Two-star hotel with 3-star service

• + The staff was very responsive; breakfast was good but not the juice, and there was no fresh fruit offered. The beds were comfortable, hotel was clean, and though in the tourist zone, we were on the top floor facing away from the street, which made our room quiet and private. Very nice quality towels for such an inexpensive hotel.
• – The rudeness of other guests is not under control of the hotel, so no minus points.
• * my tip Very centrally located, all of Amsterdam within easy reach. Don't forget to leave something for the cleaners! They do a good job -

Great location for a basic place!

• + Great location, quiet room with all basic facilities. Also good selection at breakfast.
• – Room wasn't ready at check in time and towels were provided a few hours after that.
• * my tip We went for a quick night away, highly recommend the pub crawl for nightlife and also a restaurant called Van Kerkwijk which is just off Dam Square for some good quality dishes.

Great Place For A Weekend Getaway

A bargain for such a good location

• + Very clean hotel and reasonably priced, perfect location and the staff are very friendly. In particular, after being initially ripped off on getting a taxi to the hotel George managed to sort us out a good deal for the return taxi to the airport.
• – Breakfast finishes quite early (think it was 9.30), although that's quite possibly our fault because we were generally hungover.

This hotel does not know the meaning of customer service.

• + The location is the only positive thing.
• – Most of the front desk staff was very rude and not customer oriented. They did not seem to be bothered with anything, even giving an official receipt for my stay. I wonder if they are even paying taxes. The attitude of the breakfast person was as if she had bought the food herself and did not want to spend too much, and so they ran out of stuff after only one hour. No remote for the television, and the staff blamed it on the customers' stealing them. How hard is it to have a sign-out policy?
• * my tip Do not stay here. These hotels exist because people still go there. No remotes for the televisions, no food in the rooms, no friends in the rooms, etc., etc. I got screamed at when I asked if my room was ready when I arrived an hour early before check-in. In the end it was ready.

Comfortable stay in the best location where you can feel the city

• + Perfect location. Everything at your doorstep. The public transportation is 1 minute walk. The room (double room) was clean and normal. Bathroom also. They change the towels every day. You get free wifi with quite good speed. The breakfast - included in the price - was OK.
• – The walls are extremely thin. The doors are extremely heavy, so every time one door was closing, the whole building heard it and felt it. There is quite vivid nightlife around the hotel, so I would recommend for only those who party and who doesn't mind the noise.

I wouldnt recommend this hotel

• + The hotel is very central, and it is very easy to walk from it to most districts.
• – The hotel had taken too many reservations, so we were first put in a tiny room and had to change rooms in the middle of our stay. Once in our new (and much larger) room, we were disturbed by the manager at 11.30 pm because he needed the extra mattress that was in our room! The double bed was actually 2 single beds put together. Breakfast was quite plain and lacked choice, given the price of the rooms in the hotel. There are quite a few cats in the hotel, which is nice but not very hygenic.

• + Bon accueil avant que la chambre soit libre par un personnel sympathique et une bonne tasse de café. La situation de l'hotel est idéale pour visiter la ville. La rue est calme
• – Hôtel très mal isolé phoniquement, hygiène de la chambre limite (sauf S de B OK), même pas une table ni une chaise pour se poser, juste le minimum. La literie mériterait d'être remplacée. Bref, on en a pour notre fric (200 € 3 nuits avec Petits dej, c'est pas trop mal.

• – - Rooms smell badly - Breakfast choice is really poor - Our luggage was stolen (nobody took care about it since they suggested to leave it in the hotel after check-out) though they haven't told us that's it not on their responsibility and that they do have a locker for valuable things.

Bare basics

• + Loved the two "house cats".
• – Beds are increadibly noisy. The light from the hotel sign shines in through the windows and makes it hard to sleep. Also noise travels easily from outside into the room.

Great location and value for money - highly recommended

• + - close to the centre and major tram lines - big comfy room with a king size soft bed - large clean bathroom - TV and wireless internet connection - good continental breakfast (great coffee machine)
• – - no lift and steep stairs - staff somewhat intimidating (they never smiled!) - with open windows it can be a bit noisy in the evening (byt hey, it's Amsterdam! )

Stay Away!

