Anonymous Roach in the room (and not the good kind)
4.0
+ Good location near a nice part of town. Our room had a shower which was a bonus. Nice staff.
- Dead cockroach in the room (they say a cockroach can survive a nuclear war, so why the hell did our room kill it). Uncomfortable beds (tiny width and terrible mattresses). NO WIFI!!!!!
Anonymous I liked this hoStel
8.0
+ great location, very nice staff, good price....we were very satisfied with our staying in this hoStel, actually. I would recomend you to stay there when you look for some good price, location etc... it wasn´t bad at all...If i went to Amsterdam again sometimes,I wold choose this hoStel definetely.
- First time in my life, I saw blackbeetle! It appeared in our room and I was shocked! But we killed it and never saw it again!=D And one more negative point was the watter in the shower..it was just too cold or too hot...
Anonymous Good location, the staff were friendly, and the price was relatively ch
7.0
+ Good location and the staff were friendly. The price was relatively cheap as well.
- The stairs were very steep for lifting a large suitcase to the 4th floor. I had very noisy people next door that kept me up until 5 am on my last night, which significantly decreased my opinion of the hotel.
Anonymous Better off considering a youth hostel!
4.4
+ Not too bad if you have some form of travel or entertainment, quite close to a few areas of interest, coffee shop and bar accross the road.
- Arrived at 2pm, room supposed to be ready but wasn't ready till 4.30pm, Hotel seems to rent rooms down the street, as my room was in a building about 150 metres away from hotel reception, very steep steps to access so not advisable for anyone suffering with heights or virtigo!! Windows didn't open in the room, and they are just rooms with no frills, so compare prices before you consider it
Anonymous Hotel.NL were great. The hotel was much much less ;-(
4.2
+ It's next to Leidseplein. That's it.
- You'll get less for what you pay for..
Anonymous Ok for a few days if you don't stay in the hotel too much
6.6
+ Close of Leidesplain. 20 m to Tram 7-10 Good price.
- A bit dirty Beds, too soft or too hard.
Sid Got what we expected - overall a good deal !
8.2
+ 1. Excellent location - next to party area, not too close so that nights are quiet. 2. Value for money - this was the best deal we could find, and we were satisfied overall. 3. Helpful staff - the guy at the desk was nice and very helpful.
- 1. Very steep and narrow stairs (no elevators) - big bags beware! 2. Small rooms, very basic but clean 3. There was a mouse in our room one night - trying to get at the food in the trashcan! 3. Mixed up our reservation on first day (we booked with bathroom en suite, but they had a common bathroom room for us) - they fixed next day though.
Anonymous Cheap but you pay for what you get
5.0
+ Cheap
- Little bit dirty, but the room was fine
Daniel Aziz Great price, great location, great people.
8.2
+ Good location, right in the middle of Dam square and vondelpark only 10/15 min walk either way.
- No smoking but there is a coffeshop right out side.
Salomatov Dmitri
3.6
+ price
- old,not comfortable,without parking
Anonymous Cheap but dirty!
4.6
+ Cheap and fairly close to city centre.
- Room wasn't very clean, there was no running cold water in our room and although I didn't see any, there seemed to be the threat of mice all around the hotel. Also, the 250euro fine for smoking in rooms seemed excessive.
Jacques Breau Great location, dirty walls
5.6
+ good breakfast, good price, good location
- dirty, dirty, dirty, central heating was broken (they had a space heater for us), small
Anonymous Not much for your money, don't plan on spending time in the room.
4.2
+ Location is useful for trams and the area in general was nice. beds are comfortable, and the room was warm.
- rooms are not very sound proof, and can be noisy in the mornings, if people are checking out for early flights. Toilet paper in short supply in the shared bathroom. Window in the room didn't open. Would choose somewhere else next time.
BRIAN CONLON Cheap and maybe cheerful, keeps costs down
6.4
+ cheap, not too far from centre 15-20 slow walk, ideal for museum area and clubs like melkweg, paradiso etc,
- very cramped room with nowhere to put clothes ie: drawers, could have done with a lick of paint as graffiti on walls
GP GOOD VALUE for money
8.2
+ - Our 3 beds room was new, simple and clean. - Staff was just normal and smilly. - Very well located (walk: 4min to Leidesplein / 15min to Centre).
- - Dormitories looked very very basic (youth hostel might be better) - Don't rely on the "included" breakfast (in accordance with the cheap room price).

4.8
+ Close to Amsterdam city centre, cheap, breakfast good if you like toast and cereal
- Extra guest in our room of the type which eats cheese and has women standing on chairs screaming in early 1960s sitcoms. Had to share a bathroom with five or six rooms when we were told we would only have to share with one other room.
Sunil Negi Nice for cost conscious traveler.
7.8
+ Location is amazing
- Internet is not powerful to reach rooms. You have to be in the common area.
Lindsey Dennis Leibsplein Hotel, a good budget short break
5.0
+ Great view from the forth story window. There is a bus and tram stop directly outside hotel which is so convienient and really easy to use. Everything was clean. Super comfy beds.
- Very steep stairs (but to be honest everyhere in Amsterdam is)
Dawn Bowman Worst experience of my life
4.2
+ there isnt any plus points at all
- were do i start, they put us in another hotel opposite which was disgusting just 3 concrete walls and a make shift wall which you could see another rooms with bunk beds in it, no mirror or sink in room, a very very dim light which was hanging off the wall, a sign up about not leaving food because of the mice!! it was awful, we complained the next day and they moved us back into the marnix hotel where we should of been stayin anyway and gave us a basic bunkbed room but with a window, sink and mirror - i wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone unless you were living rough on the streets..
GEO KOM Amsterdam who cares about the room!!
4.2
+ the room was warm at the ideal temperature all day.
- the room was dirty. if you go there take your own sheets or your sleeping bag.we found combings at the sheets and no one change the sheets. the room was too small for 4 people but who cares?if you go there check your room before you pay because maybe they will give you different room from booking.. the hotel is NOT SMOKERS FRIENDLY. personaly i will not go there again..
Barnabas Szilagyi Hostel feeling...
4.8
+ Good location.
- Small, dirty rooms:-)
Jonathan Quinn Best budget hotel and amsterdam ?

