Hotel Agora is located in a striking white canal building dating from 1735. Hotel Agora Amsterdam is easy to reach by train, and is only a 15-minute walk from the station. The renovated hotel is situated in the heart of Amsterdam near the flower market and between Amsterdam's famous squares: the Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein and the Dam. It is a fantastic location from which to experience and discover Amsterdam's colourful sights and sounds: whether walking along the flea market or savouring a drink on one of the many terraces on the Leidseplein.
Hotel Agora Amsterdam offers fine facilities at an attractive price. At the back of the hotel is a beautiful sun lounge with a view of the pretty garden, a lovely spot in good weather. The informal atmosphere and excellent service makes everyone's stay here a pleasant one. Hotel staff are friendly and approachable, and will gladly offer tips regarding nice daytrips, for instance, roundtrips through Amsterdam's canals.
iWhen do you wish to stay at Hotel Agora Amsterdam?
Amsterdam offers innumerable opportunities in the cultural, historic and culinary fields. Culture lovers should definitely not miss the Hermitage Amsterdam. This museum was opened in 2009 and is a branch of the famous Russian Hermitage. It features regularly changing exhibitions exploring Russian art and culture. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are also certainly worth the effort of visiting. De Jordaan offers a good insight into the lives of 19th century Amsterdammers. It was a typical working class neighbourhood, where the poorest of Amsterdammers lived in houses that were far too small. Nowadays, trendy young people from all types of backgrounds are resident to this revived neighboorhood, and it´s traditional workshops have since been replaced by quaint shops.

Good breakfast, central location, great value
The hotel is in an excellent location, provides a good breakfast, and that staff is helpful and available.
The furniture and carpet in the rooms are worn, but still the hotel is a good value. Patrons of the bar next door kept us awake in the early hours of our Saturday night stay
*my tipThe Indonesian restaurant "Sampurna" just down the street was excellent!

A fair price/quality and cheap hotel very well located
Spacious rooms. Good breakfast.
Nasty smelling in the stairs. Everything looks a little bit "old".
A large double bed in a large room; but the lavabo was directly in the bedroom while the shower and toilets are in a separate small bathroom.
*my tipThe menswear shop just beside the hotel at the left.
Dont miss the Indonesian Restaurant "Kantil de Tiger" which is at the beginning of Spui straat close to the hotel.

Good location but poor management
We waited for 15 minutes cuz no one was at the reception. The receptionest was late of work but no apologies at all.
The promotion showed the room had coffee machines but turned out not a drop of water
The next morning we came for breakfast but the door was locked as the reception left work earlier and took the key.
The worst experience I ever had. Definitely not recommomded

We stayed in the canal suite and the room was massive! We were also able to leave our bags and pay the bill when we arrived in the morning although check in was not til 2. Breakfast was good but nearly finished by 9am. The bathroom looked like it had been recently decorated.
The bedroom decor needed modernised and the room felt slightly damp, with some windows not opening. The stairs were steep, but this was to be expected. Quite a walk from the station.
*my tipFlower market is a must see!

Clean, friendly but in need of a make over.
Friendly, helpful reception. Good location with easy access. Room clean.
the hotel is in need of a good refresh. Furniture, carpets and overall appearance is very dated - some of the furniture looks like it was picked up in a boot sale.

A Nice central old fashon hotel with large and comfortable rooms.
An ideal location close to the flower market and the city centre. A spacious clear and comfortable room with a bathrom fully equiped and a very comfortable double bed. We did like the kindness of the persons at the desk. The breakfast is served in a very nice lounge which include a terasse. The breakfast is presented as a buffet. Choise is basic but satisfactory..
The carpet in the stairs should be changed or deeply cleaned up to avoid any smell.