• + The staff were very friendly and helpful which was a bonus.
• – The only positive of my stay were the staff. The room I stayed in was totally gross- dirty bed linen, condom stuck on the roof and the carpet floor was filthy. I would never stay here again!

OK not great. Small and rather dirty

• + Relatively close to the city center. It would be walking distance but I took a cab b/c it got late and I wasn't familiar with the area. The cab cost 15 Euro and dropped me off at 140 Kerkstraat rather than at the hotel (25 Kerkstraat). The driver assured me it was only 20 more meters, when it was probably closer to a half kilometer. I wasn't happy! Breakfast of cold meat sandwiches was filling and adequate.
• – room was quite small. I had a basement room with only one window to a fire escape so I left the TV on all night so it wasn't so dark. I had to ask for more toilet paper (there were about 2 squares on the roll in the room). The door wouldn't open all the way b/c the bed was in the way. This room would have been nearly impossible with two people or with much luggage. It worked OK for me b/c I was alone with only a small backpack. Bathroom was nice (albeit small) and recently remodeled. However, the room wasn't remarkably clean. There was a booger on the wall (eew) and the sheets weren't very clean.

Disapointment

• + Good location.
• – We got moved to another room without being asked. When we came home one night someone else was in our room and all our things had been thrown into our bags. We then got moved to a room just like the one we had before! It is really not ok to let someone else into a room where our bags were still on the bed. Also every single day our keycard for the door did not work and we had to get a new one. All in all we had a very bad experience. Calling this a Hotel is not correct as we are really talking about a poorly managed hostel.

• + they let us store our suitcase before check in and after check out. Location good for shopping areas. Good shower.
• – Very basic accommodation, similar to a youth hostel. Staff were not friendly until we left (?). Breakfast was very poor and fruit / fruit juice could not be identified. Room wasn't serviced during the day but towels were changed.

Although it's a far cry from the Ritz, for the money you will not find anything remotely as good - certainly not in a smelly, noisy and overpriced hostel. Overall, very good value for money and would definitely recommend! The location in particular is incredible, very central but on a quiet street near a canal.
• – There was some dog crap outside which got on my suitcase! Not really the fault of the hotel, but it was a bit unpleasant so I would recommend keeping an eye on the outside as well...

Good base to explore amsterdam unless ur a "princess"

• + Location is a bit way out away from touristy areas, but easy links to tram or even walking will get u into centre. In fact, its probably good base to walk/cycle around the town, as its so easy. Friendly and helpful staff, cute cat for those allergic to cats. Few nearby coffeeshops as well.
• – Nothing really. If ur not fussed about location, this is good value.

• – the room was so small you could barely get in with your bag - the door didn't fully open (room S02). but i do think the room sizes vary, so check it out beforehand, if you can.

Everything's OK in fact

Good staff, bad breakfast and increased pricing...

• + 24 hour reception and friendly staff. Clean spacious room with new bathroom. Beds were small but confortable.
• – Breakfast was poor (only bread and butter with orange juice) and when arriving, if paying by credit card, you have to give 5% more, plus the other 5% of city tax (10% total). Not much but i think this should be included in booking price to avoid surprises. Other customers were often complaining at the reception for the same reason.

Double charge for single night ruined my visit to Amsterdam!

• + Central location in Amsterdam yet still quiet at night. Clean, and neat.
• – Authorisation taken on credit card during booking of single room was not used as payment during check in despite the funds already being deducted from my account (ie. no longer available to me). I was forced to pay the last cash I had on me to cover the room charge. This ruined my day/night in Amsterdam as I had no more funds for lunch and dinner (etc...) and barely enough to get to Schipol the next morning. I find this unacceptable! Furthermore, the purchase was later put through on my credit card account despite my stay having been paid for with cash. This meant I paid twice for my single night's accommodation due to poor administration on the hotel's side. The issue is currently being addressed with the hotel directly - still pending a resolution. This has caused me to rate the service level as "1".