- lots of stairs but so what...no big deal
Anonymous Don't go to Marnix

+ no plus points!!!!!!!!!!!!! - when we arrived our room was given to another person! they gave us a cellar rooms in another building. after 2 nights of horror we aborted our stay in amsterdam. - very noisy!!! did you ever try to sleep only 3m from the tram??? - personally this was the most disappointing booking ever made in my long live as a traveller!

8.2
+ Very good location. Good breakfast though choice limited to toasties or toast!
- Noisy street - needed earplugs! The shower did not drain very well so was standing in water all the time. Shower light was also very dark - maybe on purpose.
Elena B. Generally, a cheap and satisfying option..
7.2
+ friendly personnel, excellent location
- very small and uncomfortable rooms, we had to wait for a long time to find a free room no matter the reservation
Akil Simple hotel and relatively decent price
5.6
+ - Good location, not too far from anything - You get what you pay for - Clean, simple room
- - Breakfast was sub par (sandwiches and juice) - Bathroom floor was wet the whole stay b/c water didn't stay in shower - No turndown service during stay

+ location is nice, just in city center!
- Hotel is horrible, and honestly Marnix is not a Hotel.....it is kind of marquee, just horrible the staff are all chinese....

7.4
+ Location is excellent for that money. Its within walking distance of every important sight in town. I would recommend the hotel for everyone who wants to see best of Amsterdam, and use the hotel to spend a night in and have some breakfast in the morning. Also, there is free internet, and that's cool too.
- No soap and shampoo in both of the rooms me and my friends stayed. The hotel could also use some redecorating, but I guess the price wouldn't be the same, so its fine like this :)

6.2
+ Trippy carpets, very quiet, good safes.
- breakfast hours are too short.

4.6
+ The location is perfect only a 2 minute walk from Leidse Plein. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Very poor hygiene, yellow staind shower curtain next to the toilet, need to have shoes on because of the messy floors. We had a 4 person room and all of us got aking backs after 3 nights in the rock hard beds.

+ Excellent location, friendly staff, very clean bedding
- We booked a room with toilet en suite, did not have one for the first night and then had to move rooms, the second room was very good.

+ Rooms were very clean, service very good. Location excellent.
- A lot of traffic on main road outside the hostel. This was very noisy at night. PLus our window didnt shut properly which made it worse.

+ - clean rooms - nice breakfast - clean toilet/shower - good location - coffeshop in front of the hotel :-)
- - no elevator - poor lights in the rooms

4.8
+ The location and price is great.
- we had asked for a room with two beds. Got one with three beds with barely enough room to move. Decided to flip the extra bed up against the wall, only to discover a very dirty carpeting with cigarette butts and trash under this bed. It's nice to have a closet to hang clothes, but when no hangers are provided, very difficult. As the Hotel was fully booked, had to wait in line for availability of a breakfast table. As we were two, we we're even allowed to have two keys to the room.

6.4
+ service was friendly everything was clean no real problems - we had a nice time!
- breakfastroom was to small hotel - or rather hostel?
Bruchez Janick

+ AUCUN!!!!!!

+ was given a refund for change of room beds very comfy
- Not being given the room we had booked
Nina Doherty
6.8
+ very comfortable beds. great location.

+ ?
- The room does not correspond at all with the description "Room description: The 6 person room contains a shower and toilet. Room with 6 single beds." : No shower in the room. It was a 2 persons room with 4 additional beds. The safety instruction in the room indicated 2 persons maximum.
Anonymous

+ Location was very good.
- I booked a 6 persons room for me and my friends to stay only one night. When we arrived to the hotel, the room was much more small than expected. The shower and the wc was outside and shared with another 4 rooms. In the door of the room there was an evacuation plan in case of fire. It was clearly indicated there that the room was for maximun three persons, but we were six. Of course I've yield into the reception, but they said that may was a "language" problem, because the owner of the hotel, who made the web page didn't speak english very well...very stupid explanation.
Edgar Vargas Martinez

+ - Location - Oriental girl, she is beautiful :)
- - very small rooms - dirty shower - broken windows
Pierre Molho
6.2
+ Price and location
- The room was very small, and a small bed had been added , against the heater and the window, with almost no room left.
kevin o sullivan
2.6
+ It wasn't raining inside the hotel other than that no plus points at all.
- Upon arrival we had booked a room for 4 adults and we had the confirmation e-mail proving this but we were told that they only had a room for 3. The staff would not help us to find other accommodation and were talking to each other in Chinese for an hour while we had to stand at reception and try to guess what was going on with our booking in the end we had to take the room for 2 and 2 of our friends managed to get into another hotel also the room was only just big enough for me and my companion but was supposed to be a triple room. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone ever as I have stayed in many hotels around the world and this one is abysmal for service and reliability and also customer relations
