Scott Andrews On the city centre outskirts, a great hotel
8.2
+ Good standard of the English language and very helpful with any requests. Nice rooms, nice price, slightly cramped, but en-suite.
joska Budget hotel in nice location
7.2
+ Good service: our booking by HOTELS.NL from the day before did not work(!) - but they still squeezed us in nicely: got a 4-person room for the first night and a double room for the 2nd and 3rd night. Also I found the counter stuff nice and helpful: they helped carryin luggage, and wrote me a some special invoice.
- Amsterdam is not cheap, and prices are set by the market, (paid ca 130 eur/ night for two beds) incl breakfast. The breakfast buffet is OK, but not great. Could be improved: yoghurt/salad/tee/coffee/bread should be refilled faster (but if you ask they do it - but why do they not just use bigger bowls?), also only one toaster for some 15 persons is a bit slow.but hey:budget. Bathroom does not look too welcoming, meaning that the tiles are old, but (I asume) it was clean.
Anonymous Basic but good value.

+ It was very cheap by Amsterdam standards. Clean and warm. Right beside the no.2 tram line, so easy to get to the museums etc.
- Staff were pretty ignorant. And check out at 11a.m. really means 11a.m.

+ Pleasantly surprised. Very good room on ground floor with patio area. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was o.k. and kept topped up!A bit out of town but lovely walk through Vondel Park to get there or no. 2 tram runs right past hotel.
- Only one key card provided for the room.

+ The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also our radiator did not work and was attended to immediately. Our room no.22 had a patio with table and chairs which we used every day as the weather was good. The breakfast was very nice and the dining room was very bright and pleasantly decorated. The trams were very frequent and passed by the hotel.
- A very old and grubby looking bath for which we bought a rubber mat. Some lack of privacy due to no blinds or curtain on the overhead window at the back and guests could look down from floors above and wave.

- very small room with a not very confortable bed and so the equation between Price/quality has to be better improved from you in future.

- Awfully sharp and narrow stairs! Only one plug point in the hole room (it was to the TV). There wasn't any even in the showerroom/toilet!

+ The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable! Enjoyed the balcony. The room was pretty and clean.
- The staff was remarkably less than friendly. The hotel is overpriced. The room was small, especially for four beds.

+ Good communications. Calm area with little traffic.
- Expensive, dirty (shower), old and torn. Hard beds. 50 cents for a small commercial Amsterdam map is on the limit to greed...

+ The service personnel were friendly and helpful. Great location. Very good breakfast.
- The bathroom (toilet and shower drain) smelled foul. The room (a triple) was too cramped, even by Dutch standards.

+ This hotel has 2 stars but is really a nice 3 star hotel. The hotel was to a very good standard, and the location was perfect and much nicer than I had imagined. We were pleasantly surprised by the very friendly and helpful staff. Our rooms were all on the ground floor and very adequate for the price paid, and the standard of cleanliness was top rate. The buffet breakfast was excellent, with sufficient choice to suit every taste, and (a first in my experience of hotel catering) perfect boiled eggs and really fresh orange juice.
- Quite steep stairs, though it's rather common in Amsterdam as I know.

+ The staff was friendly and helpful, the area was nice and quiet and convenient with the tram. Cafes and a few bars within walking distance.
- The breakfast wasn't great. The room was a little small for two people with luggage.

+ The people was nice and the location was exilent
- Very hot room. If you use credit card, they put a 2% fee on the bill, not mentioned in the offer. You do not bring that amount of money in your pocket.

6.2
+ It is a pleasant enough hotel and is away from the centre, although only a short tram ride away. I would recommend it.
- I am being honest. the hygiene at the time of our stay reflects on the work that was being done to the hotel at that time, there was more dust then to be expected, although this should have reduced the price at that time.
Staffan Mossberg
4.4
+ Plenty of hot water with good pressure in the shower (no bath tub) and the beds were good.
- The Apple Inn Hotel Amsterdam is in my opinion overpriced and doesn't live up to the quality level you would expect for the amount they charge for their rooms. My room was very small, the TV was miniscule and the paint didn't stick to the walls in the miniature bathroom. The picture of the rooms on the website was clearly not taken in the room I was given.

8.8
+ Very convenient location if you don't want to be in the central tourist area, staff very helpful.
- no cofee/tea making service in rooms, or available in the hotel

+ location - near enough to walk round park.
- Surcharge if credit card used - I was not told of this until I arrived and I did not have enough Euros on me as I'd come straight from teh airport, so I had to pay extra.

+ breakfast
- Hotel was cost of much nicer hotels and was small, old and dirty. The shower had a fan blowing inside the shower and water blew everywhere. Beds we uncomfortable and old.
Gunnar Fransson
8.4
+ Especially the senior receptionist was very forthcoming and helpful. For once the Amsterdam weather was glorious...
- The breakfast meal was somewhat poor, e.g. a greater variety of bread would have been appreciated. At our visit the ongoing repair work was a bit messy. Otherwise we found everything in good order.

+ Tram stops quite close to the hotel and there is a pleasant park nearby. No other plus points at all in my view.
- The hotel was a long way from the city centre - 25 minutes by tram. It was very basic, very shabby - broken tiles on floors, thin towels in bathroom v. Chairs in the breakfast room were badly stained. Although we arrived an hour or more after the time the room was to be available we still had to wait. I would definitely not stay there again or recommend it to anyone else visiting Amsterdam. For one night it was acceptable but not for any longer than one night.

8.8
+ The room was really pretty, with a view to somebody's back yard, but really comforable and fresh and a very good light. The breakfast was delicious and complete. The people at the reception desk were very nice. The location is nice, in a quiet neighborhood near the Vondelpark, in front of the tram.
- We had a large heavy bag and had to climb up a very steep staircase with it. It would have been nice if they had a lift or somebody to help out with heavy bags. There was some work being done in the house, but it didn't bother that much. It is far away from the train station, about half an hour in the tram.

- Very small uncomfortable room and bed. No possibilities to dry the air in a sweaty humid atmosphere with a strange unpleasant smell. The worst place I have ever stayed in in Europe (especially when one considers the European middle class price).

+ A very nice location!!
- The hotel was in rebuilding. Teh beds were of very bad quality. The one page, very small plan of A-dam cost 50 cents!!

+ cheap i guess?
- we moved around to at least 4 different rooms room number one, key didn’t work room number two, had to move due to construction room number three, ceiling started leaking room number four, shower head 'melted' off and spewed boiling water on my friend we received the "maximum" discount of 20% for our troubles
