super hotel

the hotel is right in the heart of amsterdam right beside dam square,(about 5 mins walk from the red light area) i would recommend it to anyone, the hotel is very clean and warm and the hotel staff were very helpfull./ friendly..the room was cleaned every day and was spotless.. i would like to thank every-one at the hotel very much for making our stay brill.... good luck

prob, the only bad point i could nit pick about was the stairs (no lift). not for the older person or any one with a phys, ailement..

I would recommend the hotel, but be aware of how cramped it is.

The location was excellent, and the reception staff were most helpful. The room was clean.

The room was very small. It has the tiniest shower that I have ever used. It did get quite noisy during the night. I had to borrow the remote control for the TV, and because of the way the TV was positioned, it was very difficult to view.

very basic, but very clean and central

Bed sheets and towels were really clean and perfectly white, not a single stain (could not say the same for the curtains, that were really dirty). Also, no mice whatsoever, which was absolutely great!!! Couldn't be any more central, perfect location. All in all, very basic, but a million times cleaner than another 4 hotels I have stayed in during the years. Staff at the reception very helpful, polite and lovely.

We were on the third floor, three very steep flight of stairs (52 steps in total, we counted them!), but that is typical of Amsterdam. If you have problems with stairs you should ask for a room on the ground/first floor, regardless of which hotel you stay in.

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately my matress was alot bigger than the base so this resulted in an uncomfortable sleep. One day I came back and noticed blood on my cover, then the next two nights there was sick on there also, which I can assure you wasn't me. I also found Pizza and chips under my bed which again wasn't me. But as mentioned above the staff were great, and the two people i travelled with had no complaints about their bed, it seems I was the unfortunate one. The hotel was by no means the worse hotel you could stay at whilst in Amsterdam though.

Amazing location, couldn't be more central. Good clean room, same about the bathroom. A satisfactory experience.

View from the window (i was in the smokers' wing) very poor but surely that's not a major problem? Maybe for the price you could expect a little more in the room in terms of extras (minibar, dvd player, cable tv..)

Mid week stay in the Dam.

Location, location, location and friendly staff. Room was clean, bedding was fresh and crisp, bathroom and shower very small but this is Amsterdam. At least the bathroom was clean and I mean shiny bathroom tiles!. I would definately stay there again as long as I don't get the same room.

The main hotel looked fresh and clean. The smokers hotel which is separate about 30 yards away (where I was staying)is a bit more tired looking. My room had a view of an air conditioning unit (worst view ever). However I wasn't there to sit and look out of the window all day long.

Excellent location, service and price! Breakfast in the room was ok, a nice start of the day but not a real meal. I could recommend this if you want to stay in the central Amsterdam to a reasonable cost!

If you want more comfort in the room and a breakfast buffet, you should choose another place.

Location was very good, short distance from the Dam, shopping and train station. We had to change rooms because of knee trouble and got a 3 persons bedroom right above the reception. Really good service for that. Was not troubled by any noise.

We did not stay at the same house as the reception first night, the smell there was horrible. Obviously smoking used to be allowed there since everything smelled of a heavy "anti-tobacco" smell. The room was on the top floor(nr. 57) and the desk lady said: " The room is not on the 5th floor", but is was at the top! 68 steps up a narrow stair, not good for people with knee trouble. The sink was clogged and the TV almost green.

The staff were very nice, helpful, and spoke perfect English. Having free, in-room wireless access was one of th reasons we stayed at the hotel. The other was the price, relative to location. Your website was the basis of our decision to book the room and it was a good choice, overall. The hotel reminded me of an Ibis.

We did not like having to turn-in a key each time we came and left. Just give us two keys. The room was too cold. If no lift is available, then employee service should be willing to take our luggage up the steps. We were on the 4th floor, meaning we walked 5 flights of steps each time we came and left the our room. Guests staying for multiple days should have the first option for rooms on lower floors. The idea of a carry-up breakfast is great. However, it also is over-priced for what you get. Either lower the price so that it matches the value of the itmes, or provide more food. The bathroom has a terrible design. All the internet reviews were right. The entire floor was soaking wet after taking a shower and the warm water wasn't very warm.

Friendly staff on reception. The location couldn't be better. Its really handy that you can buy beer from reception if you get back after the bars have shut and haven't quite had enough! Room was simply furnished and decorated but very clean. This was a last minute booking and I couldn't get into any of the 3 hotels I usually use, but would certainly consider staying here again particularly if travelling alone.

Didn't apply to me, but be aware that 1) stairs are typical canal-house steep and winding so dont take huge suitcases, 2) if you go to bed early the front rooms may seem noisy to you so ask for a back room, take earplugs, or try staying out late!!

please make sure to check that the tv´s and remotecontrol are working.we had to spend the whole weekend with a really high volume on the tv.quite erritteting!we are smokers,bout it would be nice if the room smelld nice the first time you come in.

The central location in the city.

The room was extremely dirty, there was even stains of blood in the blankets when I arrived. It was not cleaned the five days I stayed. Very old furniture. A lot of noise due to an extractor in front of the window and ugly views in my room. No lift and the luggage room was a collapsed wardrobe. I would never recommend it.
