+ the reception staff were very helpful, informative and friendly. also i asked for a wake up call and it was made to the second.the heating was as hot as you wanted which came in handy as it was very cold during my visit. many thanks. i think the NH group is a good hotel chain. ive stayed at the NH Caransa and that was very good also.

- the only faults i could say is that the lighting in the room was not bright enough. also the minibar only had two bottles of water.

- No air-conditioning in bedroom is unacceptable. Had to sleep with window open and endure high level of Spuis Street noise throughout two nights. All other hotels during our 12 day trip in Holland and France had airconditioning (even lesser priced hotels

+ the internet service was way too expensive. It should be free, like most international hotels. Also when I paid for the internet, I was told I would get free landline calls. I tried to make a call and was told my pin number that I was given did not work. When I called customer support for Swisscom, it said the number was not active.

+ Centrally located, very close to tram, the superior room we had was really nice, clean,sufficiently big...

- but, in case you mind, it had awful view. It was a side room, with view on a narrow alley, so you could only see the pipes of the opposite building (front rooms probably have view either to the street or the canal, as the hotel has 2 entrances).

+ Centrally located. Rooms clean and while they are small they were nonetheless adequate.

- No air conditioning in the room making it hot and stuffy. Charged an extra €10 from original figure. Not sure why , didn't ask because I didn't realise it at the time.

+ Good location

- Service. I had booked and paid for 3 double rooms. However one of my colleagues was a single lady and was placed in a single room without any notification. When we complained all that was offered was a free breakfast for this one lady. Which meant she had to eat on her own. There was no explanation apart from that a single room costs the same as a double !!!!. I was very disappointed.

+ Central location 10 mins from central station, 5 mins from all the rest! Kept our bags secure before and after check in and out. Very professional and efficient English speaking receptionists. Great mix of young and old, large groups to singles at this hotel with no bother whatsoever.

- Perhaps the keycard system for every door and elevator is a little tedious when youre tipsy but what would you rather have, security or open access. Be sure to watch your bill if youre the one who organised and is paying for a group (stag/hen nights) as they might inadvertantly charge you twice for breakfasts or extras to the other rooms in your party, where the occupier already paid. I noticed, they apologised and refunded.

+ The hotel was excellent for the price for Amsterdam. Staff were brilliant and very friendly. The location is very central to everything for tourists - and you are right beside the grachten gordle and Jordaan, the loveliest part of Amsterdam. I would happily recommend this hotel and stay there again the next time I'm in town.

- I thought the internet service in the lobby was poor - slow computer and my companion had problems opening a pdf!

+ Staff were extremely helpful and went out of there way to look after me and my friend. They organised one of our tours for us and guided us on where to go and where not to go. The room was very spacious and clean. I would definitley recommend this hotel and stay here again.

- The hallway outside in the morning was a bit noisy - you could hear house keeping and room service staff.

+ The price that we had booked on Hotels.nl was half what the hotel expected us to pay. They claim it was an error at Hotels.nl but of course we got the low price anyway. A very reasonable price given that is was not prepaid.

- -my booking price for 2 nights was 148e, first I was charged 212e (after arguing and printing the reservation e-mail, the price was corrected) -my room was really small compared to my friend's room, which also was with a canal wiew... -room doors not sound-reducted, all noise from the corridor was clear to hear, disturbing.

+ Excellent service - bathroom in allocated room smelled of drains so we were offered an upgrade and had wonderful room overlooking canal. An easy walk from Central Station and close to all sights.

- Pretty expensive for a small room with poor storage for clothes, our room was so small we couldn't open one of the wardrobe doors properly as the not very comfy bed got in the way. Stingy with the tea and coffee. Sunday AM check-out slowwww!!!

+ Great location in Amsterdam. Nice bathroom, good quality linen.

- Very odd shaped room (140) which was either too small or badly arranged to be able to use the desk properly - this was a serious problem. The Pay TV channels did not show the advertised movies and two of the four channels were such poor quality as to be unwatchable.

+ Good location. Helpful staff. Great price for a one nice stay. Rooms very well appointed (but very small).

- Asked for a 7:30 wake-up call - did not get it. The reception clerk checked - it was set for 8:30 - the same time as we booked a taxi. The same man took both requests. Human error but no apology!

+ Group of 10 stayed in 5 standard rooms, all happy with room sizes, location, ameneties, service. Reception very helpful, free loan golf-umbrellas from reception a bonus on a rainy day, 'All-day Sunday' check-out means you can keep the room until 5PM if leaving on Sunday as we were!

+ clean, beautifully presented hotel in a good location for seeing the sights. Night Key is an exellent choice for security however no one checked we had handed in our extra cards when we checked out.... we had to come back to hand them in as we forgot!

- dont report faults at night... they dont respond! no PAY tv despite requesting it to be "fixed" both evenings of our stay, also no extra pillows, or toothbrushes as requested. Expensive breakfast in comparision to what is available locally.
