In the city centre lies the most popular gay hotel in Amsterdam: Gay Hotel The Golden Bear. The hotel is located in two historic buildings of 1737 and is situated at the Kerkstraat. In this street and the nearby Reguliersdwarsstraat there are several gay bars and clubs. Around the corner one can also find the 'Leidseplein', a square that is surrounded by entertainment venues, among which are the city theatre 'Stadsschouwburg' and a casino. The central location of the hotel is perfect to easily reach the numerous interesting museums and nice shops. One of the best shopping areas with an abundance of boutiqies is known as the '9 straatjes', which consists of nine streets that are situated between the canals Prinsengracht and Singel. There is a tram stop around the corner, which enables you to reach all the sights even quicker, although Amsterdam is easy to explore on foot.
