Hotel Old Quarter is a nice hotel in Amsterdam, only a 3-minute walk from the Central Station. The hotel offers a choice between a luxury room with private bathroom, cable TV and a wonderful view over one of the oldest canals of Amsterdam, or basic, functional rooms with a shower and toilet in the corridor. On request, a radio alarm clock and luggage rack available.
The hotel lies on a unique historical place and does credit to its name Old Quarter. At the place where the hotel is located, the first houses were built in Amsterdam. What the area looked like before can be seen in the Historical Museum. The Old Church on the Oudekerksplein is the oldest existing building in Amsterdam. In recent years, many houses in the neighbourhood were renovated and so was Hotel Old Quarter. The former police station in the Warmoestraat is where a fictional famous Dutch police inspector solved his crimes. Cafe Heffer has many attributes to this inspector.
Hotel Old Quarter is a cosy Dutch hotel. The multilingual staff will do everything to make your stay as smooth as possible so you can look back later at a great time in Amsterdam. Whether you would like to book a tour or a cruise through the canals or want to rent a bike, they will help you on your way.

Very Central, Clean, Good Breakfast, Beds Narrow & uncomfortable.
+
Hotel in Very Central part of Amsterdam - 4 mins walk to the Railway & Bus Station, walking distance to all main Canals, Flower market, Dam Square, Ann Frank's House, even Leidsplein. Very Clean and Quiet rooms, Towels are replaced with clean ones every day. Has elevator and substantial Breakfast consists of omelette with bacon with toast and tea/coffee.
–
Bedrooms with 3 persons sharing are a little small- Single Beds are too narrow, worn and uncomfortable - For the price they charge, one expects to be served a Buffet Breakfast, with juice, fruit/yoghurt & cake, besides eggs and toast. But I geuss all Hotels in Amsterdam are very pricey !! For people who don't like smelling Marihuana smoke, then keep away because the Hotel street has many Coffee shops.
*my tipIf renting a car when departing Amsterdam, to tour the rest of Holland, like we did, the Sixth Car Hire is right near the train station which is only 4 mins walk away from the Hotel -Very handy ! Do not hire a car to drive around in Amsterdam because it's crazy with the many trams, cars and hundreds of bicycles - Besides most places are within walking distance- if too far, it;s very easy to get a tram.

Attic room for a elderly guy!
+
very central, minutes to rail station, bar staff friendly
–
Attic room , no 9 has V beams that you have to duck your head down. TV too high, above the door. no picture or descrpition of this attic room which is four flights high, on their website, Minus points esp for a elderly guy despite telling receptionist that I have a heart condition and this couldn't be helped. Everything in that block needs a lick of paint. Breakfast is not full english breakfast ( 5 euros extra) , they serve just fried bacon and eggs and toast

Great value. Friendly staff. Great location. Nice breakfast.

Great value and location.
–
Not really. It was very good value so I wasn't expecting it to be 5 star. I was perfectly happy with the standard of the accommodation. The stairs were very steep and may not be suitable for people with difficulties using stairs.
*my tipI really enjoyed Artis Zoo but not the Heineken Experience.

Very convenient location, staff were very friendly, breakfast was good. Some rooms have a great view of the canal (we should have picked one of those). Price was fairly cheap.
–
Location was too convenient, very noisy. In one of the rooms advertised as NOT having a view of the river, the room had a window leading on to the main street. The street was really noisy. This could be fine if you are planning to party hard, but not if you want to get some sleep before the bars and coffeeshops close. Our room was tatty - walll was falling apart, bathroom light didn't work.
Staye in a canal view room a couple of years ago - was much better! Quite, great view, loved it
*my tipGo for one of the rooms that overlooks the river. Great view, much quieter!

ALTHOUGH WE WERE A MARRIED COUPLE WE WERE GIVEN A TWIN ROOM INSTEAD OF A DOUBLE! THIS WAS MOST UNSATISFACTORY AND ALSO VERY POOR COMPARED TO THE DOUBLE ROOMS THAT WERE SHOWN ON THE WEB
*my tipMAKE SURE ON BOOKING THAT YOU INSIST ON A DOUBLE ROOM, NOT TWIN

Fantastic Location, comfy bed, cheap bar and great breakfast. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
*my tipIt's expensive, but very worth it. I saw two other hostels in Amsterdam, both were a little cheaper, but no where near as nice. This hostel ended up being our meeting place and pregame every night, the bartender was awesome and a ton of fun!

Good but not great
+
Very close to Centraal Station, next door neighbor to Hunter's, which sell excellent bubblegum weed and awesome milkshakes. Nice bar with live music and usually smoking allowed on mondays.
–
Included breakfast was shit poor. Rooms were nasty, stunk of weed, dirty. Angry owner. I asked him if he knew if kratom was safe to drink with alcohol, he looked and me and yelled "Kraut? Kroot? Krautem? KROOTEM? This aint a goddamn smartshop"
Expensive for what it is.

The Quaint Old Quartet
+
The food in the bar is excellent, and the staff were professional and courtious.
Very good for the price, apart from the TV remote deposit system.
+
Friendly service, good breakfast
–
It is not fair to advertise the room as having a TV, and then to make a guest leave a deposit for the remote control. The TV was placed too high up to use the ordinary buttons. Perhaps the remote could be attached to the wall by a cord.
