The unique and cosy A-Train Hotel Amsterdam is established in a typical Amsterdam building. The train-theme can not only be found in the hotel's name but also in the lobby and lounge.

The hotel is located across from the Central Train Station. From there, the train, tram, bus or metro takes you to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the RAI Convention and Exhibition Centre or the World Trade Centre within less than 20 minutes. Shopping streets, interesting sights, cafés and restaurants can be found within walking distance of the hotel.

The rooms are comfortably furnished and equipped with a modern bathroom. The hotel has eight smoking twin rooms, where only regular tobacco is allowed. The rest of the hotel is non-smoking.

Surroundings

The city of Amsterdam has a lot to offer its visitors. There are interesting museums, nice squares and more than a few charming buildings, canal houses and façades that can be admired. Close to the hotel lies the NEMO Science Centre that is devoted to science and technology. The canal cruise boats can be found practically in front of the hotel.

Food and Drinks

The continental breakfast buffet is served from 07:00 to 10:00 h. in the Pullman lounge, which also serves as a good place to relax during the day with a bite to eat or a beverage. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but many options for lunch or dinner can be found in the near surroundings.

Central, clean and cosy with helpful personnel
  • + Very central location. Easy to find when arriving by train, and within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Cosy atmosphere at the hotel, and very helpful personnel. Clean room.
  • – Only sheets and a plaid - no duvet. Had to wear clothes in bed not to freeze to death, but then again we were there on the coldes night in April in the history of Amsterdam. Bring pajamas if you are going so stay here during the cold season. Some rooms quite small, but large enough to sleep and nice bathrooms.
  • * my tip The hotel recommended the restaurand Toro Dorado, and it showed out to be a relly good tip! Great meat, good service and close to the hotel. Several other nice restaurants near this one as well.

  • – The rooms in this hotel are very small, hot and humid. There was no soap provided for the shower, only a soap dispenser near the hand basin. No coffee making facilities in room. The towels old and threadbare. The shower drain clogged up. The hotel rates itself as a three star hotel, this is not the case, it should be rated as a one star or one and a half star no more.

  • + fantastic location.. 5 min walk from the station. Easy access to the shopping district and the red light district. Staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast was simple yet filling european style. Free coffee and hot chocolate because the bulding was being painted and there was scaffolding up. Bargain! lovely little place would definitely stay there again! Booked the room with the patio, was great to have a wind down drink before bed in the garden! lovely!

  • – Strange that there wasn't any cover (or door) in the shower; the whole bathroom was always wet after having a shower. Mattresses too soft and pillows too "bumby" for our taste (we are used to different...). Why not any cucumber or tomato at the breakfast?
