A decent priced, dinghy room in the heart of Amsterdam

• + Excellent location at an affordable price (I booked online for $70/night). I can't complain about the noise because I am a deep sleeper and you can't expect much quiet in Rembrandtplein in spring.
• – When I checked the bed for bed bugs I noticed that the pillow and mattress were very, very old and stained. The mattress wasn't very comfortable and should be burned and replaced with a new one. The hotel has very steep stairs but that didn't bother me (and I stayed at the very top). The carpet is old and a bit dingy but that isn't a problem. The shared bathroom and weird sink in my room were minus points. I couldn't wash my face in my room without splashing water all over the place

• + Excellently located. Right on Rembrandtplein, beside Tram station, Tram 9 or 16 takes you just about anywhere in the city. TIP: Get Connexxion Hotel Bus Shuttle (€7.50 return) from Schipol right to Rembrantplein. Only a 2 minute walk to hotel! Best choice.
• – Be under no illusions - Hotel is inaccessable to people of reduced mobility. There are NO lift/elevators, and you need to be fit to walk the small stairs up to the different floors. Beds can be quite small - ask for a double bed room upgrade, as the singles can be quite small.

Shame about the leaky ceiling...

• + Price, very clean, friendly and has many of the modern good conveniences such as a safe in room, mini-bar, cable-tv etc, good location.
• – Lots of stairs, (but good workout and did have a 3rd floor roof deck!) Only European breakfast available, (meat cheese coffee, but at least its there if you want it!)

• + Great position in Rembrandtplein with lots happening. Good transport links and still walking distance to everywhere. Good service and our room was clean and tidy. We will definately be staying there again for a similar style break. There were no other noisy guests or anything so this is not a problem. Speaking to other people in Dam we heard some real horror stories about dodgy hotels they were staying in, the general feeling is that most of them are absolute dives so we were pleased we did our research and found the Atlanta. All in all we were happy.
• – Noisy area so not recommended for a quiet trip. For us this wasnt a problem as we weren't getting in till breakfast time each night, however there are lots of bars and clubs in this area and if you have a room facing the square it could be very noisy until the early hours.

Central location but wouldn't use again

• + The hotel is very central, easy to find and close to all the local tourist attractions and the staff are also very welcoming and helpfull.

• – the rooms were dirty, the layout was poor and the showers and toilets shared. I was asked to pay cash up front or face another 3% charge. This is a very expensive hostel and not a hotel.

• + Staff was friendly and VERY helpful! We checked in after touring the city for the day, wish we would have checked in first because they had VERY helpful advice that would have been useful. When we go back we will be staying here as well as telling others! We also felt safe comapred to other places we have stayed!

• – You can't smoke into rooms. 15 minutes walk to go to red quarter district.

• + Very good value. Hotel had a good location, friendly staff and the price was reasonable. Internet was free and worked well. You could do a lot worse in Amsterdam for almost 2x the price.
• – Not much. A pipe broke sending a fair bit of water into the dining room from the ceiling during breakfast, and the staff had a "not again!" look on their faces. I could complain about the steepness of the staircase, but to quote Paul Anka, in Holland "that's just the ****ing way it is".

The person next to our room was smoking consistantly and the smoke was drifting into our room. When I asked the guy at reception if he could have a word with the young man, I was told that guests could smoke in their rooms. When I mentioned the smoking ban, I was told that it took time to get people used to the new legislation - even though the person was a tourist from America who should be familiar with smoking legislation. Nothing was done, as the smoking continued, until I went to see our American friend...

• – * They did not empty the garbages everyday: Bloody tampons were still there after a couple of days. * The bathroom had mold along the tiles and on the shower curtain. Which clearly indicates they don't use bleach to clean. * There was a nightclub right in front of the room (#18) which has single-pane windows: extremely noisy until 04:30 every night. * The room (#18) had a "jacuzzi" that is just a glorified small bathtub which fits only one small person. * When paying 5 nights the same prince as 5x one-night, one would expect the room to be cleaned everyday as if it were the 1st day: saving money by not changing sheets with menstrual blood on them is not acceptable.

