The Owl Hotel offers the tranquillity of a residential area and a bustling city centre at walking distance. Anonymous A quiet, welcoming place near park and museums: 9 August 2011; 9.8; + Very accommodating hosts. A tasty Dutch breakfast buffet with cold meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, fruits, yogurt, etc. is included in the room rate.The pleasant downstairs sitting and dining area have picture windows overlooking the pretty enclosed garden with tables. Our room was a good size and had nice views, and there's an elevator. It's a very quiet residential neighborhood close to the beautiful Vondelpark and museum district, and an easy walk to the canals. We arrived jetlagged from the U.S., received a warm welcome for our one-night stay July 20 before a cruise, and would definitely stay here again.; - Duvet comforter was too warm for summer, so we used just the cover; would have liked washcloths, but they're not always available in small European hotels.

My rom was not ready, but the man at the desk allowed me to use another room to shower and nap. This kindness took the edge off of 17 hours of travel and started my weekend in Amsterdam off in such a warm way. Everyone was very helpful with directions.; - This probably cannot be fixed, but the hotel itself is a little noisy because the walls are so thin. I ran a bath at 10 p.m., and my neighbor on the other side was knocking on the wall, so of course, I stopped. I could hear people snoring and TV and talking, but that is not a big deal.

The staff is very friendly and efficient. When I lost my telephone in a taxi in my way to the airport, the very young lady at the reception helped me to get in touch with the driver. Next time I go the Amsterdam I will live only in this hotel!

Excellent transport to all the main sights and a bus to airport. Good cafes, restaurants and bars nearby as long as you choose carefully. We would strongly recommend this for leisure or business and would certainly return.; - The room was small but adequate. We would have preferred a double bed rather than twin. The main negative comments are the breakfast. There was no fresh fruit (only tinned) or yoghurt. The coffee from a machine was poor by Dutch standards and the staff we saw were unsmiling.
