Reviews

The following independent reviews were entered by guests after their stay at the hotel.

Anonymous Nice place to crash for a couple of nights
8.8
+ good breakfast, a lot to choose from, 2 towels and little bottles of shampoo and a hair dryer, nice tv
- it's small but neat, stayed at the top floor which was fine - don't know about other floors cause it is kind of noisy walking around and having a room right next to the elevator but oropax can do.
Anonymous Nice but noisy
6.4
+ Very clean and modern.
- Very small; overpriced for what you get; VERY noisy... especially facing the street with a bar that is open all night!
R.K. Excellent for just a budget place to crash with your own shower
8.0
+ - easy to reach - budget single room has its own shower and toillet - 24hour reception - good if you need a stay to crash
- - the room is a bit outdated - some lights in the room did not worked (just change the light bulb)
Anonymous Great Location, good service and reasonable prices
7.6
+ Mostly (except for one incident) excellent service and reasonable prices. Rooms are good and the location just next to Leidscheplein is great. Rooms are good (for 3 stars)
- Smell of smoke from other rooms (occasionally)
Michael Swiskay Reasonable hotel value with some downside
7.8
+ Great location near Leidseplein. Breakfast was good with knowledgable staff.
- Elevator was very slow. Walls like paper so disturbing sound from the halls was heard very often.
Mark Woodhouse Great location, good value, friendly and clean if not a little dated.
7.8
+ Friendly, a stones throw from Leidseplein, clean, realtively good value, stylish, modern bathrooms.
- Very dated decor in the reception area.

9.0
+ great location, clean room, friendly staff.
- funny smell at times in my room, but opening the window helped
Anonymous Terrible Stay
3.4
+ Nothing really I can think of
- Walls thin as cardboard, rude personnel, tiny, shabby room. When confronted multiple times with the fact that I could not sleep properly several nights in a row because of very loud neighbours and too thin walls, the people at the reception never offered another room, just empty excuses.
Anonymous Not worth the money
3.0
+ Nothing really
- For a lot of money I just got a tiny dark room in the basement. Rude personal, unexciting breakfast with no fruit or veg, and plastic foil constantly put back on top of all things, which did not seem very hygienic.
Olaf High price - great location and good service!
7.0
+ Good service. Great employees!
- Too costly!
Suzanne Schumacher Amsterdam Mini Break
8.4

- none really, tv didnt work but who wants to watch foreign telly anyhow on holiday ?
Bertil Goldberg Good old days style, so who cares that the television is small and bad
6.2
+ The personel is friendly and try to answer all kind of questions.
- No vegetables or fruits on the breakfast table. Mostly white bread and even the dark bread was soft and sweet.
John Bonbon Great Choice

3.8
+ We like the location. It's the best plus point.
- In our case, our room was quite small, our bed was uncomfortable and for one person when we're two and the hygiene can improve (it smelt tobaco). During the night, we listened suspicius noises. We didn't know what they were but perhaps they could be insects.
Katie Overall good hotel, would stay again.
9.0
+ Great service - allow to leave bags, give directions, Great location - close to the centre, easy for walking, Clean, Tasty breakfast, Safe
- Very small room and bed, A bit pricey for the size of the room, toiletries weren't very good - I had to use my own
Gavin Smith A perfect beginning and end to a perfect day in a great city

+ Location was perfect and the modern layout and fitout of the room was terrific.
- The stairway was narroww and vertical but I understand that so it was not a problem. I would rather stay in historic buildings.

+ Close to Leidse Plein, very clean and service was OK
- Room has about 8 square meters including shower, toilette and bathroom. Bed was in a terrible condition. Bottom line: too small for two people
Gary Gates
3.2
+ The awards in the quality box are nominal as the hotel canceled my confirmed reservation 30 minutes prior to my arrival.
- Booked and confirmed hotel on saturday morning. Later that afternoon at 15:00pm when I was almost at Amsterdam after a 200Km journey, the hotel phoned me and said it did not have a room for me after all. No appology was made. I am watching my bank account in case they attempt to withdraw money! I am an extensive traveller and I will not use this hotel or service in the future!