• + Hotel Atlanta, on Rembrantsplein, is my favorite hotel in the Netherlands. It's located near a wide array of good restaurants, and the better rooms in the Atlanta are reasonably large and very comfortable. The staff is helpful and friendly. Being above two popular bars, it can be a bit noisy at night, but it's a pretty fun location.

• + An absolute blinder of a hotel, the noise from the bars and clubs is the only downside and it can be loud at the weekend. Earplug will do the trick, of course if you are in the clubs it don't matter. Service was sharp and professional, i been in the dam 10 times or so and this was one of the best places i stayed for cost, location,comfort combination. I will go back.

• + I have no regrets about booking three rooms @ The Atlanta. The location was perfect for us. The staff was kind and eager to assist. The rooms were clean and each had its own characteristic. I was reluctant to reserve rooms with the commode /shower in the hallway. On the contrary, there was no waiting and it was the BEST shower I experienced in the three weeks I visited Europe. Two great eateries right in front of the hotel. There was plenty to see and do within walking distance.
• – The linens were clean but the bedspread was worn and soiled (oily.) I thought $45 for a 5 minute phone call to the US was a bit pricey. I get a better rate on my cell phone with roaming charges.

Service from the staff was very good & they were all very friendley. • + Location! This place is a fabulous location if you're into the nightlife. We were walking distance to De Wallen, Leidseplein, Anne Frank, etc.. Also we had several signifncant metros running right in front of our hotel. Good food (mostly english/irish) right in front of the hotel.
• – Jacuzzi Tub didn't work very well, and room cleaning service was very minimal. Rembrantplein is busy late into the night/morning (5am+) and tends to be noisy.

The smoke alarm went off when I fired up a blunt in the hot tub. Not too good in my eyes. Hot tub was nice, though.

• – -i thought the price was high considering what we got for it which was a trek up loads of stairs to a small room with no airconditioning and an ineffective fan that looked out onto another building's rubbish heap. i had asked for a room with a double bed, but instead we got a room with two single beds which we had to put together. we were visiting in the summer and as we were on the 2nd floor the room was unbearably hot but opening the window did nothing as the window was up against another building and hte fan was completely ineffective. i highly recommend installing ac. -i thought the cleanliness of the room was fine for the most part, however, i was disgusted to see a toilet brush sitting next to our toilet with bits of excrement still stuck to it. i moved the toilet brush out of sight behind the toilet, but the next day it was moved back to its place next to our toilet, still with bits of excrement stuck to it. it was absolutely disgusting and i recommend never leaving toilet brushes in patron's rooms.

• – My party stayed in rooms 13 & 15 I think. There was no view whatsoever except a roof or the air vent from the bathroom. We were unable to keep the window open due to the amount of pidgeons on our windowsill and mosquitos, probably due to the warm weather at the time. Therefore, the room was stifling at all times. On check-out, the receptionist asked if we had used anything from the mini bar. I answered honestly 'No' - obviously because we had not used anything. - However, your reception staff would not let us check out until they had been up to the room to check. - I did feel somewhat insulted at this obvious lack of trust. We were considering visiting the Atlanta agin, but these two facts have now discouraged this.

• + Rooms were clean,towells changed daily. Location good for us. Easy to get around Amsterdam from here.Lots of bars and restaurants in the vicinity.
• – Rooms were small . Hotel staff were not at all friendly.It took more than 30 mins to check in because we had 2 rooms booked and wanted to pay for them both on the same credit card. Person on reception obviously found this too difficult..and she proceeded to deal with other clientelle whilst we were still waiting to be booked in!

• – All the scores are lower based on the hygiene. The bathroom was in terrible condidtion! There was either mold or dirt with clots of hair in the shower. I had to go buy footwear just to take a shower. With such terrible housekeeping it affected the rest of the ratings. It is sad because I stayed before and it was good.

• – On arrival we noticed our TV was not working. After reporting this several times we eventually got a replacement ON OUR LAST NIGHTS STAY.

• – The room had a quite strong smell of tobacco smoke and during my stay it happened twice that the bed had not been made properly.

• – The room we were allocated was facing a nightclub opposite. This meant we were kept awake until 3am with very loud music and then until 4am with guests leaving the nightclub. This was very disappointing and we would never use again or recomend this hotel.

