Alp Hotel Amsterdam

Great little place

• + Super clean and well taken care of. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was great. Location just outside of center (1.5 km) is nice to explore other parts of this great city. Stop complaining about the staircase folks, this is Holland!
• – Yes, the front room is loud but that's why it's so cheap.
• * my tip Explore the 'other' parts of the city! Don't just hit the main sites, just get lost walking the streets and canals.

good value for money, would stay again

• + very friendly and helpful reception, the jacuzzi bath was a plus. free fruit bar is a nice touch.
• – room was very hot even with fan on

a fair deal

• + Very comfy beds, and for the city, the rooms were very large, very clean, The staff was very eager to help if we needed anything, the free hot drinks were nice to have plus the lobby was a nice place to hang out if you wanted a place to chill for an hour
• – a bit pricey, and a bit noisy at night. they supplied ear plugs which was fortunate for us. Only other down side is though the bed was comfy it was 2 doubles put together, it would have been nicer if it was a full bed.

• + The room was really beautiful and clean!!The breakfast was tasty! The people were very helpful and friendly!! In my next trip i will definately stay in this hotel!!! Thanks a lot ;)
• – the stairs...but not a problem because they helped as with our luggage!

OVERALL QUITE GOOD HOTEL

• + Staff were friendly, nice breakfast and comfortable room
• – The Stairs... but i think everywhere in Amsterdam is like that.. Steep narrow winding stairs

• – chambre minuscule. Bruits de rue importants notamment le tramway. Escalier raide sans ascenceur. Pas de parking. il faut bien parler anglais.

• + In general the staff were very friendly, especially the lovely German girl at the front desk who went out of her way to help us. Much appreciated. Overall the hotel was in a great location, with a reasonable price and including a great breakfast. Quality Tea (Lipton & Pickwick in assorted flavours) and coffee available all day which is a bonus if you're coming in tired and need a pick-me-up. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff worked hard to keep it so. Overall we would highly recommend this hotel for service, location, overall quality & cleanliness.
• – The actual room was on the fourth floor (with no lift) to the front of the hotel. It was very noisy at night and it was difficult to sleep. Also the room was absolutely tiny with twin beds ... the room is really only suitable as a single room. MAKE SURE TO STATE THAT YOU WANT A ROOM AT THE BACK OR ONE OF THE BIGGER ROOMS. The small rooms are not big enough for couples. You can't move in the room and it is quite uncomfortable. After the first night we asked to change room but we were not permitted because they said all the rooms were booked out. (Later that night a lone backpacker walked in off the street while we were drinking tea and he got the VACANT bigger room next door to us at the same price we paid!!) We were really annoyed at this because he ended up staying a few nights ... when they had told us that because we were staying another 3 nights we couldn't change as ALL OTHER BIGGER ROOMS were booked out. Go figure!! In the end, the room was the only problem we had ... everything else was great. I would definitely recommend the hotel but would stipulate that you book a bigger room or one at the back if you are not travelling alone.

Good value for money - Friendly environment - helpful team

• + Friendly and helpful team specially on arrival. Welcome drink appreciated. Breakfast buffet ... spot on ! Clean room.
• – None I can think of that could be handled by the hotel management (noisy street, narrow stairs...).

Very nice hotel

• + Good breakfast. Clean and spacious rooms. Nice restaurants nearby.
• – Noisy. The double room had 2 separate beds that were put together..

• – Extremely noisy rooms (tramstop right under the window) +4% extra charge when paying with card. They authorize the card that is used for booking 2 days before arrival. It means that they freeze the total amount of the stay on the card and it can take a week after check-in to release it. (prepare to have extra money on your account)

Friendly staff, a little pricey.

• + Clean hotel. Good breakfast and nice staff. About a 15 minute walk to the Anne Frank House and 30 minutes to Centraal Station.
• – The WiFi access didn't reach upstairs to our room on the 3rd floor. The front desk did lend me a cable so I could do an online class from my room.

• + very friendly and helpful staff. stylish and modern interior. delicious breakfast, great variety. central location, great connection to public transport.
• – due to it's central location it's quite noisy at night. earplugs were provided for free though. that's the only minus though, everything else was great.

• + Si trova in un' ottima posizione sia per passeggiare a piedi, usare i trasporti pubblici o andare in bici. A ridosso dei quartieri più belli della città; è molto pulito, carino, curato e accogliente. Silenzioso. Il personale è simpatico e disponibile. La nostra stanza al primo piano era perfetta! ottima e ricca colazione. Bravi!

father and daughter city trip

• + location. tidiness, contemporary interior design.
• – street room with noise from tram. no black-out curtains. very, very small room (which is ok but could be communicated better) with noise and light failing it is annoying that it is also small...

A little Gem Off The Beaten Track

• + Great service with a friendly manner. Very helpfull in researching public transport needs on the internet and very informative with regard to the local amenities and public galleries.

• – location - a little far to work - but tram just outside single beds pushed together for a double...doesn't work

Good hotel if you are young.

• + The hotel was very clean and the service was very good. All fittings new and apprieciated
• – The stairs were very steep and I found having to climb 68 stairs every time exhausting. I would have prefered to be on a lower floor.

Room to improve

• + Clean; Buffet breakfast;
• – No lift, small stairway; dangerous garden area- slabs broken and wobbley,steep step to area, no fire escape through garden area. Not suitable for disabled; I have bad back and had to crawl up last flight of stairs (over 50 stairs) Rooms were noisy from outside traffic.

A great little hotel.

• + The Alp is only 3 or 4 stops from Dam Sq (on trams 13 and 14 to Bilderdijkstraat) and it drops you right outside the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival. The room was lovely and clean. The breakfast was fantastic and was a good start to the morning. There were small bottles of water and fresh fruit left for us everyday which I had never experienced before. There are 2 computers in the back that you can use and it has everything on it. I will be staying here again.
• – The only thing I could fault was the shower, it was a little slippy and hard to get out of, i'd like to see a matt on the shower basin and a curtain instead of a door.

Christmas at the Amsterdam Alphotel

• + Friendly, convenient and quiet.
• – Room was cold in the evening due to the radiators being turned off during the day. No coffee or tea facilities in the room. (But available down stairs)

• + Very friendly staff, nice buffet at breakfast, good price
• – streets are very loud in the first floor. the window did not close properly so cold cold air came in from outside. window could not be opened at all. street lamps shone into the room at night and the blinds did not help much.

Good, clean hotel with friendly service

• + The owners were extremely friendly and cordial. The hotel was very clean. The bathroom was nice and had a very good shower.The breakfast was quite good and plentiful.
• – Too many steps to climb. No elevator. Not very comfortable. Bed was too low to floor and no desk in room. Room not very functional as there really was no place to put our suitcases and no flat surfaces to put our stuff on.
