Reviews

The following independent reviews were entered by guests after their stay at the hotel.

Anonymous No-frills, convenient location and good value.
8.2
+ Nice staff, down-to-earth attitudes, one lady especially kind, good breakfast alternatives, phone at reception available for outgoing overseas calls, close to museums and restaurants, free wifi.
- Room servicing/cleaning seemed inconsistent over week of my stay, but I don't mind especially. Old rattly hardware on doors and external (but nearby) toilet increased noise potential from inconsiderate guests.
Anonymous If you have no choice, it's OK
4.0
+ Nice breakfast for this price category
- Not particularly clean (dirty floor in the room), poor sound isolation, high price for this value
valentina Good memories
8.8
+ Located on very quite street but it's easy to reach everything what can be interesting for a visitor by walking.
Scott Queen Hotel needs to pull their socks up!
3.8
+ Reasonably priced.
- Owner not very charismatic, very shrug of the shoulders when trying to make conversation, could have asked a few questions, what are you looking for with your trip to Amsterdam? Flyer for Ajax tour expired 31.12.2010,attention to detail poor, one tea bag in the tea pot!!
A Good badget hotel but not so praivate for a young girl alone.
4.4
+ Located on a quiet and safe street. Walking distance to the het national theatre and other attractive areas. Decent for the price.
- Typical narrow steep stairs no lift. Not so private. Felt uncomfortable with shared toilet. Breakfast was OK nothing specially fancy.
Phil Rogers Well located budget hotel in a quiet area
6.8
+ Close to museums. Staff helpful and discrete. Quiet area
Saskia van Vlijmen Large but dated room
5.8
+ The twin room was large, more like an apartment, without the kitchen, and felt more like Amsterdam living than Amsterdam hotel-ing. Beds were comfortable, and the privacy of a separate entrance to the hotel was good.
- Breakfast was very poor, and despite it being 8-12, by 11, most stuff had gone. Also note that when you book a room with private bathroom, it's not ensuite, but actually in the hall with a separately locked door. It was fine, but not everyones cup of tea. Room was dated and not properly cleaned.
Fiona Fuchs There are much better places for the money.
3.0
+ The morning guy was helpful and kind.
- If you book a "room with shower" - it means "room with shower" no toilet. It was very cold, I arrived at 11pm and the heating had been turned off. The bedding looks highly flammable and was VERY thin. The room looked dirty.
Anonymous Three nights at the kap in october

9.0
+ The hotel is located conveniently to the Heineken Brewery (5 minute walk or less) and is located near several convenient tram stops. The complimentary breakfast was very good as well!
- The stairs are very steep and narrow, but manageable
mary l Lovely hotel, nicely located.
9.6
+ Wonderful staff. Lovely quiet location. Loved the in room guide to the area. Great breakfast.
- The staircase, so typical of Amsterdam.
Monika, Vienna Excellent location within the city, steep stairs and small rooms.
8.0
+ Friendly staff, willing to wait for late arrivals; good and fresh breakfast; fresh linen every day; excellent location within Amsterdam; possibility to buy computer access and rent bikes; access round the clock.
- Rooms are serviced during times that guests would like to gain access sometimes; very thin walls - thus considerably acoustic; no cupboards in rooms; very steep stairs; rooms in 3rd floor more used up than those in 1st floor; slightly dirty carpets; tiny rooms.
Roxana Nice stay
9.0
+ the location, near the museums
- the stairs...but it seems that the stairs are like that in almost all the old houses in Amsterdam
Lonovenko Good for short staying (sightseeing)
7.2
+ Location and services are great
- Beds are old and not comfortable.
Heiko B. We would choose this hotel again
8.2
+ excellent location, helpful staff
- difficult to get luggage up the very narrow stairs.
Daniel Stokes A comfortable, quirky 2-star place to sleep.
7.8
+ A clean, friendly little inn for the price of a hostel. The location, very close to the Albert Cuypstraat market (worth visiting--also a good ethnic restaurant area) and the charming district known as De Pijp, is very quiet despite being very close to the center. The blocks just south of the hotel are well worth a stroll. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was good.
- Rooms are perfectly comfortable, but predictably small. Older travelers may find the very steep stairs difficult. I was also surprised that my private shower was not in the room! Still, a nice stay.
Beverly Richardson A welcoming staff enabled seniors to have a plesant stay.
9.2
+ The service was excellent. Any question we asked was answered immediately. The breakfast of eggs, homemade rolls, breads, juice, fruit, cereal was served from 8AM to 10:30AM. My family enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is near the center of the city. We walked to several museums and shops.
- They have very step stairs. I have to thank the hotel staff for bringing up our luggabe. That helped a great deal.

Rosy Smith Tiered but Friendly

+ Staff very good and welcoming. Dining area recently refurbished. In excellent location

9.4
+ Leuk hotelletje. Erg vriendelijke mensen. Heerlijk geslapen.Goede bedden. De kamer was gewoon goed schoon. Goed ontbijt.

Anonymous Preiswehrtes, ruhiges zentrumsnahes Hotel
5.6
+ Nahe am Zentrum. Ruhige Lage.
6.4
+ Ruhige Lage, gute Verkehrsanbindung. Freundlicher, hilfsbereiter Service. Gutes Frühstücksbuffet.
- Bad separat vom Zimmer (19).
Pascal Ribon For a good weekend in Amsterdam

- The stair is very hard. Not good for childrens or old persons.