Prima hotel op goede locatie

• + De ligging van het hotel is perfect. Aan het plein waar je leuke tentjes hebt om te lunchen, een borrel te doen en te eten. Ook de Kalverstraat is op loopafstand. De kamers zijn redelijk goed. Wij hadden een 3-persoons kamer, waar de bedden dicht op elkaar stonden, waardoor er niet zoveel ruimte was, op zich geen problemen mee gehad. De bedden lagen prima.
• – de douche was wat verouderd. Wat ooit goudkleurig was (kranen enz) is nu hier en daar wat groen uitgeslagen. Ziet er wat onhygienisch uit.

Hotel in Toplage allerdings nur für Nachtschwärmer :)

• + Die Lage !!! direkt am Rembrandtplein , unzählige Pubs, Geschäfte , Clubs . Für Nachtschwärmer das Hotel !!! Auch die Kalverstraat (Fußgängerzone) mit vielen Läden, Ketten, etc. ist direkt um die Ecke . Für junge Leute und Leute denen Lärm nichts ausmacht und die stattdessen selbst gerne feiern gehen, absolut geeignet :)
• – Leute die Ruhe und Entspannung suchen, sollte das Hotel meiden :) Mitten in der Nacht Gegröhle von Leuten aus den unzzähligen Clubs, laute Musik , und unzählige Hubkonzerte von diversen Taxifahrern waren normal .

I would not recommend...

• + The hotel is very close to historic districts
• – The hotel was very noisy. Unfortunately it was impossible to have a sleep quietly as it was very noisy the whole night. No conditioning air as well, so the room was very warm. You cannot open the window because of the noise in the street. I was looking for two separate beds as specified at the time of the booking. In fact the two beds were installed together and I had to separate them by myself. Despite the fact I have paid an additionnal 15 EUR per night price for the said "luxury room", the room was very small (around 12 square meters). There were really few space to move or put my staff. When I have arrived, the flush in the rest room was not working. It has been fixed by the evening but the following day there was water in this rest room and someone else came to repair !!! I spent most of my time in hotels all around the world and I believe this one is very far from being the best and the price is very high for such accomodation.

• + Vriendelijke receptie. Je wordt snel geholpen bij problemen en serieus genomen. Na problemen direkt een andere kamer gekregen. Vanwege een niet schoongemaakt toilet en 's nachts een ongewenst bezoeker een gratis ontbijt gekregen.
• – badkamer ziet er niet netjes uit door het weer in de voegen, en toilet was niet schoongemaakt en doorgetrokken. Midden in de nacht ongewenste bezoeker in de kamer die dacht dat deze kamer nog vrij was. Dit was ontstaan doordat wij een andere kamer toegewezen hadden gekregen.

• + Die Rezeption ist 24h geöffnet. Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral!
• – Es wird in den Zimmern geraucht, so riecht es auch. Diverse Flecken auf Bettzeug, Überzügen und Handtüchern. Die Matratzen sind total durchgelegen. Die Duschen und Toiletten auf dem Gang wurden innerhalb von 14 Stunden nicht einmal gereinigt. Kein Schrank vorhanden. Keine Parkmöglichkeiten, ansonsten 45€ pro 24 Std. Amsterdam ist teuer, aber am Hotel sollte man nicht sparen!!

Voor een nachtje € 126,00 veels te veel. Ontbijt (apart te betalen)met Aldi eten(is niet slecht) maar niet in een hotel of geef het vooraf aan. Mijn inziens geen aanrader!

• – Der Wochenend-Tarif ist zu hoch. Der Wochen-Tarif hingegegen ist ok.

• – Die Lage ist deshalb schlecht, weil man aufgrund des nächtlichen Lärms (ein Club, der bis 5 Uhr früh geöffnet hat, liegt genau gegenüber der seitlich gelegenen Zimmer)kaum schlafen kann.Ein Zimmerwechsel brachte etwas weniger Lärmbelästigung. Ein Wirlpool im Zimmer wird angeboten, ist aber so grindig, dass wir es nicht benutzt haben. Insgesamt sind die Zimmer etwas verstaubt.

