Description

The ITC Hotel Amsterdam is a 'gay friendly' 2-star hotel in an 18th century building on the 'Prinsengracht', one of Amsterdam’s most famous canals. It is extremely centrally located and has a view of one of Amsterdam's most beautiful canals. Behind the characteristic gable of this stately canal house you will find rooms that each have their own unique atmosphere. Some of the rooms can be found in the 'Annex', which is located 15 metres away from the main building. The Prinsengracht lies in a picturesque and quiet area of the inner city. However, within walking distance you will find many of Amsterdam's characteristic restaurants, cafés, bars and marketplaces. The Rembrandtplein, a vibrant centre of Amsterdam's nightlife, is also a mere 5-minute walk away from the hotel.

The friendly, attentive, and multilingual hotel staff will do their utmost to assist you or provide you with information about the city, its public transportation, or its (gay and lesbian) nightlife. Guests can enjoy a free (wireless) internet service, and in the morning there is a breakfast buffet, which can be enjoyed even until the afternoon. All rooms are equipped with a telephone, cable and satellite television, and a personal safe. Some rooms may have a shared shower and toilet.

The hotel has a lounge that is open until midnight. With the Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein within walking distance, you will find yourself in the midst of Amsterdam's most important nightlife areas. Of course, the city's cultural and tourist attractions can also be reached easily from the Prinsengracht. So with the ITC Hotel as your starting point, you will have a versatile and unforgettable experience in Amsterdam.

Weekend visitor Cute, convenient and good value Amsterdam
8.0
+ Luckily, the hotel rook although really small was good in comparison to my first experience at the check in location.
- The reception and check in at the other building was really average. It was not so good for the image overall and I was very nervous about what my hotel was going to be like based on that.

9.4
+ the staff were very friendly and helpful, going out of their way, really!
- the water did not drain in my sink.
Anonymous Very basic hotel
4.6
+ Location is definitely a plus: Rembrandt Plein and city center are very close, rooms have view over canal.
- There are several cafes nearby and the windows are kind of not very sound proof, so late at night the noise from the street come to the rooms. Besides, you can hear everything what happens in the rooms nexdoor
Anonymous I will be back!
9.2
+ Very friendly and helpful staff.
- the bed had a lot of springs which poked us.
AG Very acceptable hotel w/ great location, high price tag.
7.4
+ Great location - 5 blocks from Rebrandt square but in a quieter neighborhood. Easy walk to metro stop at Rem Square, easy walk to Albert Cuyp Market, flower market, etc. Bakeries, restaurants, groceries nearby. Room was clean and simple, fresh towels daily. Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. Canal view from some rooms.
- Pricey for what you get, but that's Amsterdam for you. Room is small but has everything you need. Stairs are ridiculous (2nd flight is more like a ladder), but again, that's Amsterdam. Bathroom sink actually in the shower, not the greatest location. If this hotel cost 50% of what it did, I'd stay here every time.

+ cheap and central
- small with no window
Janos Korda Only if you are ready to give up all luxury, and comfort!

+ Central, helpful staff, quiet.
- The room was a bit small, and only one toilet and one shower in the building.
Anonymous OK budget hotel
7.0
+ Very friendly reception staff.
- Cleaning staff do not respect checkout times - my room was cleaned on the day I was leaving while I was out buying lunch to take to the airport with me and my packed bags were still in the room. They also locked the shared bathroom door 2 hours before checkout so I couldn't use it.
Anonymous Ok for the location
8.0
+ Great location.
- I got a room downstairs with only one small window, in the shower. A great incentive to go outside and sample the excellent neighborhood.
Michael Struik Central but more low end
6.4

Galimzhan Berdykulov Nice and Quite. Great location.