Great Hotel - Fire Alarm Works Well

• + The room was very comparable to the three star we stayed in the night before only considerably less expensive. The breakfast was also very good, but get there early if you like eggs or cheese. The wireless internet is also very fast. Just ask at the front desk for the password.
• – The fire alarm went off at four in the morning! I don't think I've ever woken up screaming in my adult life until that moment. The good news is there was no fire and if there had been, there's no way anyone could sleep through that alarm. The reason the fire alarm went off? Some knucklehead was smoking in the bottom level. Let me stress, however, that the hotel was not responsible for the actions of this idiot and handled the situation very well. When I returned to my room I looked out the window where a cab was waiting for the smoker to gather his things. Don't even think of smoking here.

good hotel to sleep and have breakfast in

• – heating wasn't on in the room- got v cold by night-had to get that turned on as the fan wasn't working fire alarm went off at 4am because somebody decided to smoke- please change the alarm- it is horrific- sounds like screaming cat on full volume! boiled eggs in breakfast didnt seem freshly made- they were cold and I was one of the first to start breakfast

• + It's an excellent hotel. I'm very satisfied. I'd recommend it for sure. The location is great and the room was very good althought is very little. But it's clean and for a short staying is great.

• – Amsterdam is very expensive. We spent 73 euros for one night in this hotel and our room was downstairs, without windows becouse it was under the ground line and the bed was not so clean (maybe because there are some cats going around the hotel...)The breakfast was average, but not so good.

• – I guess u never saw such small rooms like in this hotel. Walls are thin and we had listen weeded turkish guys in room opposite. We got triple room instead of double as we booked before. when we decided to leave earlier than planned because of the weather, they didn't give us refund.

I would give them 8,5 out of 10. Money/value ratio is great!

• + The location is totally sweet, it's calm but few minutes from all important day and night places to visit! Personel is really nice and they can show you on the map the best places to see. 24h reception really works. No problems with check in late. Everything is clean. Non-smoking policy inside hotel. Price/Value ratio is great!

• – Nobody cleaned my room and my bathroom while I was there. The towels were changed only once because I was in my bedroom when the lady nocket at the door.

• + Excellent. Stayed one night. B&B 86euros inc local tax for which you get a very clean room with ensuite shower. Bed was very comfy and it had a flat screen TV. Single room was small but adequate-if all your doing is sleeping. Not a place to spend a lot of time in but if you sleep there and maybe have an afternoon rest before you hit the town its ok. Very close to Leidesplein and at the price I reckon its one of the better budget hotels - definitely use it again -.

• – The comfort & safety of guests is not a priority of the hotel! The only exit door of a corridor serving various rooms was blocked daily with luggage making it imposible to exit! The fire alarm sounded late one night, there was no check to see if a fire existed and guests were not informed of anything! No view at all from the window as there was a high wall. The ceiling seemed like it was going to cave in when people walked in the room above- seriously! We were only told on check in of an extra charge for credit card use (It was obligatory to pay in advance!). After returning with the stipulated amount the female receptionist informed us that we needed more money to pay a deposit so we had to make another trip to the cash machine! The Rooms were not cleaned daily! On the day of check out, we found that a message left to the same young female recepcionist for an early breakfast was not passed on and a novice receptionist (nonetheless very kind) was left to check out, all this causing substantial delay (25 mins!)and almost causing us to miss our flight.

• – Terrible customer service. When I phoned in to confirm my booking few days before my arrival, the reception guy was talking to three other people while talking to me on the phone, as well as answering his private calls on a mobile phone. When I came to the hotel on the date of my arrival, he was still on the phone and he left me waiting there for 20 minutes watching him as he was talking to his manager. Afterwards he was telling me about overbookings and their internal management problems (which I obviously do not care about). It was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

• + Well located,quiet street, easy to find and just around the corner from tram route and lots of facilities. Recently refurbished, so clean and fresh. Basic but adequate facilities, helpful staff. Stayed in quad room with family which although a little lacking in space was enough to meet our needs for an overnight stay. A decent "no frills" hotel.
• – Breakfast a bit basic,slightly limited choice, could have done with fresh fruit (and some butter!)

Only mentioning of that is a sign in reception. Did NOT pay this though. Summary, did not feel treated as a welcome customer.

• – Das Hotel war mit Fahrstuhl gekennzeichnet, jedoch muss eine kleine und steile Treppe zum Empfang bewerkstelligt werden, auch führt nur eine Treppe in den im Keller liegenden Frühstücksraum = starkes Handycap für Ältere oder Gehbehinderte. Ausstattung sehr minimalistisch: nur 1 Handtuch pro Person; keine Fernbedienung für TV ( sehr hoch angebracht!) - oder die AirCon (nicht zu erreichen, Fenster konnten alternativ nicht geöffnet werden).