Value for money ....needs refurbishment!
Ideal position - at the center of Amsterdam easily reachable. Staff were very friendly and good English speaking.
Good value for what I paid. Comfort sleep
Needs a good facelift, dirty carpets and very damaged furnitures. Our room had a new installed bathroom bur bedroom furniture needs to be replace. Stairsway to rooms very bad smelling and dirty.
*my tipAmsterdam is a great place where there is everything to everyone!
For sure Anne Frank Huis, Heineken Experience, Van Gogh Museum and Leidseplein + Rembrantplein

At night 3AM fire alarm started and switched off by itself after 5 mins,It was Panic for my family...and in morning when i asked my remark was taken very lightly that some one will be smoking in other room which i dont believe..and for 2 hours we were not able to sleep and offcource my 2 year child was realy scared.
*my tipNo Lift in hotel, not sure in case of emergency there is any pther Exit or not apart from stairs

All That's Amsterdam!
Great location for those wanting to explore Amsterdam - hotel is a short tram or taxi ride from Central Station and conveniently located with walking distance or a tram ride away from many attractions. Staff was helpful and friendly, rooms were clean and comfortable.
*my tipLocation; breakfast buffet included with room; convenient central location - either walking or by tram to shopping and eateries; canal tour; Anna Frank Huis; Experiences such as Heineken and Ajax.
Bedroom and bathroom clean and everything worked.
Breakfast was good.
Night club beside hotel not only is noisy but made all the furniture in room Vibrate! Did not get much sleep when stayed.
While facilites were OK they were not of a standard expected for the price of the room
Oher hotels nearby only 20/30 euro more but with far better standard of facilites.
Very steep stairs to rooms.
*my tipUse Tram 1,2 or 5 to get to Hotel from Centraal Station.
Good location, but requireing a spot of redecoration.
The decor of the hotel is a bit tired and could do with a new paint job, also the lighting in the room was very dull.

Small friendly place for the young at heart and legs of all ages.
All staff very helpful and lovely friendly manner. Bed wide and super comfortable.
An outside space to sit in.
Was told attempts were being made to upgrade hotel and yes, stairs and bedroom could do with some freshening up. Stairs very steep for the less physically able. Downside of central location is the inevitable street noise. Stayed during week, so no extra noise from bars.
*my tipRestaurants within 5 mins walk: Haesje Claes on Spuistraat for Dutch cooking, booking essential; Sampurna, opposite Flower market for Indonesian and Casa di David, along the Singel for Italian.
ok needs updating.
Breakfast was good and the staff I saw were friendly.
Bathroom was ok and the water was hot and shower worked well.
Room very dated and "tired" and would have been small for 2- I was in a double but on my own. Old water damage stains covered a lot of the ceiling- not very attractive .
*my tipI would recommend for price and location but my room needed some updating and decorating and would have been small for 2 people.
Transportation is very convenient , but facility is poor
Some hotel receptionist ( Mr) is very helpful for us.
Noisy especially week end.
Window is old and not shut prfectly.
Receptionist is only one person and always busy and changed.
Stay fee per day too much gap

Good option for family of 4 if you are travelling light
Good, convenient location on the edge of the Jordaan district, quiet courtyard, querky loft apartment for a family of four, nice continental breakfast included. Make sure you are fine with carrying suit cases up stairs as there are 7 flights of curved stairs to the loft apartments.
no mosquito screens on windows - it was over 30 degrees C while we were there and the mosquitos were bad.
*my tipgood option for a family of four if you are travelling light or don't mind carrying suit cases up stairs
no elevator or air conditioning, mosquitoes (because you will have to leave the windows open, because of the lack of air conditioning)
This hotel has a great location and is very friendly
Very nice hotel near the flower market on the canal. The people were very friendly, and for the cost you can't beat it. Our initial room was very small, so we got it changed to a much larger one, which made our stay wonderful. We really felt at home in our cozy attic room. Immaculate bathroom a real plus!!!
Not the hotel's fault...as this is a typical Amsterdam house converted into a hotel, there isn't a lift, just lots of stairs! This lent an air of authenticity to staying in the city.
