Warmoesstraat 20-22, Amsterdam Map 0.5 km (City centre, 3 min. from Central Station)

Score of 8 reviews: 7.3

Hotel Old Quarter is a cosy, characteristically Dutch hotel in the centre of Amsterdam. The Central Station is only a 5-minute walk away while a 10-minute walk will lead you to the Rembrandthuis, Madame Tussauds and an abundance of shops in the Kalverstraat. The multi-lingual staff will do their utmost to make your stay as pleasant as possible, allowing you to look back on your time in Amsterdam with fond memories. Whether you want to book a day trip, a canal cruise or hire bikes, the friendly staff will be happy to help.

The hotel offers you a choice between a Deluxe Room with an ensuite bathroom, a flatscreen TV and a great view of one of Amsterdam's oldest canals, or a basic, yet practical room with a shower and a toilet in the corridor. You can also opt for a multi-person room.

The hotel enjoys a unique, historic spot, doing justice to its name: Old Quarter. The first houses to be built in Amsterdam were built on the very site where the hotel is located. The Old Church on the Oudekerksplein is Amsterdam's oldest remaining building. Many buildings in the area have been renovated in recent years, the Hotel Old Quarter included.

Recommended
  • + The location. The cosy atmosphere. The friendly staff.
  • The triple room was very small and a bit dark, kind of in the middle of the house. And with bath and toilet in the hallway, I think it was a bit expensive (110 euro a night for 2 adults and a child) Still I recommend it for the above plusses.

Private triple
  • + location to coffeshops and redlight ideal ok to smoke so this was a plus
  • not the biggest room and a bit unclean but for 1 night the metal beds were ok. Toilet really high felt like a little boy A Feet couldn t reach the ground. Would spend more than a night here

Cheap, basic, great location
  • + Location was excellent - 10 mins walk from central station and surrounded by many coffee shops, places to eat, bars etc
  • Room is very basic but if just using for a bed shower its perfect - your in Amsterdam no need to stay in bed all day - get out and explore.
  • * my tip No fridge in room so bring plenty of water to the room with you.

  • + Wonderful view of Damrak Canal at room 22 ! Spacious room for Amsterdam. Very much in heart of everything.
  • Late check in allowed at 15:30. Because the room were not cleaned yet. But this is acceptable after UEFA FINAL day.

Very Central, Clean, Good Breakfast, Beds Narrow & uncomfortable.
  • + Hotel in Very Central part of Amsterdam - 4 mins walk to the Railway & Bus Station, walking distance to all main Canals, Flower market, Dam Square, Ann Frank's House, even Leidsplein. Very Clean and Quiet rooms, Towels are replaced with clean ones every day. Has elevator and substantial Breakfast consists of omelette with bacon with toast and tea/coffee.
  • Bedrooms with 3 persons sharing are a little small- Single Beds are too narrow, worn and uncomfortable - For the price they charge, one expects to be served a Buffet Breakfast, with juice, fruit/yoghurt & cake, besides eggs and toast. But I geuss all Hotels in Amsterdam are very pricey !! For people who don't like smelling Marihuana smoke, then keep away because the Hotel street has many Coffee shops.
  • * my tip If renting a car when departing Amsterdam, to tour the rest of Holland, like we did, the Sixth Car Hire is right near the train station which is only 4 mins walk away from the Hotel -Very handy ! Do not hire a car to drive around in Amsterdam because it's crazy with the many trams, cars and hundreds of bicycles - Besides most places are within walking distance- if too far, it;s very easy to get a tram.

Attic room for a elderly guy!
  • + very central, minutes to rail station, bar staff friendly
  • Attic room , no 9 has V beams that you have to duck your head down. TV too high, above the door. no picture or descrpition of this attic room which is four flights high, on their website, Minus points esp for a elderly guy despite telling receptionist that I have a heart condition and this couldn't be helped. Everything in that block needs a lick of paint. Breakfast is not full english breakfast ( 5 euros extra) , they serve just fried bacon and eggs and toast

Great value. Friendly staff. Great location. Nice breakfast.
  • + Great value and location.
  • Not really. It was very good value so I wasn't expecting it to be 5 star. I was perfectly happy with the standard of the accommodation. The stairs were very steep and may not be suitable for people with difficulties using stairs.
  • * my tip I really enjoyed Artis Zoo but not the Heineken Experience.

  • + Very convenient location, staff were very friendly, breakfast was good. Some rooms have a great view of the canal (we should have picked one of those). Price was fairly cheap.
  • Location was too convenient, very noisy. In one of the rooms advertised as NOT having a view of the river, the room had a window leading on to the main street. The street was really noisy. This could be fine if you are planning to party hard, but not if you want to get some sleep before the bars and coffeeshops close. Our room was tatty - walll was falling apart, bathroom light didn't work. Staye in a canal view room a couple of years ago - was much better! Quite, great view, loved it
  • * my tip Go for one of the rooms that overlooks the river. Great view, much quieter!

