Hotel V Frederiksplein is established in four monumental 19th century buildings. The hotel is beautifully located in the centre of Amsterdam, on the edge of the Frederiksplein square and the trendy De Pijp area. As soon as guests enter the spacious hotel lobby they will be surprised by the design. The glass meeting room and the rubber reception desk will also catch the eye. In the lobby one can find a wooden bar/kitchen, where breakfast is served every morning.
After an active day guests can take a seat in the atmospheric lounge on the couch at the fireplace. While listening to the funky soul music one can order a drink or check some e-mails. On sunny days the garden at the hotel is a nice place to sit. The hotel rooms have a comfortable bathroom with a wall made of pebbles, a toilet and a powerful rain shower. Modern amenities such as a flatscreen television, telephone, free wireless Internet and a safe are also available in the room.

Good location and helpful staff.
+
We like the location. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is convenient for the museums and art galleries which was our main purpose. The tram from the station to the hotel is easy. There are good places to eat nearby. The breakfast is good for the amount we paid. We like the youthful ambiance although we are far from youthful ourselves!
–
The rooms(we have stayed twice) are quite small but we were hardly in the room so not really a problem.

disappointed!
+
great location for exploring, and staff very frindly and helpful
–
although room was sold as double, it was very small even for one person. could improve on soft furnishings ie pillows, curtains. room was in basement, vwry dark and dingy, if you open a window you have other guests smoking directly outside( very ucomfortable especially for a non smoker). could hear noise all night from above ie people walking around, furniture etc. also i would have preferred a choice of breakfast, not just a cold buffet; does not cater for other people.

Lovely hotel, friendly, helpful staff and transport great
+
Clean hotel, close to amenities, great for transport if you don't want to walk to the city centre which is about a 20-25minute on foot. The staff we're great and very helpful. The complementary hot drinks was an added bonus, breakfast was not too bad though not hot except for the drinks.
The only downside you couldn't swing a cat in the bathroom and there are no shower curtains when you have a shower which leaves the floor wet.
We had a basement room, and would have prefered that the decor was a lot lighter which may have given a sense of more light.
Overall it was a nice hotel, would recommend and use once again whenever we're back in Amsterdam.

Dark decor in the basement

Modern hotel with a great atmosphere!
+
Amazing breakfast, cool design, friendly staff, our room was incredible, big enough, with a balcony, clean, complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate throughout the day, free wi-fi, a walking distance from all the attractions.
–
Hardly any, maybe the elevator is quite small, we had the room facing the street so could hear the trams regularly, but that's not really hotel's fault. Also, mosquitoes :) But again, hardly the hotel's fault!

good compromise for a short stay
+
1) very friendly and sympathic service team
2) good starting point for exploring the city by feet or tram
3) very good quality of breakfast
4) very good beds
–
1) design is only "on the surface" (wall papers? - not functional - only nice to look at)
2) "design mirror" in bathroom hangs much too high for little persons resp. mirror in sleeping room is too small
3) "design light" in bathroom is poor
4) a little loud

The size of the rooms are only suitable for dwalf's, ie people who are vertically challenged. We have never been to a hotel where it was impossible to hang clothes.jackets, and move about the room without falling over each other. I have 2x cuts to my head banging on the sharp metal shelf in the bathroom. We will not be returning!!!
