5 minutes walk into the city
  • + Location is superb, it s a reasonably quiet area. The continental breakfast was lovely and fresh. The room was very clean. Staff and management were very pleasant and communicative.
  • The room was extremely cold when I arrived late, with one window fully open (very large windows) and the other partially open). The radiator had been turned off, I had a very cold night and could not get warm. It was after reading the helpful book the following morning, that I realised this is regular practise at this hotel. I found the room and bathroom very clean, but found 3 very large black male body hairs under my pillow, although all the bedding was clean. The cleaners were loud, they talked to each other very loudly (almost shouting) and really banged around the furniture.
  • * my tip Pay for your room by cash as 4 fee is added, if you pay by any form of card. Make sure your windows are closed and your radiator is turned on, if it s cold. Lift only goes to 3rd 4th floor and the stairs are extremely steep (as are all stairs in Amsterdam) Tasty varied continental breakfast. Trams buses within 5 mins walk. A lot to do within 15 mins walk

Great hotel, will visit again
  • + Great location, very clean rooms, and pleasant staff.
  • Since it s an typical older Amsterdam building, the walls are pretty thin, so you ll head pretty much every step and voice outside your room (we didn t mind that).
  • * my tip The stairs are also typical old Amsterdam style, so you might consider using the elevator. 10 mins walking from city center, so if you don t mind walking a bit, you probably won t have to use the public transport at all.
  • (Young couples)
Romantic break
  • + We got upgraded to a small apartment for the same price as a room. Lovely for our first break away as a couple.
  • Funny smell from the drains.
  • * my tip Van Gogh museum is brilliant.
  • (Travelling alone)
very adapted to run the marathon
  • + localisation
  • (Travelling alone)
Never stayed in a hotel where I was spoken to like a child
  • + Bathroom in room
  • Everything else.
  • * my tip Don t stay in this hotel.
  • (Friends)
Very basic hotel, no frills but with a perfect location
  • + Hotel very clean, quiet, brilliant location, nice breakfast, basic but efficient.
  • The owner was a little abrupt, but this didn t bother us. The lift was just big enough for the two of us to fit in together. If using the stairs it was very steep, this is common in Amsterdam though.
  • * my tip Get the 197 bus if travelling from schipol airport, it drops you around the corner at the American hotel straight from the airport and only costs 5. No need for transport passes as everything is so accessible on foot. The hop on hop off boat tour is good. If you intend visiting the Anne frank house buy your tickets online months in advance as the queues are 5 hours long on the day For the best burger in Amsterdam visit Getto off Dam square, very reasonably priced and delicious
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + The room was kept very clean very nice cleaning staff always said hello, the location is absolutley fantastic for the museums, restuarants and vondelpark.
  • On arrival the gentleman on reception was very disinterested and a little rude. I must say this is only one staff member and the younger gentleman and ladies on reception were very pleasant. The cleaning staff deserve praise.
  • (Older couples)
nice hotel with funny interior decoration
  • + Excellent value for money. Good and quite location. Triple room booked, big enough for a double occupancy. Very funny interior decoration.
  • Two single beds not very comfortable. Too soft , not stable.
  • * my tip Very close to the lively Leidsplane.
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Breakfast, a lot of choice
  • stairs to the first floor and higher.
  • (Older couples)
  • + Plus points are location and the effort of the rest of the staff (except the owner of a hotel), price and the quality of bikes owned by the hotel
  • Very unpleasant and rude director of the hotel, and a horrible bed in the room 309.
  • * my tip Don t be surprised by the rude behaviour of the owner, and avoid the room 39 if you want to have a good night rest.
  • (Older couples)
Good location but lack of services and comfort
  • + Location Hygiene
  • Lounge or Living room Nonexistent Internet Wi-Fi only 10 AM - 10 PM Breakfast ends at 9.30 A.M.

  • + Room contains living room and separate bedroom.
  • stair rail was loose
  • * my tip Close by Vondelpark, Leidseplein

Nice Hotel
  • + Very well priced, clean and tidy hotel. Decent hotel. What is described on their website is what you will find.
  • None. Although check in felt a bit like passport control at an airport. Slightly strange, however that must be the Dutch way of welcoming you to their premises. No harm meant or done.
  • * my tip If arriving into Centraal Station. As you walk out and look north west, you will see the tram office. Buy yourselves a 1- 4 day pass on the tram depending on how long your visit is. 4 day was 21 euro.
  • (Travelling alone)
Excellent value
  • + Good location, extremely clean, good breakfast, and very welcoming staff.
  • (Older couples)
  • + It is a super hotel for the price. Great location, very auiet, fabulous to reach from schiphol with bus 197. Easy walk to everywhere, museums and dientown. Great bed, good mattress.decent shower, lovely decorations in room. Wifi that works though not super fast. Fabulous breakfast, and nothing else exisits in my lisy of requirements
  • Nothing really even got a bus Time schedule for 5 am return to schiphol.
  • (Travelling alone)
I would recommend this hotel for the budget and location
  • + Location. Good sufficient breakfast. Very good service at the reception.
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Chambre calme mais sans grand charme. Salle de bain impécable.
