  • - Had to carry luggage up one floor on stairs. Bell boy noticed once we entered through the doors. - Concierge was not to be seen at certain times during the day

  • Compared to some of the other hotels we had recently stayed, I felt the Amarth did not compare well in terms of design comfort, lobby friendliness, and room lightness. On the other hand, staff, service, room size and cleanliness was very good.

Pure luxury.
  • + We booked a superior room and ended up with a suite. It was a fabulous surprise. So much space and a free mini bar. Very comfortable beds and a luxury bath. Also had a superior shower with many options. Our sitting room was an executive board room in its past life.

'Monumental Suit' Grand Amrath hotel
  • + very spacious, clean, friendly staff, great complimentary mini bar, restocked every day. good location. Alot of interesting history about the hotel. the bathroom was excellent the best we have stayed in.
  • A guy from concierge showed us the room before we chose and he didnt know the room contents like where the mini bar was, Also it was up to us to find it and to work out the controls of the air conditioning. Their wasnt a cosy couch either, just leather chairs in the living room. we stayed in the 'Monumental Suit'

Three Star luxury at best

  • Cracked and loose floor tiles in the bathroom and stained surfaces - was clean but did not feel it. At best 3 star quality. Curtains were supposed to be remote controlled - manual! Room location (Room 10) noisy and lighting dull. Floor -1 and felt underground. TV picture quality and sound quality very poor. Nowhere to put your clothes - drawer space - 1 small drawer, wardrobe half size and that is for 2 people.

Amazing Amrath
  • + Free mini bar and very comfortable beds. Seven seas restaurant has excellent quality food at good prices compared with dinner at other Amsterdam restaurants. Very helpfull staff.
  • A littlle more walking to town centre is required. Not much storage space for clothes in the otherwise excellent bedrooms.

OK BUT NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL.

  • Building is very old and not well modified for hotel use. Hallways are dark aand numerous. Rooms are stark with tile floors. Not at all romantic, even though we were upgraded to the "romantic" four poster bed room.

  • Every day we had a lot of problems with the hotel. When we arrive to the room we find a sock in the room; some days they don't clean the room completly, the refrigerator dosen't work for 2 days. In the bar they are very slow. The wardrobe is very, very very small. We paid a lot, for a 5 stars hotels and we don't expect had to lose every day 1 hour do reclamations an explications. I understand that they are a new hotel, but the staff had to be trained.

  • + We stayed at this hotel as it was the only hotel available for our stay of the 8th September.
  • Exceedingly expensive. Beds/ rooms not turned down in evening (Advised desk, who said "Well you must have put a sign out stating Do not disturb" No hooks/towel rails to hang towels to dry, if you had a shower, one had to put the towel on the floor!! Thought for 450 euros rooms was small, no view & dark and no breakfast included!!!! Curtains could not close properly with bedside table alongside due to smallness of room. Hotel needs to get to grips with taxi service, car tooks at least 15 minutes to arrive. Generally bad experience, would not stay again and would think twice about staying in any other group hotels.
