Description

The Omega Hotel Amsterdam is a small, well maintained 3-star accommodation in a quiet neighbourhood. The hotel looks out over the public garden Vondelpark, a great place for a walk or a picnic, and is right next to the Cornelis Schuytkwartier, a trendy area with many boutiques and cafés. However, the Omega Hotel is also close to several famous attractions of Amsterdam. The hotel is within walking distance of the Museumplein, the site of the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum with its world-renowned collection of Rembrandt's and the stately concert hall Concertgebouw. From the hotel you can also easily reach the Leidseplein, an area where you can enjoy the city's vibrant nightlife: it has many restaurants and cafés, clubs and cinemas, as well as the municipal theatre Stadsschouwburg and a casino. In short, the Omega Hotel lets you enjoy the two sides of Amsterdam. You can pay a visit to the many cultural and tourist attractions of the city, but also enjoy the atmosphere of a friendly residential area. During the day you may indulge in the elegant shops of famous fashion designers in the nearby P.C Hooftstraat and Van Baerlestraat, and at night you can retreat back to the quiet surroundings of the hotel.

The hotel has 32 rooms, all of which are warmly decorated. The 24-hour reception will gladly be at your service day and night. Users of a laptop can use a wireless internet connection at no extra charge. In the Omega Hotel you are merely a few minutes away from a tram stop, which provides an excellent connection to the Central Station and the many interesting tourist sites of the city.

Food and Drinks

The breakfast is served on weekdays from 07:00 to 10:00 h., and on the weekend from 07:30 to 10:30 h. For an extensive meal you only have to walk to the nearby Van Baerlestraat, which is the location of some of the most renowned restaurants of Amsterdam.

Internet

With your laptop you can use the wireless internet connection in the hotel at no extra charge.

Other information

- The hotel has a 24-hour reception.

Surroundings

The nightlife area Leidseplein and the city's beautiful and characteristic ring of canals can also be easily reached. A tram stops in front of the hotel, which can take you to Central Station and all the famous attractions of the city centre. The exclusive P.C. Hooftstraat and Van Baerlestraat, both of which are in close proximity to the hotel, are two important shopping streets. In the latter you can also find the Culinaire 7, a cluster of Amsterdam's most renowned restaurants.

+ Decent clean rooms, comparable prices to other similar things, close to museums, decent breakfast
- not many shops/restaurants in the area, wireless internet fades in and out
Martin Vöhringer
7.0
+ breakfast included and of good quality, close to tram station, clean
- small rooms, old building
Carla No frills whatsoever
4.6
+ The location is very good. The staff at reception were very friendly, helpful and efficient.
- The breakfast was very disappointing. They could do a lot better than this. Everything was done in the cheapest way possible. We had to buy extra soap and a small pillow. They were no frills wahtsoever. It felt like they wanted to invest as little as possible in customer care and comfort.
Very Displeased Omega Guest IF YOU HAVE A BAD BACK OR REQUIRE SLEEP DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
4.2
+ The thin gentleman that worked one night during our stay was the only friendly staffmember. Only positives to this hotel were the location (3 minute walk to Vondelpark, a little further you have museumplein, also location was quiet as the church across the street was under construction and the bells didnt ring) and the price (which there are better deals out there if you look)
- The absolutely worst bed I have ever slept in. 3 nights of no sleep whatsoever (but hey... its Amsterdam, who needs sleep) The shorter more 'portley' gentlemen was extremely rude and unhelpful for the duration of our stay. The breakfast was only good the day the young guy was doing it. The other days the guests would have to move the dirty dishes from the table because the Hotel Staff was busy complaining about other guests in the lobby adjacent to the dining area. I will neve stay here again. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!!!
Anonymous Okay except for the pillows
6.8
+ Room was fine and service was friendly.
- Pillows were very thick and hard, resulting in serious neck pain in the morning.
Andrea Mastrobuono Very good deal for a hotel located close to downtown
9.4
+ The hotel is located close to Van Gogh's museum and the National Museum and Leidseplein plaza where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. Tram number 2 drops you off at 5 min walking distance from the hotel and reaches downtown and Central Station directly.
- No TV in the room. Hair dryer was not in the bathroom but in the drawer in the desk room.
Peter Uittenbroek Cheap hotel, good for backpackers/budget travelers
5.4
+ Cheap Daily roomservice Tram nearby
- Size of room Thin walls Thick pillows
Karin Quiet location, helpful service
6.2
+ friendly, helpful service
- White towels and sheets had black spots, heating / towel holder in bathroom dusty
Laura Very very good!!!!!

