One of the best in Amsterdam

• + This was one of the best hotels in Amsterdam I have ever stayed in. Clean, quite and perfectly located.
• – I can't think of any.

Perfect location for a business trip that requires train travel

• + Excellent place if you have business that requires train travel; the hotel is literally on top of Amsterdam Centraal. I had successive meetins in Brussels and Amsterdam and it was extremely convenient to be able to go to my room within five minutes of existing the train, likewise you can sleep until the last possible minute if you have an early train out in the morning. Amsterdam Centraal is also, as the name suggests, smack in the middle of the city, so there are restaurants, etc. close by.
• – Depending on where you are in the hotel, there can be some noise from the train station, however, that noise stops almost completely around 10PM after which the hotel is pleasantly silent.

• + Great location for Central Station. Trams, buses, taxi's, canal tours, shops & restaurants all on your doorstep
• – some of the rooms were built over the train tracks so if you like your window open at night prepare yourself for the noisiest place EVER. Trains screeching past your room all day & night, not to mention the never ending public announcements!! Basic hotel room, nothing fancy.

Choose this hotel for budget and convenience. No more than that.

• + Location wise, this is a very good hotel. I chose it because it was just next to the central train station. Very convenient.
• – The minus point is the location! I had difficulty sleeping because my room (new tower, 5th floor) is exactly on top of the train station. Even at 2 am I could still hear the rumbling of the trains. At 4 am the activities began to pick up and so did the noise.

• – it was far too hot in the rooms (in early april) and we had to move at midnight from our 9th floor room (over top of the rail station so we couldn't open the window due to excessive noise) to the 5th floor (only slightly cooler but it was possible to open the window as it faced the very loud street which wasn't as loud as the trains). also the breakfast room was not very pleasant and jam packed with tours of people. extremely tiny room, it was nice they provided a baby cot but once it was in the room it needed to be nudged out of the way to open the bathroom door and of course the desk and window became unusable we loved amsterdam, we'll just stay somewhere else next time (maybe Chic and Basic)

Ibis Amsterdam Central is NOT good value for price.

• + Good location for city centre and transport links.
• – For the price we paid for our room the size and standard was very poor. 1, No tea, coffee in the room, no hairdrier, the bathroom was very small, bed very uncomfortable , total room size was more like a single. I would not stay there again based on price & value. The Victoria across the road where we have stayed at twice, is more or less the same price and a far better hotel with better facilities.

In general this hotel was basic and expensive but was very central

• + The hotel is very central and within walking distance of the majority of tourist transport and sights. It was also very clean and respectful to our room privacy.
• – The hotel rooms are very basic and small.For a couple spending 5 days away together a bit more luxury would have been nice. I found the service and price of the rooms quite expensive for what you were getting, apart from the central location.

• – I stayed for 2 nights. The first night I received the promised rate of 109 Euro's. The second night the rate was 144 Euro's and no one at the front desk could explain this difference. I had a train to catch so could not stop to argue.

The experience was tarnished by Check In at Hotel

• + Clean, good hygiene standards, comfortable rooms. Excellent location.
• – Very poor information provided regards to cost. Email printout had 960 Euro as the TOTAL. This was actual the sub total before city tax. Also a 50 euro deposit was required per room. This was un-expected and made me very uncomfortable as I had to hold up the check in process trying to raise an exra 300 euro from the travelling party. These costs should be included as you know of them.

Amsterdam Weekend

• – Extremely slow at check in. I booked 1 Triple and 1 Double rooms but was informed on checking in we would have to have 3 Double rooms because there were no triple rooms available. We were part of a party of 18 people, but although my booking was made 24 hours before the others (by a different person)triple rooms were available for them! When I brought this to the attention of the receptionist and asked why my booking was not being honoured, when I knew for a fact we had booked prior to the others, she could not explain but informed me there would be no change to the cost. The fact we had to pay a deposit of 50 euros per room (refundable) to make sure we did not smoke in our rooms I find insulting as we had requested no smoking rooms in the first place! One room had a cigarette burn along the surface of the bedside shelf, this was immediately pointed out and a written acceptance received whithout which I could just see us losing 50 euros after being blamed for it!

• + Right by the train station is great for me, a train traveler. Rooms in the new section are nicer than rroms in the old section. The outer side has great view of all the action along the shipping lane and train station.

Those kinds of work should be okay daytime but not 2 AM, when people are trying to get some rest. Anyway, your staff was helpful n nice, thanks!

Great location, easily accesible from the train station (heck, it was less than 50 meters away), get of your plane at Schiphol Airport, catch a train to Centraal Station Amsterdam, and voila! you're a few steps away from the hotel. And the front desk staffs... They were brilliant! Very professional, friendly and helpful. Escpecially one of the duty managers', name was Aswad if we're not wrong. In all, must say if it was really great value for money, for all the facilities, amenities, and great service you'd get. Can't wait to stay there when we next visit, especially once the new wing is ready..

schönes sylvester urlaub

• + top lage zum bahnhof und für eine erkundung der stadt. über sylvester war viel los aber auf dem zimmer war es angenehm ruhig. sehr freundliches personal. und schöne aussicht.
• – wir waren in der 5. etage und die klima anlage hat 1-2 tage gebraucht um das zimmer auf eine angenehme temperatur zu bringen. keine minibar.

Lage absolut Klasse, Rezeption brilliert durch Inkompetenz!

• + Hotel befindet sich in super Lage, gleich neben den Reichsmuseum. Besser kann es gar nicht sein.
• – Eine unfreundlicheren Empfang kann ich mir gar nicht vorstellen. Die Empfangsdame mit der roten Brille brilliert durch Inkompetenz und Unfreundlichkeit. Zwar kann man gratis ins Internet gehen, doch der Drucker ist nicht brauchbar und den beiden Damen an der Rezeption käme auch nicht im geringsten in den Sinn zu helfen. Das Zimmer war für unsere Bedürfnisse und Aufenthalt absolut geeignet, doch roch das Bad nach Schimmel ... Bin sonst ein eher zufriedener Mensch, aber der Empfang und das Personal sollte von der Geschäftsleitung zwingend überprüft werden.

• – Enorm onvriendelijke receptionist bij het uitchecken. Wat een onaardigde hork. Zo erg dat het enthousiasme van alle andere medewerkers naar de achtergrond verdween! Een man die het hotelvak niet waard is!

• – De lift moest ik met een pasje oproepen. Dat ging moeizaam. Het plein voor het hotel is een chaos van fietsen. Idee: overleg met de gemeente of dat anders kan.

Geurhinder in de kamer

• + Het onthaal was heel vriendelijk. De kamer was onmiddellijk beschikbaar bij aankomst om 10u30. Ik kreeg een tweepersoonskamer voor mij alleen. Ook het uitchecken ging zeer vlot.
• – De airco draaide dag en nacht en verstoorde mijn nachtrust. Door de roosters van de airco kwam constant een sigarettengeur naar binnen. Iemand had er zelfs al papier ingestopt tegen de stank. De badkamer was zeer klein en er was geen legplankje voorhanden.

• + Prachtige centrale ligging. Gemakkelijk te bereiken met openbaar vervoer. Netjes. Goed ontbijt en prettige ontvangst.
