Reviews

The following independent reviews were entered by guests after their stay at the hotel.

Anonymous Great location for the price if you can handle filthy carpet!
6.2
+ Good location for places to eat and see the major museums.
- Carpet was filthy and it made the room environment most unpleasant. Same breakfast everyday and should have some changes when you have people staying longer than two days.
Anonymous A decent hotel if you are willing to sacrifice comfort for location
5.4
+ Great location, right next to Leidseplein. Relatively clean. Bus to airport right outside hotel. Free internet in the lounge. Buffet style breakfast at a fee.
- very uncomfortable beds. Small room, tiny elevator which require a room key which can be annoying if you are coming and going often. Some of the staff was friendly and helpful, some not so much.
Chuck Some good, some bad

+ Good breakfast, Staff were helpful in organizing our trip to Keukenhof. English spoken very well by all staff.
- Four requests over two days to get the TV to work were ignored; it didn't work when we left. The carpet was quite dirty/stained and needs to be replaced. Room 101 is very noisy with street traffic and smokers at the front door make the room smell bad when the window is open.

+ Excellent location. Though it is on the main road, i don't hear much of the traffic from my room. Clean. Value for money.
- Single room is quite small. Breakfast is too expensive.

Richard Freeman Great place but with a sting in the tail
8.4
+ Friendly staff, proximity to attractions, comfortable rooms
- Expensive breakfast, poor quality breakfast, no signage and communication about breakfast prices, no air con so had to have windows open onto very busy street.
Yiannakis Christophides I WOULD USE IT AGAIN
8.2
+ Very good breakfast. Excellent location.
- Smallroom. The entrance to the hotel should be difficult for old people or those with some incapacity.
Alan Enjoyable stay
9.2
+ Hamlet was a delightful and attentive hotel employee. His suggestions were very helpful toward a very pleasant stay in Amsterdam.

7.0
+ Very close to the Leidesplein
- There weren't any chairs in the garden
Renee Joyce Excellent hotel - great location, clean modern rooms
8.2
+ I have stayed in many hotels in Amsterdam and dread the moment I open my hotel door for the first time because I've had so many bad experiences. But the Eden was a pleasant surprise. The room was a good size for an inner city Amsterdam hotel, the furbishings were modern and newish, the bathroom was functional and clean and there was a lift. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was perfect. This is now my regular hotel everytime I visit Amsterdam.
- There is no airco in the rooms and since the hotel is situated on a busy road I can imagine in the summer time it could be quite noisy to sleep with the window open. The walls are quite thin (but this is also normal for Amsterdam) so you could hear a lot of what your neighbours are up to.
Dewaet Eden no but also not hell

Brian Dependable medium hotel

+ The hotel location was very good - the rooms were clean and tidy.
- The bar service was terrible The rooms were too small The lift was too small and the stairs too steep. The cleaner came into my room without knocking whilst I was sleeping!

+ Location, TV, Internet, part of the staff was good.
- I booked an advanced room, I don't think the room was as good as it should have been. The room was standard level. Price was quite high because of that. The first room you gave me was awful (small like a box). The second room was bit better. The intern (girl) at the desk was not that good... Really slow and didn't know anything. You should have more staff. Now the same person who was at the desk was also at the bar. So it sometimes took some time to get service...

- Room rather small.Having booked two double rooms at the same time well in advance, we were disappointed not to at least be on the same floor

+ Excellent location, just cross the road and walk up the main road and you can get to everything in Amsterdam! Booked 2 rooms but 1 party cancelled, didnt think wed get the money back but did. Bed was the most comfortable thing ive slept in, get room 209 if you can, at front of building and only one with blacony. Rooms are a little on the smaller side, but you didnt travel all this way to stay in!!!
- Some reviews nearly put me off staying here but im glad i ignored them. The rooms arent as small as people make them out to be. The bed is extremely comfy but does seem to store your body heat and warm you up, could possibly get annoying in summer if you dont open a window

+ Dead easy to find from the motorway and in a really convenient location to casino, transport and nightlife, all of which are in easy walking distance.Staff very good and talk to Clifford for what to do,where to go and advice on local specialities.
- Do not expect a large bedroom.2 of us struggled with placing our luggage in it.The bathroom is small too and expect a wet shower curtain stuck to your bum in the small shower.Better deals can be had as this was pricey for the quality. Also drinks in the bar are well over priced and the bar round the corner is cheaper and more fun

8.8
+ This well maintained hotel with friendly staff is not in a charming location but it's convenient with a short walk to Leidse Plein.
- Parking garage costs too much at €32/night especially since its also inconvenient with manually open/close of outside door in rainy weather across the street and around the corner from the hotel. Double parking system means possibility of a long wait while the blocking car is moved after going back to report problem to hotel personnel.

+ We really liked the location of the hotel. The other positive things included use of internet, bar, and breakfast. There were days when we would not get room service but were clean towels hanging on the door for us. That was a nice suprise!
- The only negative thing that I have to say about this hotel is that they gave our room key to someone else in the party who we had only met 3 days prior. Luckily, nothing was taken, but we were very upset to hear about it.

+ Great location, Free internet was good. The staff were efficient helpful when asked and non intrusive. We were expecting less.
- room was a bit small but there is so much to do in Amsterdam and other seating areas available in other parts of the hotel the twin beds were challenging at times but comfortable

+ the receptionist were extremley helpful and polite by giving us directions and places of interest to visit.
- When arriving in Amsterdam central station the otel does not appear on any of the information points, so when i arrived in amsterdam i had to ring the hotel for directions therefore costing me money i didn't need to spend.

+ The location of the hotel.

+ Excellent professional staff. Free Internet is nice touch. Room was small but tastefully done, and clean.
- Only drawback was bedding did not look as fresh as can be and had a few head hairs on the white under sheets

+ It is near the centre of the town. Excellent location.
- The room is not clean enough I mean floor is not clean! It is not the problem of the people who clean It is the problem of the owners. Instead of "tepsion" you have to put laminate on the floor.

- The bed was uncomfortable, the room was very small, even for a single bedroom. Noisy. Breakfast was a bit dissappointing. Very bad coffee!!

+ The Staff made us feel very welcome at all times and were very helpfull with our queries.
- Our room was very, very small. the smallest room we have ever stayed in, in a hotel! We had seen a couple of the other rooms and our's seemed to have been the smallest-this would have been classed as a single room in Ireland, and many other countries

6.0
+ Location is very close to shopping area and tourist spots and public trasport is availalbe next door only
- The room is too small for the price charged. There was no place to move in the room and keep the luggage. It would be better if a picture of the room interior is displayed on line so that the customer can know the size of the room. Secondly the mattress was very uncomfortable to sleep since it was spring loaded and caused me back pain. That is why I had to shift to another hotel after cutting short my stay in this hotel.

+ I requested a room not too high up as and they gave me the room on the bottom floor. The rooms were very comfortable and very warm! Overall a cosy hotel!
- Breakfast was very expensive! Bar and food menu also very expensive, when I ordered a toastie, it took ages, slow service here. Not that far from central station, if you like to walk its a great location, but it's not that hard to get to, just hop on a 1, 2 or 5 tram from Central Station!

+ Good location, comfortable bed, Internet a bonus.
- Expensive (more than other Amsterdam hotels) drinks and snacks in vending machines.

8.2
+ Ideal location with most sites within easy walking distance. Although the rooms are small they are ideal for a short break. Rooms are clean with the option to have towels changed daily.
- Breakfast was a bit too pricey, we never had breakfast in the hotel, cheaper to eat elsewhere.