+ Good Location. I was walking all the time, everything is near by.
- Mosquitos!
Anonymous Surprisingly comfortable bed with the basics nicely covered
6.8
+ Reception lady was really helpful and nice. Bed was surprisingly comfortable.
- Obviously we paid a premium for the Queen's Birthday weekend so wasn't really value of money but on another day it might of been.
pj Small rooms but friendly staff, I would stay here again
8.8
+ very helpful staff; nice neighborhood, comfortable bed; nice TV, clean,
- small rooms, but expected for the price, very steep stairs, no breakfast included
Waleska Coreano Good location! Bad and Loud Hotel. Rude Front Desk Woman!
4.2
+ The front desk guy was very helpful and friendly and could speak more than 3 languages. He recommended the perfect places for us.
- The woman at the front desk was rude. She charge me for a night I didn't stay even though I told about it was a booking mistake and i let them know longer than 72 hours in advance. In the room there was a paper that says if you wish to leave earlier just left the front desk know before 48 hours but I still had to pay! She almost made me pay for breakfast too! Very unprofessional!
Ronald Macfarlane A pleasant place to stay
7.8
+ The staff were friendly and helpful.
- While overall quiet, walls from the halls and other rooms travel into the room. The housekeeping staff could give a bit more attention to details - there was no toilet paper in the room.

+ the far eastern receptionist was soo cooperative
- took Euro 20 from me as (insurance) to give me iron and dryer !!,, found it unproper
Florent Baudewyns Nice hotel !
7.2
+ Location - clean - nice staff
- No lift (narrow stairs) - room was in front of the street (noise during the night) - not a lot of choice for the breakfast
McClintic Charming location, crummy room.
4.8
+ They were able to accommodate us in the late morning so we could retire right away. The staff behind the desk was friendly and courteous but not always around to buzz us in at the entrance.
- Our room was across the street and down half a block and up very steep stairs. It was tiny, and spartan, with toilet on the hall and shower upstairs. More like a youth hostel than a hotel. Not worth the price, despite a very nice location.
Philippe Nahlik Good place and simple
7.4
+ 5 mins to walk to rembrand-place. Good position! We had a room for 3 ppl. Room was unexpected big.
- The toilet was really very small. The knees touched the wall.. (the girl is 170cm) Anyway, for a hotel in the middle of a town like Amsterdam. Good place! (At least our room)
Connie McGrath Clean, cheap comfortable, cosy, close to bars and restaurants, quiet
9.2
+ Cosy, comfortable and clean. Restaurants, cafe's and bars all within walking distance. Fresh towels delivered every morning.
- No airconditioning and with the room being quite small it got quite warm.
james weir Could be better
4.6
+ Good location
- Room was noisy due to noisey coming from roof T.V wasn,t tuned properly and despite promises to retune was not done during my stay
Not My First Time Great location, but I'd keep pay a little more to stay elsewhere!
4.0
+ Great location in the city centre. On a beautiful canal and steps from the tram stop. We have stayed at the hotel about 8 years ago.
- Even though this was not our first stay, unfortunatley it will be our last. The hotel is in desperate need of an update. The bedding is old and dated. The bed is in desperate need of replacement. The bathroom is so small that you cannot sit on the toilet and close the door. Room's ceiling was unfinished and you can hear everyone coming and going. No Sunday service or checkout. This hotel has so much more potential. It was sad to see it falling in disrepair.
William Piternella Well located budget hotel with with an attentive touch for the guest.
8.6
+ The personnel is very kind, very polite and helpful.
- None.
Ondrej Horvath
6.0

René Ceulen Good value for money at fine location
7.4
+ close to my beloved canal - walking distance from all you'd want to see. Favourable check-out time
- WiFi does not work well - stairs are steep for elderly (but then, that comes with the building in the area)

- chambre peux etre assez petit et les meubles sont pas tres neufs mais pour le prix ça va
john peters A great time was had by all.

