Soon, the business blossomed and expanded to the well known hotel it is today.
Apart from the superb location, the Dikker en Thijs Fenice hotel offers you every modern comfort that can be expected of a 4 star hotel. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, a well stocked mini bar and access to wireless internet. Most rooms have a magnificent view of the canals and the city. Rooms with canalview are available on request at an additional fee. In the evening you can relax with a drink or a snack in Restaurant Thijs that is established in a beautiful 18th Century warehouse.

It was a very warm weekend in Amsterdam, unable to sleep in the morning, due to lack of aircondition, stayed on top floor, probably cooler further down...

Ideal location for restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions!!
+
Very large, clean, comfortable room, with a luxury feel. Friendly & helpful staff. Perfect location, central to everything!!! I will definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.
–
The bed linen (although lovely and crisp and clean) was has hard and scratchy: my daughter has sensitive skin and was covered in lumps from it. I also found it a bit like sand paper.

Only negative point was the hotel bar was closed for renovations until next year and it would have been nice to know in advance as we like a night cap before retiring.

Nice hotel, breakfast poor and expensive
+
Very clean and comfortable with a great location. Staff very helpful and friendly.
–
Breakfast was far too expensive for what was served. I only ate breakfast once because at 12.50 I thought that the food available, and the amount allowed per personwas VERY poor value for money. I ate the supposed large breakfast not the small one for 6.50. We went to the Bakery and bought our breakfast fresh each day, for a fraction of the price you charged. We saw many of the hotel guests buying their breakfast either at the bakery, or in a nearby cafe. You should survey the number of guests who eat in the hotel and what they think. Long overdue for change of either price or food available. This was the ONLY bad point in an excellent stay with your hotel.

Overall very good & we'd come back again.
+
The hotel was clean & well maintained. We didn't have the hotel-breakfast because the hotel was well located & there were plenty of other places to eat. Also really easy to get to by public transport and well placed to walk to other places as well as being near a chemist.
The night reception person was very friendly & extremely helpful.
The room we had was big & they added an extra bed for our little person. Beds were comfortable, clean & the room was well equipped - We even had a kettle.
Overall the place was worth the money (considering it was Amsterdam)and we'd come back again.
–
Pretty much all good but 2 points lost were on service & comfort:
1.The rooms facing the street were a little noisy (from the trams & late-night revellers) - double glazing wouldn't have hurt. No good if you're a light sleeper.
2. The morning receptionist wasn't at all nice and she preceeded to argue with a hotel guest over the phone.

Great hotel on a noisy location
+
Very big, and very comfortable room. The bed was really good. Also an excellent location to do the touristy things of Amsterdam. Not hat expensive, and very friendly staff.
–
The hotel is on a busy street and apart from the noise of trams, you do get a free concert of the Amsterdam Pub Closure Choir thrown in.
