+ Not too far from the centre, in a decent location south of the city. Amsterdam Zuid
Anonymous Recommandable
8.8
+ All the essentials, nothing missing.
Anonymous Tiny but cheap rooms
6.2
+ Very cheap, not far from the city centre.
- Small rooms, and I mean really really small rooms. My room (single basic) was literally 4 sqm (2m x 2m) and the bed was really narrow. If all you need to do in the room is to sleep, then it's probably fine, but if you want to spend there more time you should check something else. Most of the guests were young, looking for fun, which sometimes means a bit of noise at night.
Anonymous Overpriced for what we got.....

+ Staff friendly.
- shower room too small.

+ Affordable price and close to the center (by tram 4 or 25) Close to the Amsterdam RAI Good service and kind stuff Clean room

Luc Kumps Excellent place to stay

+ Very quiet, clean and low budget (for this location) hotel.
- None, keeping in mind the low budget!
Anmol Rao HOTEL FLIPPER - Serves the purpose...but needs a lot of COMPROMISES!!!
4.0
+ + 76 euros (plus 3.8 euro city tax )...good price in amsterdam + hotel staff guides u very well...it has an all-chinese staff...surprising..but they are nice warm people.. + Typically meant for one night you need to just sleep and run..
- - SHARED SHOWER AND TOILETS (not bad in terms of clenliness but the whole concept of shared toilet....doesn't look too good to me) - had a tuf time finding that place...direction boards are there but still it doesnt serve the purpose... - not too far from public transportation...can be managed pretty well...just if u go there on a day when it is snowing heavily...you will face a problem...especially in the nights.. - the bed I got was rather a (half) single bed...and I am tall so it was a bit uncomfortable...and the room is a pigeonhole...I always thought Hong Kong hotels are small...but this was funny...come to think of it...for such a small room...if u pay 76 euros...it is still expensive isn't it ;-)
Thierry VERY Small Room

+ Good food. Nice people who work there.
- We stayed in a quad room and tried to sneak in a fifth person. Yeah, that didn't work. We had to pay an extra 110 EUR! Also, not very many bars/coffee shops near. Have to take a trip to the center (like 10 min ride).

+ I was so glad to stay at this hotel and on my next trip to Amsterdam I'll stay at Flipper again))))
noeleen grimes Plesant stay but like a hostel not a hotel
6.2
+ room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was lovely. selpt well both nights of my wk end stay and the staff were nice. if you dont mind getting a 2 metros into city centre its fine. no4 from grand central will get you there get off at 2nd stop in van woustraat. ul get off at bridge over canal walk take a left(canal should be on ur right)walk straight down and take 2nd right, its on the left.
- its at least 45 min walk to centre of city. its very hard to find. we had to get a taxi which cost 35euro fron central. rip off for a 5 minute journey. the room i booked looked nothing like the room i got i felt like i was staying in somebodies house not a hotel.telly was like a stamp. no aircon. no full lenght mirror either! small one above sink in bathroom.

dominique bruyere Cheap, clean and calm
7.2
+ very clean, friendly , very quiet street, (10 min) walking distance from the Rai expo/congress centrum
- very little room (common toilets and bath room)
John W Good location, bad everything else
3.6
+ Location is convenient, staff is friendly
- Small, hostel-like rooms; constant noise from next door; room not cleaned one day; smelly room and bath towels
Clemens Reasonable value for money
5.4
+ For the class of low budget hotels and the general hotel standards of Amsterdam, the Flipper gives reasonable value for money
- For tourists the location is too far away from the interesting places.
Juuso Horsma Ok hotel if you're not looking for luxury.
6.4
+ cheap and worth the money. traveling with 2 friends on a low budget so it was ok for us. if youre looking for luxury, this is not for you. hot water in shower and a place to sleep.
- bathroom was about +5-10c, we used it as a fridge.
Barry Good value.
6.6
+ 3 nights B&B for 2 persons in Oct 2009 for 125 Euro is very good.
- Room was very small.
JH Bedbugs
4.0
+ The bed was more or less comfortable, and the toilet was very close to our room.
- The private room we rented was extremely cramped and poorly ventilated, with a shower/sink room that did not drain well due to the slope of the floor. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Most importantly, my husband left with what could only have been bedbug bites -- very uncomfortable!
Song Ruifeng

+ The location and breakfast was good
- The bathroom is a bit small
Levent Bayindir Low price with more than moderate quality
8.8
+ - close to tram lines - low price with more than moderate quality - clean in general
- - i had difficulties to find the hotel a few times. It is located in a strange place. - the coffee machine in the room was very dirty. I could not use it.

