Happy to make repeat visit

Old building overlooking the canal. Slightly further out of the central district so no problem with late night noise. Room small but clean with one of the few en-suite shower rooms that seem to be in Amsterdam! Good breakfast included (continental). We were thankful for the central heating. We would be happy to stay there again.

Lift not working so had to climb 2 flights of stairs as well as a number of steps getting into the hotel in the first place. Not suitable for someone with walking disability. If you want modern comfort this is not the hotel to go to. This is an old building that has been transformed into a hotel. Could not open the window for fresh air in the room.

Nice hotel

Staff is very friendly, breakfast was good. Location was nice also, it didn't take long to walk to the shopping street (about 5 minutes) or the other places we went to.

Rooms are a bit small, but I only used it for sleeping so it was completely fine.

Worth considering

Friendly hotel, good help-yourself breakfast, good location. I would stay there again.

minor things - built in hairdrayer broken, but they immediatly gave me a new one. Shower hose had a leak, which I even forgot to mention to the, but the bathroom was beautiful.

Perfect location but hotel isn't worth the price you pay for it

Perfect location: close to everything and still a very quiet neighbourhood. Quiet hotel, drug free.

If it were not in Amsterdam, the hotel wouldn't be worth 80 euro for a double room. Old infrastructure (e.g. lift didn't work). Very small room (barely larger than the double bed). Doubts about hygiene. Shower drain clogged upon arrival. Very simple breakfast (with only cheap industrial bread, cheap jam, cheap corn flakes, ...)

Fantastic hotel in a good location, at a good price.

We had asked for a canal view room and got what we requested. The location is great, about a 25 minute walk to Central Station, only 5 minutes to Rembrandt Square and about 10 minutes to most other tourist attractions. It was also much quieter at night than we had anticipated. The room was a bit small but comfortable and the bathroom clean and surprisingly modern compared to the rest of the hotel decor. Breakfast was continental style, simple but great and filling. The service was excellent - the receptionists were very nice and accomodating. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

A Decent Budget Hotel

It had a great location and friendly staff. The price was good for Amsterdam, although expensive for what it was.

The sheets and towels and curtains had holes in them?!!! This was definitely a budget hotel, but I did not feel it was terribly dirty or anything. Good enough for a weekend.

Very unfriendly man behind desk when I was leaving the next afternoon- wouldn't let me check email on the computer I'd used the day before,etc. I didn't get his name, but unless he is the owner, I'd have a talk with him or find someone who could do a better job.

Two rooms with large quality difference for the same price

We booked two rooms: we got one in the basement, below the stairs and another one which was located on the first floor of an authentic Amsterdam house (perfect). Both rooms were clean - the one on the first floor was perfect (big enough, still), the one in the basement was small and noisy.

We booked two rooms - one of those disappointed us (room in the basement, noisy). However the second one was looking over a garden, located in an authentic Amsterdam house.

Nice Hotel, the Armada!

Personal very kind, breakfast good, nice bedrooms. They take care of your car (it just disappears from your sight, so you can stay in Amsterdam without worrying about parking problems). This is not a hotel servide but they inform you about it and it's much cheaper than parkings.

Elevator is just for one person, my parents are both aged more than 60 and this was a problem. The bathroom has no courtains in the shower, and so when you take a shower verything gets wet. No internet.

room disappointment

Location, breakfast included Room was absolute disappointment !

Our hotel room was practically below the ground level and below the staircase of the hotel. In fact this was not a hotel room, but a former service space made for a hotel room (in the corridor in front of us they were gathering the dirty sheets). Nothing to do with the Internet pictures ! We also requested explicitely in our online reservation NO ground floor, but this info was not known to the staff. It was very noisy and impossible to sleep. The hygiene was also not very good.

Affordable, friendly service, in a central location

Great location, friendly staff, nice comfortable room, good shower. Rooms cleaned regularly and fresh towels provided daily. Breakfast was pretty standard, and we were glad they served til 10 so we weren't forced to be up too horribly early!

Hairdryer was useless - should have taken our own. Couldn't find the TV remote, but we weren't that bothered.

Low-price hotel in AMS center - just try!

Location of hotel is excellent and for us it was unexpected close to Amsterdam`s center (no, it is in center!). Staff of hotel was also very kind.

Already half a year is over ince it is forbidden to smoke in public areas (incl hotel rooms). Unfortunately we could still feel a smoke of cigarettes in our room. It was very unpleasant specially for those who don`t smoke at all. Maybe renovation could help to solve this problem? Or general and deep cleening?

Great Location on canal, super clean and friendly staff to boot

very nice location, right in the center of town yet quiet street, canal view very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was nice way to start the day. Staff very friendly and helpful.

none I can think of.. maybe the wireless connection could have been better.. we managed to position the computer in the right spot and got a weak connection that worked 50% of the time, but it was free at least!