+ Location's ok. Some good, but expensive restaurants in the area.
- No Internet available above the first floor. Very noisy due to construction sites opposite, no air-conditioning. Access electronics are very old and quite often do not function properly

3.2
+ near to museums
- very rude staff, at the reception very impolite person copied my ID without my permission and by leaving the person at reception wanted 4% extra charge for paying by credit card and he copied my credit card, which is absolute illegal!!!
Karthic Swaminathan Budget hotel.
9.2
+ Customer service is good. The staffs are friendly. Breakfast is very nice ! Room is comfortable and linens are clean. We had a window straight ahead of a church which keeps ringing every hour but it is ok once we got over it. It is not far away from the city center when you travel in tram.
Frankie Edwards Nice hotel, not in the city centre but not too far
7.6
+ The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful
- It is not too far away from the city centre but it is a bit of a treck, especially in cold weather
Matthew Mitchell A little off-key
3.0
+ A private room rather at nearly a hostel price was good, as well as a small fridge and a large window. (Not all rooms are equipped with the same window)
- No customer service, linens were questionably clean and I found several things missing in my room; after looking for them for an hour I gave up and left only to have room service hand me my license without a word while I waited for the elevator; bizarre sketchy and not cool.

7.4
+ nice hotel , not expensive, clean, calm
- a little bit far from center (15 min walk ) , reception stuff not so kind...
Alison Jenkins Great Location
7.0
+ Location Quiet
- Broken shower Small bed Staff a little unhelpful
Carla A good choice!
7.0
+ Location and breakfast are certainly the best in the hotel.
- The staff was not friendly or helpful.
Alexey A good hotel
8.0
+ I think Omega is a quite good hotel for the money. I had a very convenient room on the ground floor with the direct exit to a cosy small garden and stable wi-fi connection. The staff was friendly and adequate. The breakfasts were tasty. The hotel has a beautiful interior and is located in a pleasant district.
- Maybe the only minus point for me was that the location was at a certain distance from the city center. However, from some other point of view this may look like a plus. You get a feel of real Amsterdam, not only tourist attractions. Besides, the 4% charge for using a banking card does not look logical to me.
Mark Drakesmith Cheap, good quality hotel.
9.2
+ This was is a very good hotel. I got a budget double room for €69 a night. The room was a decent size, with a large comfortable double bed, TV, en-suite bathroom with shower and air conditioning. The price includes breakfast which is very tasty. Staff were always friendly and helpful.
- The only bad point is there was no WiFi in my room, but I was able to use the WiFi for free in the lobby.
Anonymous Good, but no free wifi
7.4
+ Good service. Good breakfast
- Although advertised, the internet is NOT free. You can buy a day of internet for 5 euros. But we had a room on the top floor without reception anyway.

+ - Location: near tram; not in the busy centre but not too much outside - Beds: beds were very good! - Breakfast: breakfast was okay.
- - Location: hotel was in front of a church, we could hear the bells ring in the morning. - Staff: most of them couldn't speak Dutch, which i find very strange. The cleaners were very unfriendly and were very pissed when we were not leaving, but only getting breakfast. In general: i expected a lot more for 100€/night. I think the hotel is very uninviting. It all looked very old(fashioned) and there were cracks in the wall. For this price, you probably could get a better room (allthough the roomprices in Amsterdam are very high in general).
Joel B Wonderful hotel by Vondelpark.
8.0
+ Great Breakfasts. The room facing the back are very quiet, save the birds singing in the morning. Rooms have a very small fridge to keep drinks cold. The hotel has a great location vis-a-vis the major museums but, if you want lots of action, look for hotels closer to the centrum. Its about a 40 minute walk directly to the central station. Hotel staff and polite and efficient. Good location to cycle out of town from. Very close to Vondelpark. I would definitely stay again.
- Internet access is good but difficult in the upper rooms. The upper rooms got quite hot over night and I expect would be cold in the winter. Not too much choice for restaurants in the immediate area though it is only 10 minutes to a much broader choice.
Andries Smuts Service must improve.
6.4
+ Breakfast was good compared to other establishments in Amsterdam.
- At the time we arrived, the person was on the 'phone for at least 15 minutes before he attended to us. Your website does not warn prospective tenants about additional 4% charge if paid by credit card. At the time of payment one evening, the person behind the counter was more interested in the soccer on the TV than attending to me. When I questioned the 4%, he was reude and said it is not his concern. He had recently started working there.
J Nice hotel
8.4
+ Hotel location was perfect near museums in quiet district. (except church bells, but they didnt bother much). Personnel was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was great surprise! Including more than just bread.

+ - quaint hotel - close to museum attractions and tram stop
- - went down for breakfast at 7am when supposed to be served from as had early flight and it was not prepared, the staff member only began to get things ready when we arrived downstairs, we waited for a bit and then had to leave

+ Nice view on a church & friendly staff
- Cold room and empty batteries in the TV remote control

+ Everyone was very kind and helpfull. For 3 star class hotel, it was very good.
Renske Hickey With a bit of personal care this could be a lovely hotel
5.6
+ Quiet area Lovely shower Daily cleaning of room good. Good breakfast
- Impersonal. Overall cleaning poor Cigarette buds in empty cups full of water at entrance of hotel, Spider webs on ceiling of bedroom. One morning breakfast chef didn't turn up, breakfast late. Reception not very helpfull.
Biellmann A relatively pleasant stan in the Omega
6.6
+ Location was very good Breakfast was good
- The beds are really soft and unconfortable. It was a bit loud in the room next to the reception desk.
Zalman Liat Good. Have to improve the lights
9.0
+ The service was excellent. They were very pleasant and kind.
- The room was very small. There is no space for two people in the room. There is not enough light in the room.
Dianne Good value and enjoyable stay. I would stay here again.