• – Onze kamer trilde de hele nacht, dit lag aan kokers di direkt naast onze kamer geplaatst waren en erg veel herrie maakte en bewoog als het gebruikt werd. Wij waren er op koninginnendag, het gezamenlijke toilet was toen erg vies.

• – Vervelende steile trappen, we hadden een kamer met sauna besteld en verwachten een aparte ruimte voor de sauna. De sauna bleek echter in het bad te zitten dmv een kabine rond het bad wat vol met stoom kwam te staan.

• – zeer moeilijke toegang tot het hotel, zeer steile en gevaarlijke trap aan ingang zeker met bagage. zeer moeilijk gangenstelsel met veel niveau verschillen. hopen stof onder de bedden, en toilet niet uitgekuist, was zelfs niet doorgespoeld en stond nog bevuild van vorige huurder. in de badkamer wat als jakuzi aangeduidt was, is een klein bad met sproeiers met luchtinblaasmonden die in het totaal niet werken, ook de verlichting in het bad wrkt niet. bed werd wel opgemaakt maar lakens werden gedurende gans het verblijf niet ververst, en vloer werd zelf niet schoongeveegd.

• – Leider war der Whirlpool defekt. Die hälfte der Düsen hat nicht funktioniert.Dann war auch das Licht im Badezimmer defekt.Als Facility Manager habe ich Erfahrung mit Unterhaltsarbeiten und bin deshalb nicht sehr zufrieden.

• + het ligt midden in de stad boven de terrassen wat wij een voordeel vonden, ons realiserend dat anderen dat juist een nadeel vinden.
• – er worden versleten en verwassen handoeken gebruikt die vol vlekken zitten. (zo oud dat ze niet meer schoon te wassen zijn)De wasbak op de slaapkamer is ontzettend klein, en loopt slecht af. Er is geen kast op de kamer voor de kleding op te bergen en er zijn onvoldoende haakjes.

• + Het hotel ligt direct aan het Rembrandtplein. Dit vonden we ideaal. Bovendien vlak bij de metro en tram.
• – Er stond een doos met giftig lokaas achter de koelkast in de hotelkamer. Gelukkig kwamen we hier pas achter toen we wakker waren, anders hadden we geen oog dicht gedaan. Dit vonden we niet echt hygienisch.

• + De minibar op de kamer was van veel verschillende spullen voorzien tegen een zeer aantrekkelijke prijs. Goed ontbijt voor weinig geld. Ligging is geweldig als je tenminste je kamer aan de voorkant ligt.
• – Luxe kamer met jacuzzi. Dit was volgens ons een gewone kamer met een klein ligbad met bubbels.

• – We kregen een kamer aangeboden die totaal niet aan de verwachtingen voldeed. De afbeelding die het hotel op haar internet-site had staan kwam in het geheel niet overeen met de aan ons aangeboden kamer. Na duidelijk ons ongenoegen hierover kenbaar gemaakt te hebben kregen we een kamer aangeboden die wel aan de verwachtingen voldeed.

• + Ramen konden gewoon open en je kunt (als je aan de voorkant zit) goed meegenieten van wat er op het Rembrandtplein gebeurd. gezellig hotel, netjes ingericht
• – Erg joviale engels sprekende receptionist met iets te veel humor. Was een beetje irritant, maar wel te doen. Niet direct bereikbaar per auto.In de buurt is de dicht bijzijnde parkeerplaats z'n 5 min lopen naar het hotel.

• – hotel beschikt niet over eigen parkeer-gelegenheid of parkeer service, de basic rooms zijn veel te klein. Alleen engels sprekend personeel.

• + Hotel France beviel uitstekend!
• – We zijn overgeboekt naar een ander hotel!

• – Het was bloedheet op de kamer en ook met open raam was slapen onmogelijk. Met warm weer is hotel niet aan te bevelen.

• + Ligging aan het Rembrandtsplein
• – Geen eigen toilet en douche

• + Personeel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam.
• – Wij zouden een 'deluxe' kamer hebben, we konden zelfs nog niet staan onder de douche, zo laag was het plafond. we moesten in zittend in bad douchen. (zelfs mijn vriendin van 1.68 mtr).

• – Geen. Ik vond de hotel precies wat ik nodig had.
