole under stairs (only for 1 person; luggage is also stored there), elevator is small and has no inner door (not secure) and it's cleaned every morning so you have to use stairs; the stairs are very steep & narrow so you can fall (especially when you carry luggage). Breakfast is served in the bar. For 41 Euro you will get the smallest room possible which is barely enough for 1 man (about 1,5x3 meters).

Your staff is working very hard and kind enough for everything. Esepcially the man on the front desk was so nice to comply with my requirement for internet connection during my stay. That was fine.