+ Well done breakfast
- We were asked to pay the whole stay at our arrival. After that we realized that the room was not already done at our arrival (5 o'clock) and we needed to wait half an hour.

+ Location was superb in quiet street near to museums and away from the city centre. Tram number 2 stopped nearby with a good service to the centre. Buffet breakfast was excellent.
- Room much smaller than that shown on website. Double bed was a single base with shelves fixed to wall to widen out. Room very tight for two people. Stairs were very steep, so be careful (but there was a lift). Some noise from rear garden at night.
Kim Fox
6.8
+ Staff were mostly friendly and helpful, the hotel itself was clean and reasonably priced.
- Unfortunately we had a bug problem in one of the rooms and when relocated to another room, it had the same problem! also we were moved from a twin to a very small double. Staff were extremely helpful and quick to deal with the problem, but it did impact our stay.
Carol
8.8
+ I had a large room facing the back of the building, so I barely noticed the bells of the church across the street that chimed on the hour. The room was quiet, comfortable and convenient, staff were friendly and helpful, and I would definitely stay there again.
- The floor of the shower stall was slippery -- watch out! The room was advertised as having a minibar. Normally that means a small fridge stocked with food/drink items. There was a small fridge, but it was empty. The breakfast crowd on Monday morning overwhelmed the staff, who could not keep up with replenishing food and clearing tables. On other mornings there was no problem and breakfast was good.

+ Helpful and interactive front office staff. Guiding for necessary travel and stay comfort.
- None. You may like to attend to TV System for proper functioning and also have a few channels in English.
Ashley Curran
4.8
+ Hotel was inexpensive.
- Our room was not ready when we arrived, I believe that our reservation had been lost. We were given a room right next to the front desk, which was very noisy. We were given the wrong code to use the internet. We requested a wake-up call and did not get one and had to rush to the airport.

9.0
+ I like the bed it was very comfortable and the breakfast was just right for the hotel price. The room is a bit small but still comfortable. The bathroom is clean and the shower is nice. I like the location because it's quiet, a walking distance to Van Gogh museum and Rijks museum only less than 10 mins and approximately 15 mins walking distance to Leidseplein. I would recommend this hotel to everyone especially to those who are in a travel budget.
RENE DE SOUSA
7.4
+ Located at the heart of the Fashion and Museum District and close to the Concert Hall and trams serving this area. Breakfast was filling and available at 7am.
- Do not compare this hotel to a 4 Star hotel in London, Paris or Hong Kong; but it is clean and comfortable. Note that payment of the bill by credit card incurs a Euros 5 charge.
Celia
9.0
+ Cosy, comfortable, large room. Ideal location for walking or just hop on the tram at the end of the street.
- Get down early for breakfast!
Kirppu
5.2
+ - quiet and peaceful - triple room - refrigerator in use - good beds
- - churchbells boasted every hour from 7 a.m until 11 p.m. and the church was júst next to the hotel --> should be mentioned! - we missed vegetables for the breakfast - blankets should be changed: they were from the period of world war II

+ Great location, really nice staff and cute hotel
- The room was dirty when we arrived, but we went to eat, returned and it was spotless

8.2
+ Very well located, not far from the Museum Plein and 10-15min walk from Leidsplein. Nice Hotel. Very helpfull at the reception desk. Very quiet room.
- Very small room. No Internet connection available appart from the reception desk. Nice breakfast buffet, but the waiter seemed very inexperienced and slow to refill the empty dishes.
Judith
9.4
+ Really great staff who went out of their way to help me get around town easily; extremely good breakfast. The big church clock across the square was easy to ignore. Good location, nice neighborhood with great little cafes and restaurants at every turn. Connexxion shuttle service from the airport is cheaper than taking the train and a tram to the hotel.
- No towels
David
8.2
+ Excellent location. We booked a triple room, but they don't have any more, therefore they give us two double room for the same prise. Good breakfast.
- One of our rooms faced to the terace and there was a party that night and they were very noisy.

8.6
+ Firstly, one must realize that Hotels in AMS are expensive. Secondly, hotels in Europe are not like hotles in USA. You get much more for your money in USA. BUT, this was a nice hotel for the price. Excellent location. Breakfast was VERY GOOD and was ready at 7 am (1/2 hour early). Room was clean, but insist on A/C if its summer.
- I booked an A/C room with a double bed, but when I got to the room it was not cleaned yet, it had 2 small beds, and no A/C. I walked out, down to the desk, and made my stand. The lady at the counter did remedy the situation and gave me a room as booked. From there it was a great stay.
