Mercure Amsterdam aan de Amstel lies on the southern outskirts of Amsterdam near the ring road A10. The RAI Conference and Exhibition Centre, Schiphol Airport, the WTC and the city centre are easy to reach by car or subway. The luxurious hotel Mercure Amsterdam aan de Amstel is easy to reach from the A10 ring road of Amsterdam and from the A2 highway. When you are travelling by subway you get off at the 'Overamstel' stop and the end stop of tram 25 is also nearby. The hotel has secured parking facilities as well. Vooral de ligging is een pluspunt:buiten de stad en toch vlot bereikbaar met het openbaar vervoer,ook de nabijheid van de Amstel en de groene omgeving zijn een niet te versmaden surplus na een dagje stappen in Amsterdam. Ontbijtbuffet was geweldig.Enorm aanbod en zeer smakelijk. Niet tegen staande deze grote pluspunten zal ik NOOIT nog boeken bij dit Mercure Hotel en waarschijnlijk ook niet in een ander Mercure hotel. Reden; Zie mijn commentaar bij de minpunten.
Het hotel voldeed niet aan de verwachtingen omwille van volgende punten: -bij toekomst op kamer 1012 bleek er slechts één badjas en één paar slippers aanwezig te zijn. -Badhanddoeken,bekertje in de badkamer,enz... waren ook maar voor één persoon voorzien. -Op zondag 5 juli om 15u15 waren de bedden nog niet opgemaakt en ook de kamer was nog niet gereinigd.Gevolg:extra kosten aan de bar. -Na klacht,telefonisch en aan de balie is er direct iemand de kamer in orde gaan brengen. -Men zou ook een badjas en slippers voorzien voor de tweede persoon maar daar heb ik NIETS van gemerkt. Slotbedenking:WAS DEZE KAMER WEL VOORZIEN VOOR TWEE PERSONEN?De prijs was in ieder geval wel voor twee personen.

room 8002 had no air conditioning so had to move to room 8003 after already unpacking. Lift broke down so had to walk down eight flights of stairs. Coffee and milk was not replaced for the second day Awful drilling noise at approximately 08.00 on the second morning due to work being carried out on the outside of the building,we were hoping for a later rise.

Service desk upon arrival had 2 people. One was a trainee and the other one completely ignored us. We had to wait while she was checking some papers and the trainee was helping someone else.

It is a pity that there is no swimming pool in that hotel, but then again, not many 4 star hotels in Amsterdam have this.

2nd time to stay at this hotel, nice rooms, double room actually means a double bed, not two singles, or two singles pushed together.
A bit far from the city centre, but good access to the Ring if driving. Service in the bar is a bit slow.

The special discount under 100 Euros is very much appreciated.
My wife and myself spent a NOISY and VERY BAD NIGHT as the seal sound (Zegel geluid) of the left side of the left window was damaged ; then we had into our ears all the loud noise of the highway during the night and we only could get asleep very late, when less cars and trucks were going on this highway. I indicated the problem at the desk.

I enjoyed the tea and coffee beverages in the room. the free toiletries were pleasant and very indulgent I liked the decor style in the room and the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was lovely
Not enough cream sticks to go with the tea and coffee, each day. I preferred having a choice of two teas not just earl gray. i didn't enjoy being woken at an early hour to pay the bill, because my card had been refused the day before I was leaving, I had explained that I was paying cash and card and travellers check, and so wouldn't be putting the entire amount on my credit card. I offered my passport as security, this was refused and I was urged to pay at least 400 euros there and then. Most unpleasant, as the receptionist said she thought I may leave without paying. I felt like a criminal or something.

Even doe the hotel is not near the Amsterdam centre it is located in a very beautiful and peaceful area, and is a very nice 45 minutes walk to the centre. But for dose who don't like to walk it has a metro very near by and taxis parked in front of the hotel all the time. And you can always rent a car or bike.
-The day we arrived, one of the bath towels weren't crystal white. It has some dark spots, which I don't understand how could they miss them when they where ironing it. -On the 3rd day there was a bath towel missing in a room for 2 persons. -One day they didn't clean the room and Never changed the sheets will we were there. Advice: You should, always, clean the rooms, change the sheets and stamped the toilet seat and the bath tube with a "DESINFECTED" sine.