Top Lage, gutes Frühstück - aber nichts für penible Urlauber!

• + Die Lage des Hotels ist echt super!! Man kann alles sehr bequem zu Fuß erreichen. Für einen kurzen Wochenendtrip mit Freunden war das Hotel wirklich ideal! Beim Frühstück gab es zwar keine Riesenauswahl, war aber typisch niederländisch und der Kaffee war sehr sehr lecker.
• – Spinnenweben an den Decken. Betten relativ unbequem und sehr enge Räumlichkeiten. Badezimmer war in Ordnung. Allerdings waren die Kacheln bei der Toilette aufgeplatzt und eine Spalte zwischen der Spülung und den Kacheln mit Toilettenpapier (sehr unapettitlich) ausgestopft.

Nur zum schlafen ok

Ohne Erwartungen hingefahren und trotzdem enttäuscht...

• – Zimmer im Keller war winzig, kein Fenster nur ein Oberlicht. Heizung ging nicht richtig, TV auch nicht, im Bad keine Heizung daher war es bitterkalt, nur eine Bettdecke vorhanden, Bett war max. 1,40m breit, Kopfkissen waren dagegen 20cm dick so dass man kaum drauf liegen konnte. Frühstück war auch nicht berauschend-im Frühstücksraum laufen die beiden Katzen des Besitzers rum. Uns hat das nicht gestört da alle Speisen abgedeckt waren.

Die schlafloseste Nacht aller Zeiten! HORROR!

• – viiiiiiiiiiiiele: In der ersten Nacht konnte man GAR NICHT schlafen, da die Türen sehr laut auf und zugehen und das Hotel allgemein viel zu hellhörig ist!!!! Nebenan waren Leute, die alle 15 Minuten mit den Türen geknallt haben, das ist nicht übertrieben!!! Und es wurde seitens der Hotelleitung nichts dagegen unternommen!!! Gnädigerweise bekamen wir für die zweite Nacht ein anders Zimmer. Dort war es ETWAS ruhiger. Die Sauberkeit ließ aber allgemein sehr zu wünschen übrig! Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit zwei EInzelbetten reserviert, bekamen aber ein Zimmer mit Doppelbett. Das war nicht weiter schlimm. Als wir jedoch freundlich (!) nach einer zweiten Bettdecke fragten, bekamen wir zur Antwort, dass wir ja die Heizung höher drehen könnten, dann bräuchten wir gar keine Bettdecke.... Auch sonst waren die Servicekräfte meistens (bis auf eine Ausnahme) nicht sehr freundlich. Fazit: NIE WIEDER! Dieses Hotel ist nur etwas für Hörgeschädigte oder Leute, die keinen Schlaf benötigen bzw. selber die ganze Nacht Party machen wollen.

Dit is een leuk backpackershostel.

Perfecte locatie maar eigen huisregels worden niet nageleefd

• + Locatie vlakbij het Leidseplein is ideaal, en de Kerkstraat is toch een redelijk rustig straatje.
• – De huisregels van het hotel worden niet nageleefd. Zo wordt er uitvoerig gerookt en geblowt in de kamers en zou het na een uur of elf stil moeten zijn. We zijn beide nachten dat we er verbleven tot diep in de nacht uit onze slaap gehouden door zeer luidruchtige andere hotelgasten.

• – Zimmer sind hellhörig. Dielen knarxen. Man hat die Bewegungsabläufe im Zimmer über uns gehört. Die Auswahl am Frühstücksbuffett war sehr begrenzt.

Zijn geld niet waard, waardeloos, voor 20 euro meer in het Krasnapolsk

• + De locatie is het enige pluspunt
• – Voor 20 euro meer zit je in het 5 sterren Krasnapolski op de Dam en dat zou ik zeker doen. Wat een slecht hotel en absoluut zijn geld niet waard. Typisch zo'n toeristen-uitmelk-hut. Ontbijt is waardeloos, kamers klein, alles is oud en het is niet te hopen dat er ooit brand uitbreekt want dan ben je de pineut. Gelukkig was ik dronken toen we gingen slapen.