7.0
+ Very good location in the centre, close to Rijksmuseum and Vincent van Gogh museum, only about 8 tram stops from Amsterdam Centraal railway station with a good connection to the airport.
- The price seemed to be high enough for such a small room.
Martin Cornish
5.6
+ Excellent location and very friendly helpful staff.Staying for one or two days would be fine.
- Incredibly small rooms - only one tiny wardrobe and no drawers means a problem if you are stayong for more than a couple of nights as everything has to stay in the suitcase. Road noise and noise from rooms on the same floor could be a problem and with no airconditioning the rooms get stuffy and hot.
Emma
4.6
+ The location was really good, close to the relevant places or you can get them by walk
- The services in general, well the breakfast is ok, but if you decide to look under the bed it could be consider as a "risky business".
Diann
9.6
+ location is excellent, close walking distance to everything, breakfast was terrific, service at front desk was always helpful
- custodians should not leave vacuums and laundry piles at bottom of stairs, it's already pretty steep and narrow, and additional hazards should be avoided.

8.0
+ We checked in very late with no problems, the staff were very helpful in helping us arrange tours and the like, bedroom was small (small double) - but not as small as some reviews on this site would suggest. Overall, if you're just looking for a place to crash, this spot is excellent. It was close to everything!
- Bathroom was absolutely tiny, as my knees touched the door when I was using the toilet. It did get a bit loud at night, but nothing crazy.

+ Situated near a lot of restaurants, clubs, and activity.
- Also situated on a busy street so traffic noise was an issue. Small rooms, though fine if you just need a place to sleep.

+ This hotel was easy to find. The Euro Car Park where you can leave your car overnight (30EURO for 24 hrs)is an easy two blocks away. The hotel is only a few blocks from the big museums and shopping areas. Breakfast was perfect with yogurt, meats, cheese, eggs & assorted breads. All staff members were very accomodating and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
- Nothing worth mentioning. Thank you.

+ its location was excellent hygiene was good breakfast was good
- 1) room light was not powerful. 2) there was not a mini bar 3) I bought an internet card, but the wireless system did not work on 1st and 3rd floor. 4) there were not disposable slippers in the room 5) there were approximately 10 channels on TV, and this is a small number. 6) In my room in 3rd floor, air was escaping from the window edges and it was cold at night.

+ Very freindly staff. Excellent breakfast. Good location.
- Bathroom was not clean.. A good deal of noise from the street during the night.
Martin & Katherine Pickle
6.2
+ Very good, central location. Cute, quite old-fashioned hotel. Breakfast was very nice with a wide selection of ham, cheese, bread and pastries. Small double-room was small (unsuprisingly) but was perfect for a 2 night stay. Shower was very nice. Good decor and level of cleanliness.
- All staff were quite unfriendly - no niceities. Not once asked if we were having a nice stay.

+ Great location, around the corner from Leidsplein which is where we wanted to be. Reception and breakfast staff were wonderful--could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was pretty good. Very Reasonably priced for Amsterdam, but Amsterdam is an expensive city for hotels. They let my large group play cards in the hotel bar and provided excellent customer service.
- Make sure you ask ahead of time if you want non-smoking, and they will accomodate. I forgot to ask and checked in late. I also learned the hard way that "small double" means a full bed (instead of a queen or two twins, which is what I was expecting) not a small room. Not ideal for two folks that are not a couple sharing a room. But, it was my fault for failing to check what that meant.

+ Excellent location for exploring Amsterdam. 5 minutes to Leidseplein/Museumplein, 10 minutes to downtown.

- Thin walls make for noisy rooms.

5.8
+ The chap that checked me out (dont remember his name)has a beard-well he was very Friendly and good with customers. Good internet connection
- Smoking (cant wait till July! I was in room 40, top floor and it was like 10 people were in my room smoking. I think the rooms need more attention to basic cleaning/dusting, before I could watch the TV I had to "wash" it with a damp towel (no charge)

+ Friendly helpful staff.
- Thin walls make for noisy rooms.

+ Easily within walking distance to central Amsterdam, room was also clean enough.
- Smallest bathroom I have every stayed in - I could just about dry myself after a shower if I breathed in!

6.8
+ Nice location just near Leidseplain, pleasant front-desk service, good enough food but still the same every mornin, nice WC/Shower facilities what was pretty surprisingly!
- PC in the lobby is 10yo for sure with Windows 2000! :) Still You need to pay 5EUR/h... Stairs are something but as there's an elevator it's just an addition! Everythin is pretty small & thin but in general if You are stayin' for the night it doesn't harm!
Albert
9.6
+ This is a very reasonably priced hotel in a very good location. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is excellent (by European standards).
- The rooms are quite small and Americans might feel a bit cramped, but if you get an inside room, it is very quiet.

+ Perfect breakfast, comfortable beds, kind personel.
- spiders webs on the ceiling, cigarettes on the balkony, not very clean shower.