Food in restaurant was very good. Room was serviced very well. Wireless internet access worked well. Breakfast was good.
Receptionist sent me to the wrong lift 3 times as my card would not work in it. Didn't think his attitude towards me was very professional, and the mistake made me feel stupid. His apology was not made effectively. Receptionist was not very helpful with directions to my office. Far too noisy early in the morning, I struggled to sleep. Shower in bathroom was not very efficient or easy to use.

The hotel was clean and tidy with a nice bar.
I booked 2 separate rooms for a 2 night stay at the Mecure Amsterdam. However one of the rooms was not required because one of my companions broke their ankle and failed to make the trip. I informed the Hotel that I only needed 1 room and hoped to receive some kind of refund. I expected to pay 1 night for the empty room but NOT the full amount. The Hotel had an empty room for 2 nights and my expense. The hotel did not offer to re-let the room and therefore recover some of my costs.

Staff are generally friendly and helpful, and the hotel is clean. Yet it seems they are understaffed, upon arrival, we waited 25 mins in line to be able to check in.
-I was unable to open the safe box at 12 midnight, I had important items that I urgently needed, I was told by reception to wait till the morning. I was even told that "I should not have put them in the safe box." I wonder why they have safe boxes in rooms then?! -The room was in a non smoking floor, yet when I entered, it was very smoky. Room service should have informed reception about that, so the room can be ventilated before a new guest occupies the room. -It was my first time in Amsterdam, I did not realize that transportation was that expensive. I saved 30 Euros than staying around central station, yet I ended up paying 60 Euros in transporation because of our luggage. -The room was not up to the standard to other Mercure hotels I have stayed at in Eruope, specially Germany.

Since I am a Norwegian I am not so used to service minded people.hehe. So therefore i was very pleased with how helpful you were wiht how to get to places and so on. I enjoyed my stay very much and it was an excellent location for us since we were going to a concert at the Arena. Just like to inform you that it does not take 1 hour to walk to Arena:) Only 35-40 minutes which is not much since we are used to walking.

This hotel don't have a ice machine on every floor. The only ice is in the firs floor bar. The breakfast is to expensive.The location is to far for downtown.

Minibar... Tip: graag direct op de koelkast een aanwijzing over het gebruik. Ik las de info pas toen ik de dag na aankomst zat te relaxen en in de folders begon te kijken.Ik had er een paar dingen uitgehaald om te bekijken en een keuze te maken en toen bleek dat het al op de rekening stond. (is wel goed opgelost)

het ontbijt is duur in vergelijking met de prijs voor de kamers, bovendien was het voor ons niet echt duidelijk of het ontbijt inbegrepen was. Bij aankomst werd ons gezegd wanneer er kon ontbeten worden. Ikzelf kan wegens een ziekte 's morgens enkel een yoghurtje eten en toen ik dan nadien 20 euro voor mijn yoghurt moest betalen deed dit wel wat pijn in de protemonnee

Gezien de locatie van ons kantoor, is de ligging van het hotel ideaal.
men ziet veel personeel aan het bargedeelte maar er zijn er slechts enkelen die voor de bediening zorgen. Dit op hun eigen tempo en dus verwekt dit zo nu en dan frustratie. Een ontbijt dat 40 Euro kost lijkt me ook een beetje aan de hoge kant.

Ein schönes Hotel zu einem günstigen Preis.
Nachdem wir uns beschwert hatten, dass in unserem Zimmer der Badezimmerventilator sehr laut und dauerhaft lief und wir die Nacht nicht schlafen konnten, entschuldigte man sich sofort und wir bekamen ein neues Zimmer. In diesem Zimmer war der Ventilator allerdings auch die ganze Nacht an, aber nicht so laut. Die immer waren geräumig und auch das Frühstück war sehr gut und reichhaltig.
In beiden Zimmern, die wir hatten, lief während der gesamten Aufenthaltsdauer die Ventilation im Badezimmer. Vorallem bei unserem ersten Zimmer war das so laut, dass man nachts nicht schlafen konnte. Da wir zu sechst waren, wollten wir gerne alle Zimmer auf einem Flur, dies war nach Aussage der Zimmervermittlung nicht möglich. Als wir dann allerdings am nächsten Morgen ein anderes Zimmer bekamen, war das auf dem gleichen Flur, wie vorher, also hat uns in dieser Beziehung die Rezeption am Vortag etwas angeschwindelt.