Goed hotel voor dagje Amsterdam

• – De kamer was erg klein. De 2 eenpersoonsbedden konden er net in. Verder lagen wij op de zolderverdieping. Erg warm. Het aanwezige airco-apparaat stond uit. De 2 dakramen konden gelukkig ver open. S nachts werd ik lekgeprikt door de muggen. De ramen hadden geen horren. De tv had geen afstandsbediening en de badkamer was zo klein dat je je kont niet kon keren. Tot slot waren er geen dekens voorhanden, slechts 2 lakentjes. Toen wij om dekens vroegen omdat het snachts nogal kon afkoelen kregen we 2 extra lakens. Al met al niet de prijs waard die men er voor rekent.

• – s nachts erg veel lawaai douchekop die vast zit kleine kamer eerste ochtend alleen oud wit brood tweede dag goed.

• – Wir hatten das Gefühl, dass aus einem Zweibettzimmer mal eben ein Vierbettzimmer wurde. Feldbetten sie super knarrten. Zimmer sind sehr klein und ungemütlich, aber sauber.

Goed voor een weekendje weg

• – de receptionist vroeg bij aankomst of ik last had van claustrofobie en dat ik maar eerst de kamer moest zien. Dit viel reuze mee alleen was het in het souterain en was er weinig uitzicht vanuit het raam hooguit een meter en dan was er een muur van meters hoog, maar voor een paar nachten viel dat mee.

• – oa televisie doordat gasten de ab meenemen onbegrijpelijk is het vervelend om uit je bed te moeten om de zender te veranderen maar word door het hotel aan gewerkt.

• + Vriendelijk personeel, alles goed geregeld, erg schoon ook, ontbijt is ook heel goed en uitgebreid. Leuk ook, die 2 katten die zo nieuwsgierig zijn en speels. Dat geeft wel een huiselijke sfeer. Ik ga zeker vaker in het hotel overnachten. Complimenten. Groetjes, Willeke

Hotel dicht bij het Leidseplein

• + Dicht bij het Leidseplein. Keurig maar eenvoudige kamer.
• – Personeel was (op 1 persoon na) niet echt behulpzaam. Zat achter de receptie zo van: het is dat ik hier moet wezen en alleen maar te internetten. Er lopen katten in de eetzaal rond. LET OP: voor de begane grond moet men wel een trapje op.

• – 3 persoons kamer is eigenlijk een 2 persoonskamer.

klinkt leuk maar realiteit is anders

• – prijskwaliteit is bedroevend laag. Ontbuit.. welk ontbijt ??Kamer ligt in de kelder en was muf en koud. verwarming deed het niet en het wat de winterperiode 2010 met nachttempartuur van -7 graden. De kelder met nog 3 andere kamers hoorbaar veel rumoergeluid TV. Tevens de hele nacht niet geslapen om de 30 minuten brandalarm! Bleek weliswaar storing te zijn die pas na 01.30 uur in de nacht was opgelost. Uiteraard was de kamerprijs maar € 30.00!

• – prijs-kwaliteit verhouding zoek, misleiding van de aanbieding ``van 350 voor 90 euro`` kijk uit,! 90 euro is nog teveel. Kwaliteit bedden slecht, stapel bed zonder veiligheids rand, hoeveel matrassen kan ik kwijt per m2, kamer, daarnaast een kamer met een vieze rook lucht en een niet werkende verwarming (voor dagen), zeer koude bedden tot gevolgd.

Een eenvoudig maar net hotel waar wij best nog eens naar toe komen

• + Lekker centraal, alles op loopafstand. Eenvoudige maar nette kamer.
• – Door dunne wanden en vloeren is het binnen gehorig. De eerste nacht prima geslapen, niks aan de hand. Tweede nacht door luidruchtige gasten in de kamer naast ons, die diep in de nacht thuiskwamen, vrijwel niet geslapen.

• + Dit hotel ligt heerlijk midden in het centrum, bijna alles is te belopen en zo niet dan is de tram halte om de hoek. Alles ziet er netjes uit, ontbijt is ruim voldoende, niet echt luxe maar vers en lekker. De bedden waren schoon en fris. De bediening was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam.
• – Wel een paar min punten, het douche putje stonk enorm en de verwarming deed het niet zodat even zitten niet echt behaaglijk was ook de afstands bediening werkte niet, jammer. De bedden kraakten wel erg maar verder geen echte klachten de bediening was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam!!!