MRS
  • + THE STAFF WERE EXCELLENT, VERY FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING AND THE FOOD WAS OF A GOOD STANDARD
  • ALTHOUGH WE WERE A MARRIED COUPLE WE WERE GIVEN A TWIN ROOM INSTEAD OF A DOUBLE! THIS WAS MOST UNSATISFACTORY AND ALSO VERY POOR COMPARED TO THE DOUBLE ROOMS THAT WERE SHOWN ON THE WEB
  • * my tip MAKE SURE ON BOOKING THAT YOU INSIST ON A DOUBLE ROOM, NOT TWIN

Good location is not enough
  • + excellent location, friendly staff, good food at restaurant (except breakfast)
  • room too small, too old, absence of elevator is challenging for visitors with heavy backpack/suitcase. very noisy if one stays in a room facing Warmostraat

Worth it!
  • + Fantastic Location, comfy bed, cheap bar and great breakfast. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
  • * my tip It's expensive, but very worth it. I saw two other hostels in Amsterdam, both were a little cheaper, but no where near as nice. This hostel ended up being our meeting place and pregame every night, the bartender was awesome and a ton of fun!

Great location, great bargain
  • + This hotel was a bargain! Right in the middle of the red light district, minutes to the station, 24 hour reception, late check out and breaky included! I couldnt believe my luck!!! The staff were friendly, laid back and helpful. The rooms were clean and basic.

  • (Travelling alone)
Good but not great
  • + Very close to Centraal Station, next door neighbor to Hunter's, which sell excellent bubblegum weed and awesome milkshakes. Nice bar with live music and usually smoking allowed on mondays.
  • Included breakfast was shit poor. Rooms were nasty, stunk of weed, dirty. Angry owner. I asked him if he knew if kratom was safe to drink with alcohol, he looked and me and yelled "Kraut? Kroot? Krautem? KROOTEM? This aint a goddamn smartshop" Expensive for what it is.

Hospitable and suitable city centre spot
  • + Position, price, hospitality
  • Comfort (mattress needs replacing), noisy (red light district)
8.2
  • (Travelling alone)
Very good for the price, apart from the TV remote deposit system.
  • + Friendly service, good breakfast
  • It is not fair to advertise the room as having a TV, and then to make a guest leave a deposit for the remote control. The TV was placed too high up to use the ordinary buttons. Perhaps the remote could be attached to the wall by a cord.

Cheap, clean & tidy. Pleasantly surprised.
  • + Cheap, clean & tidy. Excellent location. No complaints from me. Smoker friendly rooms, Coffeeshop right next door & red light district a 5 minute walk away. Perfect for the single traveller or group of guys.
  • Hotel could do with a facelift as looking dated. Other than that a good budget hotel in an excellent location.

good, central und busy environment
  • + near the train station a'dam centraal, near red light district, good hotel, clean, good location, friendly staff
  • very busy street all night long, no a/c so in summer your windows stay open and noise from the street wont let you sleep

Nice find
  • + - Great value. 50 euro for a single in near-high season, room simple but spotless, shared bathroom and shower but they were next door and perfectly clean. Big windows and smoking in the rooms allowed. Couldn't be more central. Highly recommended for laid-back travellers.
  • - Internet is only available in the common area (there's a nice pub and restaurant on the ground floor), while the hotel description says everywhere. No other negatives though.

Nice staff, good atmosphere, good location. Beds not so good
  • + A nice hotel, good atmosphere and great location. The staff was very nice
  • The beds were not good. It should be a fridge there, and a small table.

  • (Families with older children)
Excellent location & a good value!
  • + Great loction, just a very short walk from the central train station. While not spotless, the rooms are reasonably cleam. Good restaurant. Excellent breakfast included (choices are limited, but they will let you substitute cheese for bacon). Staff was friendly. Good value for the price. We were concerned that the hotel might be right in the Red Light District, but it is actually a couple of blocks outside of the RLD. Because of great location, friendly staff, breakfast, and price, I would consider staying here again on my next trip to Amsterdam.
  • Rooms are dated in appearance. Rooms vary in size, but our twin room was very small. Nothing separtates the toilet from the shower. The shower curtain covered the bathroom door and the toilet paper, but did not separate the shower from the nearby toilet. The arrangement looked funny, but it worked fine. You may smell marijuana smoke wafting throug the hallways, but after all, it is Amsterdam!

  • (Families with older children)
Not up to American standards of cleanliness and size.
  • + The location was perfect for the central station. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
  • Room and bath were not cleaned in the five days and the bed was not made just covered to look made. Shower was open so entire bathroom got wet.
