+ The bedroom was excellent. The staff were very friendly. Check- out time 12 o`clock was a bonus. Bus-stop outside the hotel, with buses running every 5 -10 mins. It was a very enjoyable stay.

+ Larger rooms, good breakfast buffet, helpful reception

- Location - 10 min from the Central Station by bus. The quality was worse as compared to the previous stay (November 2010). One of the nights there was a peculiar smell coming from the AC. Writings on the wall, the housekeeping constantly forgets to replace the toiletteries, the reception forgets to keep track of the extra payments (laundry etc) leading to a mux-up at the check-out.

+ Stayed here before plenty of times, definitely rate it. Staff are welcoming and prompt at check in, was in room within 5 mins of arrival. Room was large, very clean and a shower separate from the bath was a touch! Just outside central Amsterdam, but the bus stop out the front makes it worth it.

+ Free wifi, but a bit unreliable. But the room had a network cable anyway so no problem. Good steak dinner.

- My XXL room was really just a M. I imagine anyone staying here to visit Amsterdam (I wasn't) would find the location a problem. WIth these two points, I don't think it's good value.

+ Easy reach of Centraal Station and city by public transportation Bus 48. Taxi E12.50. Very clean room, crisp linen. Bathroom spotless. Very comfortable. Staff friendly. I have used this hotel before and it was equally good. Recommended.

- Breakfast mediocre. Nothing to see locally, at all.

+ nice sized room, very comfortable bed, nice shower/bathroom, quiet - no noise from adjoining rooms or traffic. free wifi - excellent connection speed.

- lavatory separate from shower/bathroom, automatic minibar (which tried to charge me for looking inside!). location was a bit far for me to walk into city centre - only one bus (however bus stop was close enough). The fact that the whole hotel is going NO SMOKING from 1st July 2008.

- I have booked my room almost 2 month before arrivig. I asked a non smooking room on one of the top floors. At my arrival I have got a smooking room with apropriate smoked air on the first floor. Next day I was relocated to a room fitted to my willingness. It means, that I had to pack my luggages again etc.

+ The manager at the hotel was very accommodating and gave us a choice of rooms. In the end we chose a room with 2 single beds and a very comfortable sofa. My son loved it. They provided a superb service. My friend and I are planning to return in the summer. Tell Daniel (one of the waiter) that Craig says Hi.

- It was quite costly as each drink and snack was at an additiona cost. It would be an idea to increase the initial price to include breakfast or snack from the fridge.

+ Modern, clean, quiet hotel. Good value if you book using one of the advance deals.

- A little out of the way, but the bus stop is right outside the hotel and the number 48 is regular. The beds are very soft; if you want a double you'll be disappointed as our room had two single mattresses pushed together. The transparent bathroom wall is also very interesting...!

+ The bed is very comfortable. It's ten minutes by bus to Central Station. there are buses every 13 minutes, so communications are good enough.

- During the check-in we had to wait 1 hour and a half to our room be ready for us, as it was not ready at 15.00 as it should be. The cleaning girl woke us up at 9 a.m. just to ask when she could clean the room. That was quite disturbing. Another day, we found our toilet dirty.

+ Fantastic size bathroom. Generally bright and cheerful room. Staff were very helpful and polite. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Golden Tulip.

- Interior decoration of our room was a little too 'art-themed'. Maybe the colour scheme could be little more neutral and warm.

+ Comfortable bed, Great taste room, In a quite location but great distance to centraal station 5 mins on the bus number 48 (day bus) & 353(night bus) Friendly staff, Great bar, Shower was lovely too along with glass wall bathroom! Will definately use the hotel again if we return to Amsterdam! 10/10

- NONE! Honestly i cannot fault the hotel itself. maybe outside the hotel they should consider making a pathway to the opposite bus stop.

+ The bench seats that run the width of the room is good.

- Location is hopeless. Out of town and in the middle of nowhere. Buses not as frequent as they could be and very crowded. Potential guests should be aware that there is nothing in the vicinity - we ended up eating and drinking in the hotel bar. The extra large rooms are not all that big and only the suites have a glass walled bathroom.

+ Nice and friendly people behind the desk at the reception, good breakfast and (safe) parking. My compliments. Small things make a difference; day one I used the shoeshine, day two there was new shoeshine. These are the little things that make my trip without any worries. Rooms were trendy and clean. The bar is excellent. Very good cocktail card and also here people who now what they are doing. Next time when I will have to visit Amsterdam for business this will be the place to stay for the night! Thanks.

- The waiters at the breakfast don't know their etiquette very well(The service in the restaurant during diner was very good).

+ Having stayed in alot of hotels around Europe I found this hotel great. I had read some reveiews before hand but my partner n I enjoyed our short stay. The size of the room was great as well as the cleanliness a problem i've encountered in many hotels around Europe. Many thanks to the friendly staff as well.

- we had a smoking room and although there was air conditioning it would have been better to have a window to open. Breakfast was not very good, cold food and quite expensive

+ The rooms were great value for the price. location was good if you want to stay just outside all the madness. The hotel Lobby was gorgeous with a few funky chairs to chill in if ya like. I would definatly go bach here again and reccommend it for all age groups teens or older people and very romantic for couples!!

- The food wasn't the best at all.You have to be carefull with the mini bar. They charge for every item moved out of the fridge. The reason I say this is that it's over priced. Yor better off going to the garage accross the road and stocking up on munchies.

+ Glass bathroom walls. Made whole thing look really stylish. Bed Kingsized and comfortable. Staff friendly and informed. Bus stops to town outside so made the out-of-town location easy to get to.

- The view of the train tracks was nice, but as we weren't there during the day,it didn't bother me. Also beware the heating/aircon. Even with both turned off, sounded like bad air in the pipes with a horrible whistle on the last night. Much more and I'd have said something. However, don't let just that put you off the hotel. We enjoyed it and would/will go back (just to a different room)

+ Very Clean. Excellent Bar.

- 4 star bedroom was awful,almost like a double camper bed in the room, very near to the floor, all the furniture squashed together. I would reccomend going for the (only slightly cheaper) 3 star room. Much better despite the myriad of stains on the floor and the leaky bath. I stayed in the summer and the room was much better that is why I returned, but I won't again.

- Air/con didnt work, room was like an oven, 3 requests made & nothing happened. we bought a fan! Hotel is 10 minutes out of the centre of Amsterdam. Pay T.V was very expensive compared to other hotels in & around Amsterdam.

+ There is a bus service that runs next to the hotel that is very easy to use and only takes 10 minutes to get you to Central station.

- The Hotel is a 10 minute drive to the centre of amsterdam, Taxis are rather cheap approx 15 - 20 Euros, but it can amount if doing the trip daily or twice daily.
