Description

The NH Amsterdam Centre hotel is within walking distance of the lively Leidseplein and several museums and shopping streets. When you feel the need to relax you can visit the Health Club or the Sogno Restaurant. The hotel rooms are equipped with an internet connection and coffee and tea facilities as well as other facilities.

From the NH Amsterdam Centre it is only a short stroll to the museums that surround the Museumplein, the exclusive shops in the P.C. Hooftstraat and several theatres and cinemas. Across from the hotel you will find numerous restaurants, bars and trendy clubs on the vibrant Leidseplein.

Food and Drinks

In the NH Amsterdam Centre the staff serve an extensive American breakfast buffet. On weekdays the breakfast service is from 07:00 to 11:00 h. and in the weekend from 07:00 to 12:00 h. There is 24-hour room service as well.
If you are a fan of the Italian cuisine then be sure to visit Ristorante Sogno. This restaurant is located on the ground floor of the NH Amsterdam Centre and offers a view at the sparkling lights of the Leidseplein. Taste their home made Italian seasonal and regional specialties, such as pasta, fish and meat dishes, with the accompaniment of a good glass of Italian wine. Top your dinner of with a delicious dessert such as Tiramisu or ice cream. Sogno is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 18:30 and 22:30 h.

Surroundings

The NH Amsterdam Centre is very centrally located near the Leidseplein, where you will find numerous nice restaurants, bars and clubs. Could be much better...

Location is very good.

This is suppose to be a above the average hotel, but we had a problem with a key and electronic lock and staff wasn't very agile to solve the issue, non smoking room smelled on weed, they ask 100 euro deposit if you don't use credit card.

Plus = you should place a somewhat discrete stand (in your bar or lobby) of "up-to-the-minute" entertainment, description of pubs & bars, and pub / club / bar hours. Plus, what type of clientele "usually frequents" each place of relaxation, fun, conversation, dance, etc. in The Leidseplein as you are ideally located near that lively neighborhood ... just a pleasant walk away from Leidseplein through a very minature Central Park.

Service "In English" with a smile.

The concierge was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and giving directions. He was also helpful with the rules for charges for using the telephone. The men and women working the desk were also very polite and helpful with the use of the internet.

Very good situation. Good transport links to centre of old town. Staff very helpful and polite. Buffet breakfast excellent.

Room a bit smal for a 5 star hotel. The hotel restaurant (italian) said they had no tables free when we just turned up without a reservation but there were at least a couple free without "reserved" signs on them. Not sure if they were too keen on letting us in because we arrived quite late. Also the room cleaning was not good. On both the mornings after the room was cleaned there were cotton buds (for cleaning your ears) on the floor by the bed. Maybe because we did not leave any small change on the side for the cleaning maids...

Very happy with stay

Excellent location, friendly staff and very clean room with nice extra touches.

When we booked online we were quoted a reduced rate with breakfast not included. When we checked in with the hotel they had no record of this and were charging us a much higher rate but breakfast was included. This was easily rectified when we showed them a print out of our booking confirmation. I would recommend that everyone bring a copy of this

Concept great, execution poor.

The hotel is located very centrally in a great area. Very nice modern interior and very clean. They are very complete when it comes to washroom supplies etc. Bathtub is great.

Service is often slow, sometimes non-existant. I waited 45 mins for a (paid-for) internet password, hours for a second robe, and they flat out refused to give me a new bath sponge. Not exactly 4 star service in my opinion.

This hotels location is central, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and tidy. I would definately use it again and recommend it to others.

One reception staff member was pretty abrupt and didn't give a good impression of helpfulness. I would not hold this against the hotel though as a negative comment; everyone has bad days!

We stayed in room 130 (standard room). A plus is the wooden floor in the room.

Our sheets were no so clean and there were old. Room is located too close the main chillers outside and the noise has been uncomfortable. At the end is a four stars hotel with the price of a five stars.

QUIETER THAN OTHER HOTELS IN THE VERY CENTER

I HAD THIS ISSUE WITH MY RESERVATION. AT CHECK-IN WE FOUND OUT FROM THE RECEPTIONIST THAT BREAKFAST WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?! ON OUR RESERVATION IT WAS INCLUDED . IT TOOK A FEW MINUTES AND THEY KEPT A COPY OF THE RESERVATION I HAD (THANK GOD I PRINTED IT AND TOOK IT WITH US). AT CHECK-OUT THE SAME ISSUE AROUSE (THEY WANTED US TO PAY BREAKFAST - 250 EUROS EXTRA...) I REMINDED TO THE OTHER RECEPTIONIST THE SAME THING THAT OUR RESERVATION MENTIONED THE BREAKFAST INCLUDED... AGAIN THEY KEPT A COPY OF MY RESERVATION AND APPOLOGISED ONCE MORE... OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE WE HAD NO COMPLAINTS.

The room me and my girlfriend had for two nights was exellent! we really feeld special in our stay there;)service was great from the beginning to the end...im gonna stay here the next time i go to Amsterdam!

I was a little bit confused with the payment of the hotel..price for the room two nights was ca 550 euro,but they charge 600 euros as a insurance. not before i checked out i got the 600 euros back and then paid 550 euros for the room...wasnt informed about this in the recption:(

Location is central for seeing everything.

We were given an upgraded room on the bottom floor, but it was located in the corner with absolutely no view. My sheets felt dirty upon arrival and were not changed once. Also, the hotel made a mistake by double charging my credit card and had to go through all kinds of trouble to get them to remove the second charge.

Great location, twin rooms very spacious. Staff were quite helpful and friendly, well equipt rooms, good value for money.

Booked a twin room for 2 nights, had double booked our room the first nite so had to share a double bed - nightmare!!!! Tried to get coffee in the morning, was asking 20 euros for cup of coffee (full breakfast rate!!!!), but on the flip side a minutes walk away were about a hundread cafe's where you could get food.

Room was very nice with all expected ammenities. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel was extremely clean and well kept.

Our room on the first floor was very noisy early morning. By the sounds of it it was above the kitchens and staff areas. One member of the bar staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. Sneered when asked for ice in drink and was most unhelpful and gave terrible service. He gave all dutch customers free nuts with drinks but didn't offer to foreign residents. We avoided the bar when he was working.