5.6
+ the room was a decent size. perfect for sleeping off jet lag. there was always staff present.
- very hard to communicate with them. would not recommend this hotel to people staying there for more then one night; every time you leave the hotel you have to give back the room key to the front desk and then flash a card to let them know you are staying there when you come back.
Stephen White Inexpensive business travel
7.6
+ Helpful staff, good price
- shared bathroom, although this was not a problem

Rosita Fagan My stay at Hotel Flipper
4.4
+ The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was fine.
- Something has to be done in the bathrooms, so the water can flow better.
Ed Rip-off
4.4
+ The location suited me.
- i was forced to stay here as everywhere else in amsterdam was full during the IBC conference. the rate they charged was a shocking rip-off for what is essentially a budget-quality hotel.
Anonymous Like smoking
3.6
+ everything worked in principle breakfast was good for Amsterdam standards
- despite the non-smoking signs room was very smokey people were continuously using the "smoking garden" below my window, mostly not using tobacco room is tiny shared shower didn;t look clean
Miroslav Todorov Good - cheep choice

- Needs upgrade of Internet line!
Virginie & Mathias 3 days trip to Amsterdam at "Hôtel FLIPPER"
6.0
+ price, situation (in the south center of Amsterdam).
- staff (not smiley & efficient), services (expensive price of the internet access, a 20 euros card to "rent" to permit you to get in the hotel!?...)
Oana
9.2
+ the people in the service were kind and helpful. Thank you.
- the stairs the rooms at the 2nd floor (no windows, hard to ventilate) I was about to be given a single room at the first floor which looked definitelly better than the one I was actually given (at the 2nd floor), with no money refunded for this. :-)

Charlie B Maunsell
7.8
+ Great value & nice warm compact room, good front of house greeting
- TV didn't work in room 8 - all channels were blank, made worse by the fact that I could hear TV in other rooms!
Larry and Ann Byler
7.0
+ Service: With normal breakfast at 8, they served us at 7 on our checkout day when we had to leave early to catch our plane. Location: The hotel is near a tram stop. We chose to travel further to get a quiet backstreet location instead of nearby in the noisy downtown. Hygiene: The lavatory was cleaned daily, and we got new towels each day as well.
- We were charged ¤90 weeknights, ¤100 weekends. This is an absolute ripoff for a one-star hotel. Comfort: This is a minor point, but there needs to be more, or brighter, light in the room. We found it difficult to read.

8.2
+ The service is very nice and kind.some details were perfect.

7.4
+ If you want to experience the locals of Amsterdam, this hotel is ideal. It occupies part of an apartment block a few klms south of the city center where you get a real feel of the place. No.4 tram is just up the street so getting around is no problem. There is a shopping mart and everything you need close by. Breakfast is included and is quite good. Lots of fresh fruit etc.
- The hotel is an older one and so does need some renovation to get it up to scratch, one day. Most rooms have a shared bathroom but these are quite clean.
A.C. Fick
8.8
+ The staff were extremely friendly and helpful; the neighbourhood was a major positive element as it introduced the guest to a less 'tourist' oriented Amsterdam; rooms and public spaces were generally kept very clean.
- Breakfast could have been held until 10h30 rather than 10h00.

+ sorry to say this hotel did not have any positive points. we booked through hotels.nl just because it was 31st dec we were charged 4 times more for the same room. And the owner did not even greeted you or wished you.
- the breakfast was of no quality. in the rooms they used all LIDL stuff. We could not sleep through the night due to lot of noise and people walking in the corridor. Not a place to stay with kids at all.
Anonymous Budget hotel op goede locatie
6.8
+ Locatie
- Kamer erg sober
Anonymous Good when you don't need much
5.2
+ lies in a nice quiet area
- To expensive, small room, time for a refurbishment, sober breakfast.
Anonymous Cheap hotel if you only want a place to sleep; not recommended
3.8
+ - friendly and helpful staff - lot of brochures available - close to public transportation - some basic bathing products available - very clean rooms - fresh towels every day - 24h reception - decent breakfast included - television
- - tiny rooms - narrow corridors - unstable internet connection - although close to a train station, quite far off the city center - difficult to find in a residential area - shared bathrooms have both toilets and shower, which means entire bathroom is locked if one of them is used
Anonymous Prima verblijf in Amsterdam.

+ Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is prima. Goede en rustige ligging. Ontbijt scoort ook voldoende.
