Nice even in the winter.

• + Unique design of the rooms, nice lobby bar, good breakfast, beautiful outdoor area.
• – Our "double" bed was actually two singles pushed together.
• * my tip Short walk to a nice cafe in Vondel Park behind the hotel.

A very nice and unusual hotel

• + Very nice atmosphere and unusual themed hotel
• – I found the bed uncomfortable as it felt like sinking into the middle of the mattress. Afterwards I heard it was a special coconut mattress so I'm not sure if it was meant to be like this or not.

• + Great location; suite was spacious; lots of light; huge bathroom.
• – Some bare necessities were missing: no dresser or closet to put clothes away! Room decor was less tasteful than expected; cheap materials used. Philosophy theme seemed a bit contrived and hokey. Should not charge for breakfast!
• * my tip Beware: stairs are extremely steep and difficult to climb, so ask for a lower floor unless you are able-bodied!

In some ways very good but I was given a poor room

• + Very helpful receptionist who helped with advice on visiting museums and public transport.
• – Was put in cellar Room No 1 which was very damp and the bathroom was dingy

A great stay, the room smoke detectors are setoff by shower steam

• + Very friendly atmosphere, by hotel staff. Artistic decor, nice back yard. Great room keeping, and custodian work. Very basic, but good breakfast menue.
• – Problems, with wifi internet, at the lounch, no internet access in the rooms, no refrigerators.

The hotel was comfortable and reasonably priced.

• + My flight was late and I arrived past midnight. The receptionist was really friendly, courteous and professional, and made me feel very welcome.
• – The taxi driver had to call the hotel as it was under another name. Name on website should be the same as the sign outside.

• – Missing light above mirror (Room 116); Shower splashes through the whole bathroom.(No curtain)

hotel room and view excellent and lady receptionists were lovely.

• + the room and outlook were beautiful and the barman and lady receptionists were so lovely and helpful with my request for hot water in my mug. the room cleanliness were great too.
• – i was very tired on arrival at your hotel and your male receptionist was not very welcoming and not even a smile whereas all the ladies were lovely. he did not even give me a map until i read it in the hotel info. i think he would benefit from a course on people skills and learn from the girls. marleen in patrticular was full of smiles and so helpful even showed me good restaurants and helped me with the map.

Excellent higyene, well located and fair price/quality

• + Definitely fair price/quality. Comfort/service: Higyene is absolutely excellent. Absolutely clean. No dust at all. No odors at all. Location: excellent. Walk distance to a wonderful park, to bus stops and a bike/scooter rental service. Staff very polite and helpful. Comfort: compatible with category and price. Breakfast: no info about this.
• – Service: bathroom needs some minor servicing on the mirror, painting and tiles. Not enough shower soap. Comfort: Expect narrow and steep stairs. This is not a surprise at all in Amsterdam, actually. You are warned. Location: There are 2 streets with very similar names. Even local residents may eventually find themselves confused about this. It took me 30+ minutes walking around to find the correct address. They should make their address and directions absolutely clear (and capital letters) in their website, emails, leaflets, etc.

Definately rent a bike in Amsterdam.

• + The staff was very friendly and helpful. If u rent a bike you are not that far away from things. There is bike rental chain whose flier you can find in the lobby. Quiet area steps from major park with lake. Nice park. The philosophical theme was painted throughout, which was pretty cool.
• – The safe and television did not work. No WiFi in rooms. The floor was sloped. Small for even European standards. It was a busy weekend and they could not move me until the 3rd night but they did refund me 20% for the first 2 nights.

lovely location worth expoloring. Stay in the main house if possible.

• + great quiet location, nice public rooms in hotel main building, friendly and helpful staff
• – not all rooms are in the main building, some are located in other buildings over the road! This we think lead to a lot of noise from residents that maybe you don't get in the main building. we were disturbed all night by the heavy room doors and front doors which slam shut when people are coming and going which really did go on all night! Also we wre 3 in our room and only had enough towels on the first day. Once housekeeping came we were left with just 2.

Great place to stay!

• + 10 minute walk to the city center. Nice bathroom, good shower. Comfortable beds, a little too soft. Good customer service!
• – 35 euro to get a taxi to/from the airport. Not many good restauraunts really close, mostly 10-20 minutes walking away.

Located near Vondel park and Leidseplein

Very Disappointed

• + It was walking distance to the city center.
• – i was sleeping with my partner and someone just walked into our room without even knocking. Just wallked right in and assumed no one was there. Very Very Rude!!! almost frightning. The shower always flooded out onto the bathroom floor and there was no heat in the bathroom. The soap was screwed onto the wall and so when it is low..like mine was. there is no way of getting any soap out. The Sheets smelled and were in very poor shape. What was up with the plastic in between the sheets too? We requested a late check out and we were charged for it. In all my years of travelling all over the world and stayed at many many hotels. High end and mid level...never NEVER have i been charged a late check out fee. That's just BS. Overall. I was very disappointed. I don't think ill be returning and will not recommend it to anyone.

Charming friendly quiet hotel in excellent location

• + Friendly helpful staff with good local knowledge Great location, good ambience, relaxing place to stay, good to have internet access
• – Had to ask for sufficient towels every day

BEWARE Pictures not real!

• + friendly staff, well located especially if you get a bike.
• – dirty advertising. it looked wonderful on the internet, but oh, what a hole! a lick of paint, a new carpet and curtains wouldn't cost more than €500.

Great Hotel in Fantastic location

• + Friendly staff, good location, interesting design rooms and overall a pleasant stay.
• – Hotel looks a little messy and the towels were not clean and had stains on them.

It's okay, but...

• + Good area, nice park (Vondelpark) just around the corner. Line 1 is just 4 minutes away. Excellent service - they provide you a good list for restaurants.
• – Rooms are very small - some rooms are too small to store the suitcases away. The shower has no door to close hence the whole floor is wet. Breakfast is overpriced - better go downtown.

Review the room, before accepting

• + Location, although parking a car might be a challenge.
• – We stayed in room nr 14. In bathroom, upper board of the door, was very dirty. You can see dark blue dirt lines with drops of it - it was terrible. Lighting lamp of the "living room" was very dusty inside, nobody had cleaned for months. A bible was used to keep an heavy window open, we removed this. Reception refused to change coins for parking, as they are not an exchange machine. What if I would have liked to have a beer - could not sell - no exchange? After 450 km driving, we had to go to city to begg for a change, it was imparrasing. Breakfast was 15 euros per person, as if in luxury hotell. Instead we had good breakfast at bakery for 11 Euros for two adults. Last time we stayed at Prince Hotel, the same street, nothing special, but clean and friendly. I am glad we did not have children along this time. Never ever again.

reasonable accomodation for reasonable price.

• + Quiet side street bordering Voldenpark, off center yet central. Walking distance to major museums, jordaan, actually to everywhere.
• – Clean but not meticulous. Towels were not clean yet changed upon request.
