A romantic City hotel in wonderfull Amsterdam

• + Very kind service-personal, beautyfull Lounge at the entrance

• + The location is excellent and the staff were extremelly helpful.
• – Even with special discount and upgrade the room seemed a bit overpriced. The size of the room is very small. The safe box was not working. We found some litter and dust behind the desks and the standard of higiene in the shower and toilets was very low.

• + Very good location in a quiet and posh area. Very friendly staff and clean room with good facilities.
• – Renovation was in progress when we stayed. Was quiet over the weekend, but we were woken up on Monday morning with the sound of the construction crew taking off the scaffolding.

Pleasant stay in Amsterdam

• + This hotel is well located, a nice area not far from museum area and other attactions. Good places to eat within a short walk of hotel. Residential area with nice cafes and shops frequented by locals, quite an affluent area !
• – Building work in progress during our stay. We were woken at 7.30 by hammering outside. No bar or gym facilities either. We made a complaint and by way of compensation were upgraded to junior suites on next floor which certainly improved matters ! Breadfast rather pricey at twenty euros each

Well-located hotel; check that renovation over

• + The management of the Memphis is extremely helpful with recommendations and offers of help around the city. the hotel is easy 5 minute walk to the Van Gogh and Rijks museums as well as the concert hall and chic shopping street. It is directly on the tram line.
• – The hotel was undergoing renovation. While the room was fine, the fire alarm (set off by hot shower?) was disturbing early evening and the construction was visible. Once that is finished in a month or two, they say, it should improve. Suggest the bagel place (2 blocks up and left) near the concernt hall for breakfast rather than the rather expensive hotel continental breakfast.

Quiet hotel for reasonable price - not so luxurious

• – staff is "cold"

• – poor selection in 'restaurant'... also over charged by waiter... probably an honest mistake though

• + Beautiful accomodations!
• – The hotel was a little farther out than we would have preferred.

• + Staff were very helpful in relocating us to a room that 'was not as bad' in smelling of paint. Very good value Breakfast.
• – Air conditioning was not working Rooms had just been repainted and they had not used a low odour paint

• + Really quiet place, calm and relaxing. Tram stop to Central Station close by. Only 10 minutes by feet from the museums.
• – A bit far from the city center, canals and animation. Necessity to use the tram or bus to come back late after a tiring day.

• + front desk staff ok; very clean rooms. Nice bar & finger foods.
• – fire alarms too sensitive -- especially in smoking rooms. breakfast not too good (staff miserable & food not too exciting).

• + Staff generally very helpful and friendly, location good, and excellent value for money
• – Bath/shower arrangement could be improved - but this is a very minor whinge

• + good location for our purpose (Concertgebouw).
• – unbelievable small room, not for two people. When entering the hotel we had to wait 10-15 minutes at reception desk due to the phone call (private?) the girl was making in the back room. No excuse when she showed up finally.Most unpersonal welcome in every respect.

• – The room next to us was being decorated. The work started in the morning around 8:30. The big noise was very annoying.

• + Large double room for Amsterdam. Clean. Easy access in city by tram no.16. Quiet area.
• – None.

• + Excellent location, very confortable and very polite staff.
• – The single negative point I can mention is that I tried to use the Internet at the business center and there were virus in the computer, that tried to infect my pen drive!!! Fortunately my antivirus avoided the risk. With some simple procedures the hotel can avoid or reduce this problem.

• – Alarm call via telephone was made at 0530hrs and 0545hrs. I had not asked for one and this ruined my night's sleep.

• + The room was very stylish .A fair size comfortable.It offered Great facilities. Staff were friendly.The hotel bar, resturant facilities were pleasant and inviting. I shall definitely return.
• – When i arrived at around 12.30pm .I had to wait till 2.00pm for the room to be ready.I realise this is usual practice, but would prefer my room to be ready on arrival, as most guests would, After travelling.It seems a bit unfair to make people wait 1.5 hours, especially when you want to freshen up.Better systems could be put in place to reduce waiting times, at least giving priority to new guests.