  • ns grand
  • (Travelling alone)
Good budget hotel
  • + Good continental breakfast
  • * my tip Close to museums and transport
  • (Friends)
  • + Very friendly and kind personal, hotel very clean and modern. Good location to take bus, tram.
  • nothing
  • * my tip good Italian restaurant in front of the Hotel and pretty cafè (with good food and music) a 1 minute far from the hotel
  • (Young couples)
A very enjoyable and well-situated hotel at a very good price
  • + The proximity of the Jupiter Hotel to Amsterdam s old city centre is amazing. It is on a quiet street that seems removed from the city, yet within 15 minutes walk you can get to most major attractions such as Museumsplein and Leidsesplein. The tram system, trains, and busses to Schipol are all very accessible. The breakfast and staff of the Jupiter are both very enjoyable, and they seem genuinely concerned with making sure you have a comfortable stay in Amsterdam.
  • The rooms were small and poorly ventilated, which makes for an extremely hot and stuffy sleep if you come in the summer months. The elevator is extremely small and could not hold more than two people with luggage. At later hours, the elevator may be unuseable due to other guests leaving the manual doors open on other floors. The stairs are extremely narrow and would not be safe for people with mobility issues.
  • * my tip Hit the bricks There is so much of Amsterdam that is accesible on foot from this hotel, as well as canal boats and peddle boat rentals within 5min walk from the Jupiter hotel.
  • (Travelling alone)
Great location, clean and very good value
  • + The room was charming and well appointed with a very clean, recently renovated bathroom. It was exceptional value for Amsterdam. The lady at the reception desk was helpful in pointing out an airport bus nearby (the 197) that goes to the airport for just 5 euros, as opposed to about 35 for a taxi. Breakfast was simple but good.
  • My room was up 2 flights of very steep, narrow stairs. Fortunately the manager carried my bag up for me but I had to carry it down. This would be very treacherous for older people or for anyone with a physical disability. Not much can be done about this as there is no lift and it is the norm for many smaller Amsterdam hotels, but you should be aware that this is the case if it is likely to be a problem
  • * my tip A bus to Schipol airport can be boarded outside the American Hotel, about a 5 min walk from the Jupiter.
  • (Travelling alone)
my stay at jupiter hotel march 2014
  • + great location peace and quiet area tasty breakfasts kind and helpful staff daily cleaninig change of towels
  • -- nothing --
  • (Travelling alone)
Bad-mannered management
  • + nothing
  • The rooms are quite small like cages. The bathroom has no door. The stairs are quite narrow and it is impossible to reach the 2nd floor with your heavy baggage. One can take only hand bag. The reception is not open all the time. The owner is quite ill mannered. When I complained his behavior, he straight forwardly asked to leave the hotel and look for the other one. I will not recommend this hotel.
  • (Older couples)
tres bon positionnement
  • + positionnement plein centre petit déjeuner copieux chambre coté jardin trés calme
  • la chambre ne correspondait pas à la description lors de l achat, mais suffisamment confortable pour 4 nuits.
  • * my tip RESTAURANT SINGEL 404

Excellent traditional hotel situated in heart of Amsterdam
  • + Extremely friendly, privately owned hotel. Excellent eclectic rooms within a traditional setting. Very clean and good quality breakfast. Will come back again.
  • None.
  • (Travelling alone)
Great stay, for a very economical price, wonderful breakfast!
  • + Very comfortable stay in quiet room with outstanding breakfast offerings. They offered a nice bathrobe in the room as well which was unexpected at this price. Easy access from the tram. Very pretty room with extra decorations.
  • Wifi very slow
  • (Travelling alone)
Lovely dutch holidays with Jupiter Hotel Amsterdam
  • + Wonderful hotel, everything is done with love and in good taste. My room was small but it was good enough for me as it was very convenient and comfortable. Good location, all variants to reach the hotel are easy available. You can choose any of them depending on your current mood and possibility. You can do it either by public transport or on foot, walking through the wonderful canals. The bed was so soft and nice that it was difficult to get up from it. It was a problem for me as my trip was
  • Coffee was not strong for me at breakfast but I found De Koffie Salon West 5 minutes from the hotel opening from 7 to 19 every day (Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat 82)
  • (Travelling alone)
Great location and friendly staff
  • + Location: 5-minute walk to Leidseplein Square. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was clean.
  • * my tip Hard Rock Cafe Amsterdam is located within walking distance.
  • (Friends)
Jupiter Hotel is a good value in Amsterdam
  • + Nice breakfast included, helpful staff, great location for museums, eating, getting to Central area, quieter street, very good value for Amsterdam
  • Steep stairs, shower a bit tricky to keep water from leaking out into the bathroom.
  • (Other)
Clean and beautiful
  • + A very beautiful little hotel with lots and lots of live orchids!
  • * my tip If you need glutenfree bread, bring your own!
  • (Travelling alone)
Great location - that's about it
  • + Location is perfect - it's central and very quiet
  • Phonic isolation with other rooms incredibly poor (2cm free space under the room door), I could almost hear my neighboor changing his mind. The "Welcome" from the tenant was one of the coldest in my life. Without a word he presented me the "rules" of the hotel. When I asked how to enter the hotel outside defined hours, he simply replied "first line", without any smile. I was almost ready to cancel my room at this moment. Quality of bed was poor as well.
