• – When I got there, the TV in my room did not wor. Then they gave a room with broken heat and last the gave a closet room that was not even ready. By then I hd to go the airpot. Expent most of my day in Amsterda, changing rooms and wating for them

Roach in the room (and not the good kind)

• + Good location near a nice part of town. Our room had a shower which was a bonus. Nice staff.
• – Dead cockroach in the room (they say a cockroach can survive a nuclear war, so why the hell did our room kill it). Uncomfortable beds (tiny width and terrible mattresses). NO WIFI!!!!!
• * my tip Use the WIFI at the Starbucks (also accessible from the opposite McDonalds). Backstage Hotel across the road looked nicer.

I liked this hoStel

• + great location,very nice staff,good price....we were very satisfied with our staying in this hoStel,actually. I would recomend you to stay there when you look for some good price,location etc... it wasn't bad at all...If i went to Amsterdam again sometimes,I wold choose this hoStel definetely.
• – First time in my life, I saw blackbeetle! It appeared in our room and I was shocked! But we killed it and never saw it again!=D And one more negative point was the watter in the shower..it was just too cold or too hot...

Good location,the staff were friendly, and the price was relatively ch

• + Good location and the staff were friendly. The price was relatively cheap as well.
• – The stairs were very steep for lifting a large suitcase to the 4th floor. I had very noisy people next door that kept me up until 5 am on my last night, which significantly decreased my opinion of the hotel.

Better off considering a youth hostel!

• + Not too bad if you have some form of travel or entertainment, quite close to a few areas of interest, coffee shop and bar accross the road.
• – Arrived at 2pm, room supposed to be ready but wasn't ready till 4.30pm, Hotel seems to rent rooms down the street, as my room was in a building about 150 metres away from hotel reception, very steep steps to access so not advisable for anyone suffering with heights or virtigo!! Windows didn't open in the room, and they are just rooms with no frills, so compare prices before you consider it

Hotel.NL were great. The hotel was much much less ;-(

Ok for a few days if you don't stay in the hotel too much

Got what we expected - overall a good deal !

• + 1. Excellent location - next to party area, not too close so that nights are quiet. 2. Value for money - this was the best deal we could find, and we were satisfied overall. 3. Helpful staff - the guy at the desk was nice and very helpful.
• – 1. Very steep and narrow stairs (no elevators) - big bags beware! 2. Small rooms, very basic but clean 3. There was a mouse in our room one night - trying to get at the food in the trashcan! 3. Mixed up our reservation on first day (we booked with bathroom en suite, but they had a common bathroom room for us) - they fixed next day though.

Cheap but dirty!

• + Cheap and fairly close to city centre.
• – Room wasn't very clean, there was no running cold water in our room and although I didn't see any, there seemed to be the threat of mice all around the hotel. Also, the 250euro fine for smoking in rooms seemed excessive.

• – dirty, dirty, dirty, central heating was broken (they had a space heater for us), small

not much for your money, don't plan on spending time in the room.

• + Location is useful for trams and the area in general was nice. beds are comfortable, and the room was warm.
• – rooms are not very sound proof, and can be noisy in the mornings, if people are checking out for early flights. Toilet paper in short supply in the shared bathroom. Window in the room didn't open. Would choose somewhere else next time.

cheap and maybe cheerful,keeps costs down

• + cheap,not too far from centre 15-20 slow walk,ideal for museum area and clubs like melkweg,paradiso etc,
• – very cramped room with nowhere to put clothes ie: drawers,could have done with a lick of paint as graffiti on walls

GOOD VALUE for money

• + - Our 3 beds room was new, simple and clean. - Staff was just normal and smilly. - Very well located (walk: 4min to Leidesplein / 15min to Centre).
• – - Dormitories looked very very basic (youth hostel might be better) - Don't rely on the "included" breakfast (in accordance with the cheap room price).

Mouse in room

• + Close to Amsterdam city centre, cheap, breakfast good if you like toast and cereal
• – Extra guest in our room of the type which eats cheese and has women standing on chairs screaming in early 1960s sitcoms. Had to share a bathroom with five or six rooms when we were told we would only have to share with one other room.

Nice for cost conscious traveler.

• – Internet is not powerful to reach rooms. You have to be in the common area.

Leibsplein Hotel, a good budget short break

• + Great view from the forth story window. There is a bus and tram stop directly outside hotel which is so convienient and really easy to use. Everything was clean. Super comfy beds.
• – Very steep stairs (but to be honest everyhere in Amsterdam is)

Many people are complaining but overall picture is pretty good!

worst experience of my life

• + there isnt any plus points at all
• – were do i start, they put us in another hotel opposite which was disgusting just 3 concrete walls and a make shift wall which you could see another rooms with bunk beds in it, no mirror or sink in room, a very very dim light which was hanging off the wall, a sign up about not leaving food because of the mice!! it was awful, we complained the next day and they moved us back into the marnix hotel where we should of been stayin anyway and gave us a basic bunkbed room but with a window, sink and mirror - i wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone unless you were living rough on the streets..
