Amsterdam Hotel The Crown

Very good accomadation central location and good value.

• + I had stayed at this hotel last year and the fact that I retuned within twelve months is the best recommendation I can think of.
• – The stairs are steep if you are not very active.Small point though.

• + Great location, cheap n basic but everything u need for a budget holiday B&B.
• – THE CLEANERS STOLE 50 EURO FROM MY BAG ON THE FIRST DAY . . . DONT LEAVE ANY MONEY IN YOUR ROOM OR BAGS OR IT WILL GO MISSING. NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT THE THEFT, staff only interested in dealing with the pretty girls.

Lousy service. Expensive. Good location

• + We are a curling team of 4 men from Canada. We pre-paid two rooms for two nights. Upon leaving two of our members were waiting in the reception area. The desk man said that they had to leave as the hotel was not open yet. It was 9:00 am!!! Not wanting to cvause any problems they went outside to wait. The deskman then threw a bottle of water and slammed the door. It was so bizarre we had to laugh but it also pissed us off. If you had a zero for service that is what this hotel would get. Do not st

• + Thought I wanted a room with a view. Got the roof top instead, but it was so much quieter and easier to finally go to sleep.
• * my tip Traveling alone, I was sort of nervous, but the guys that worked there were very cool. I like that you have to leave your key at the front desk each time you leave. Then I didn't have to worry about losing it.

Perfect location with simple style accomodation

• – Shared sanitary, payment during check-in
• * my tip If you don't require Hyatt comfort and you don't want to spend too much money and you are not afraid about shared sanitary it can be the right hotel for your stay in Amsterdam. Location is perfect.

Comfot hotel with a superior location

• + Location is excellent, only a couple of hundred of meters from central station Clean & warm rooms (remember to put heater on and keep window shut with a paper block). Considering this level of hotels, it could be horrible, but Crown was very comfortable
• – No sink at toilet, cannot wash my hands there rigt away
• * my tip Stairs are very narrow and steep. Definetly not for the elder people and people with reduced mobility. Toilet and a shower may be on other floor depending on your room.

Good RLD hotel

• + Location....short walk from central station , close to Sam square and perfect location in RLD can smoke weed or hash in bar at lobby which also has a big screen and pool table.
• – No elevator and steps are extremely steep, rooms are nothing more than beds with a sink in them, if all you are looking for is a place to crash for the night or a cheap stay in the RLD with a bar and smoke friendly lobby then this is the place for you

Poor value for money, but well situated

• + Very well situated, close from the central station and in the heart of RLD. Very good starting point for a visit to the city, friendly staff knowing the district and the city, and able to give good advice. Bar open late at night, no smoking in the rooms.
• – Extremely basic accomodation (which is OK if you don't expect more). For some reason, no water in the rooms in the morning, no safe (although the reservation said "private safe") Largely overpriced.

Very basic, but central and inexpensive

Interesting basic room - above - a pub experience !

• + I was surprised how basic it was but service was quite friendly ! It was basically a room above a pub with a friendly bar and bar man and a friendly cat !
• – The shared WC had no top on the lavatory and the flushing mechanism had a piece of rope / string instead of a metal flushing plunger ! It was alright for me as a traveller on his own but I think you should make it clear how basic [ though it is an interesting experience just as a place to sleep and is very central !] a " hotel " it is !

• – the room was not at all what was pictured on the web site. there was no wardrobe and private safe, the room was tiny, with a very small window, slanted ceilings made standing up possible in only half the room