  • * my tip The terrasse of the Hotel Americain closeby is excellent
  • (Friends)
  • + The breakfast was great and the stay was definitely worth every penny!! Everything is so close
  • It was a little difficult to get the bags up the traditional Dutch steps!
  • * my tip Don't buy a tram pass, this hotel is very close to everything!
  • (Other)
  • + very good location from the center and from the airport, the 197 bus takes you from the airport to nearby hotel for just 4 € Owners very friendly and correct
  • the elevator was not working the day we've been
  • * my tip nearby, on Leidseplein in satellitesportscafe restaurant food is good, plentiful and not expensive. All staff very friendly and fast the spare-ribs very good.
  • (Travelling alone)
good location, clean, quiet and good breakfast.
  • (Travelling alone)
Wonderful hotel!
  • + Clean hotel, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, orchids everywhere!:)
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Nice 3-day discount, very good location to explore Museumplein
  • Internet connection broke down every 5 minutes or so, not reliable for anything besides checking e-mail.
  • (Friends)
  • + Fine and clean hotel, i was in room whit 3 beds everything was fine and clean. Breakfast was good quality.perfect hotel for stay in Amsterdam
  • (Travelling alone)
Very good quality report to price. I will go there again next summer
  • + Location, breakfast, price, a very clean place
  • was quite cold in the room, but maybe I'm colder.
  • * my tip Visit Heineken Experience, Anne Frank House, walk in all Amsterdam. But don't do this thing in winter, because it is very cold. And watch out to bicycles because there are everywhere.
  • (Older couples)
Good value, but some room for improvement
  • + Clean, generally. Very good sized room for Americans... Quiet but very near centrum. Great windows, lotsmof light in room. This is uncharacteristic for Dutch hotels. Very secure. Modern design in room. Nice tv in rm.
  • Weak on breakfast, quality and selection were low. The manager needs a break (someone to cover for him so he can get some time off). His stress comes thru to the guests. Detail: our garbage was never emptied during our 6 night stay. Over sensitive to noise (management). Some low quality furniture (crazy useless part of coffee table). No true common areas. Hallway had cleaning supplies cart in it..
  • * my tip Excellent price for the money. Easy walk to Leidseplein and centrum locations.
  • (Travelling alone)
Great location great transport.
  • * my tip Brilliant transport from schiphol airport via bus 197, cheap fast and only 1 block to walk with luggage. By far the best way to transit into town for 4 euro.
  • (Young couples)
Jupiter Hotel Review
  • + Very good location, good breakfast with great coffee..
  • Receptionist/Owner was very cold, a little rude, the elevator was broken and we were on the 4th floor. very steep stairs..Hot water wasn't working and internet was slow.
  • * my tip Spend time with the cat.and Vondelpark is nearby. Beautiful
  • (Travelling alone)
  • Access to second floor hotel room by staircase only. Elevator only went to third or fourth floors. Otherwise, hotel was pleasant and convenient for museums and city centre.
  • (Other)
  • + It was very very clean and the breakfast was very good. The staff were do nice ANC friendly
  • For the price of room, it was very very small and the bed was very uncomfortable.
  • * my tip Ask for bigger room when you reserve it. And renovated room.
  • (Older couples)
A very nice reasonably priced hotel in a good location.
  • + A very nice hotel, reasonably priced (for Amsterdam), and in a good location. Breakfast and internet are included.
  • You will be charged 4% if you pay with a credit card. To avoid this charge, you must pay in cash.
  • (Travelling alone)
Lovely, quiet and conveniently located
  • + My small room was colorful, beautiful and sparklingly clean. Proprietor was very helpful. As a female traveling alone, I felt very safe here.
  • (Friends)
Rude service
  • + The room was very clean and nice.
  • The most rude, unfriendly and disrespectful front office we have ever met. They did not even try to make us feel welcome, rather the opposite. Very short, curt answers; unclear, almost hostile communication.
  • (Families with young children)
buena opción por precio y localización
  • (Young couples)
A pleasant stay
  • (Travelling alone)
excellent budget hotel
  • + quiet location not far from the Voldelpark and the Leidseplein area; separate entrance that gives guests maximum independence; good continental breakfast
  • my room (35) was very tiny
  • (Friends)
Nice little hotel in a pretty good location
  • + The hotel was very modern and well appointed. We even got a bathroom down the hall room to save some money and had no issues. It was also in a good location for actually getting sleep as it was very quiet, and still close enough to central Amsterdam to walk/tram in with ease. Easy walking distance to all the Leidseplein clubs/bars.
  • Not the friendliest staff. They seemed to not really want us there. If I had to guess, I'd say it was likely because we were 2 American guys and they assumed we would cause trouble. They were also extremely adamant about no pot/cigarette smoking in the hotel. It wasn't the rule that bothered me. I get that they don't want the smell or whatever. It was just the signs and the reminders everywhere. Hall, room, elevator, and they made you read a thing on it as well at check-in. A bit irritating.