+ we all had a fantastic time in amsterdam despite the result at the football.one reason for that was the service and amenities at your hotel.thank you,if ever return to amsterdam we'l be sure to book with you again.again thanks jp
- none
jessica agyin Great location, Friendly staff but Bad View.
8.2
+ was close to the ares we wanted to visit like the Red light district and Anne Franks House. We could just walk everywhere!
- Was a bit surprised to see we had a double bed and not 2 singles but that wasnt the end of the world. We could have had a better view, our room overlook a rooftop terrace area. And we couldnt see any part of amsterdam from it.
Anonymous Good value for money
7.6
+ Overall very good value for money: very reasonably priced, good location, clean, provided luxuries such as soap and body lotion, towels, tea and coffee making facilities and a TV.
- The bathroom smelt bad and one of the beds was broken.
Kathy
6.2
+ Low cost hotel with a comfy bed.
- We were given a room in the Townhouse hotel tather than the IBC. The bathroom light wasn't working and the hotwl was generally in need of modernisation (broken bannisters, old carpets etc).
David Taylor Highly recommended - look forward to my return.
9.2
+ Staff very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this Hotel
Maria Lavrinenko It was ok
8.4
+ Very friendly personnel, especially the lady at the reception who welcomed us
- Room cleaning
XXX It was my sweet, down-low home in Amsterdam...
9.4
+ It's not pretentious here - it was perfect for Amsterdam.
jane havet Loved the place
9.0
+ the staff was excellent, helpful, printed directions, i had needed another day, which by my error was not booked, and was moved to another room, next time I will take train from airport to central station, then get tram four to rembrantplien, stop at three sisters resturant, walk straight out door and three blocks later on right is ITC, would have saved the taxi fare, any problems I had were of my own devise, great place great people, I will most certainly stay again, everyone cared if my stay was pleasent.
Joe Good bargain.
7.8
+ Great! We even got an en-suite room with a Hot Deal package... Would stay there again.
- Location isn't great...
Piternella, William Richard A modest but remarkable hotel with attention for the guest
8.2
+ Wifi connection alarm clock service security
- not changing plastic cup on a regular base
Anonymous Let down by problem with street noise.
7.0
+ Easy to get to location at Prinsengracht (near Utrecht St) Served by No4 tram runs from East stop st Central station to Prinsengracht stop. A few minutes by tram from city centre. Free WiFi
- Can be very noisy at night with the main problem being the nearby bar (has got much worse since all the smokers were driven out onto the street !) Some maintenance issues (broken window handle. Many TV channels missing/not tuned in properly, Radio not working, Radiator coming away from wall) but the main problem was noise (mainly from outside) at least in the rooms facing onto the street.
Elisabet Very good location, reasonable price
6.8
+ quiet, in front of tram 4!!!
- very bad bed, poor breakfast but enough
Greig Gribble ITC HOTEL AMSTERDAM
6.4
+ Very nice attentive staff, we had a horrible below ground room and they changed us to the top floor right away. The location is perfect, much enjoyed.
- For the price, it felt dingey.. The breakfast was 7 Euro 50 for toast hard boiled eggs and cereal.
Louise McCafferty Great value for money
8.2
+ Good location, away from main central area but close enough to walk anywhere in town and some rooms are overlooking a canal. One of few hotels I could find that still allow smoking. Safe in room, unusual for a 2* hotel.
- Asked for a room overlooking the street but as there is no A/C the window had to be open and it was very noisy with trams. Have to book breakfast the day before you want it and we were not informed of this.

4.0
+ When I asked for an other room they helped me at once.
- First I got a terrible room deep in the cellar at the other side of the street. I felt a bit insecure.
Roland Two rooms in four days. Not great.
5.8
+ The people working there were very pleasant and helpful.
- When we arrived they said we had a room for two nights and then another room for the other two nights. The first room was in the annex and on the 3rd floor so difficult for me. I'm 70. But of course I should have requested a lower floor room at the start. But changing rooms was a bit unnesessary and not a good thing.
Gordon Tytler Breakfast was rubbish
7.2
+ The room preserved the character of the building.
- Breakfast was rubbish.
