- What's that smell?
- Friendly, courteous staff.
- Dirty rooms. Room we were checked into smelled of damp mildew. There was what appeared to be urine (yellowish, foul smelling liquid) puddled on the lamp in the room. The ceiling was falling apart, rotting at the seams and dropping bits of rust colored mold on the floor. There was dried blood on the handtowel (or feces) and a spattering of coffee. All of this in our "executive" room.

- Diana the waitress
- I would particularly like to congratulate Diana, the waitress in the restaurant who served us for two days at both breakfast and lunch times. She was extremely friendly, polite and efficient. A first class ambassador for the hotel.
- I requested a room overlooking the canal but didnt get one. The room above our room must have had woodenfloors or creaky floorboards and I heard every steo overhead.

- The big plus of Pulitzer is its location on the canals and the atmosphere rended by its architectural concept of Amsterdam ancient houses around a nice central garden.
The staff is also charming, both at reception desk, as well in the coffee shop for breakfast. The breakfast is absolutly perfect in quality and atmosphere in those charming dining rooms.
- Althoug we had reserved a superior room, for which we accepted an extra daily 50¤ for the canal vew, we expected a rather larger room, with a more characteristic dutch furniture, as shown on the web site.
To find the room direction is not very easy during the first 2 days, 278 B, after 3 days we got used to it.
We would have liked more information upon arrival about boat cruise from the hotel front door.

- Great location; excellent service from the bell desk regarding automobile, luggage handling, directions, et al. Very good bar and breakfast service.
- Concierge was ill-informed about his own museum recommendations, gave lousy advice about restaurants, was often exhibiting "superior attitude" when friendliness was more appropriate. Front desk was sometimes unpleasant.

- The evening concert was a bonus however we had not been told of it when we booked
- The downside was that both nights we stayed and were located overlooking the canal, they were either erecting scaffolding for the stage or dismantling it. Consequently we had little sleep
and it did detract from our stay.
This happens once a year and gusests overlooking the canal should be warned about it.
Secondly when we arrived we had two arguments with staff. Firstly we knew we had paid for breakfast and they denied this, secondly we were put in an ordinary room and not the executive room I'd paid for. We resolved both matters, but shouldn't have had to waste an hour so doing.

- The Pulitzer is big American business hotel which takes up several canalside houses. Service is decent, but you're paying for it. All you'll see is the guy at the check in anyway. The moment you order food or eat anything out of the fridge, you'll be paying through the nose. Rooms are quiet and clean but nothing special. Even using the internet in the lobby costs. The only real plus points here are the location and the peace of mind that staying in such a huge hotel brings. Wouldn't hurry back. Much prefer the Toren.

- Fantastic location and the best canal tour possible on the hotel's own boat.
- We stayed at the back of the hotel where the rooms are not as impressive as an earlier stay when I had been at the front of the hotel - the rooms seemed smaller and less well appointed - I will specify that I stay in rooms at the front of the hotel in future.

- very attentive and polite staff. - almost a little too attentive- apples delivered to our ddor, turn down service and chocolates..the bed was really comfortable and the bathrrom with the rainshower shower head was great. the location was perfect- next to boutiques and restaurants, not far from cbd. the foyer and bar were beautiful
- compared to the picture on the internet which showed a larger than average room the room was actually a very standard size misleading from the pictures- very lovely but not amazing. there were some deals for suites in other hotels which were the same money and might have been better value

- Excellent location, friendly staff
- Ground floor room too noisy at night - we were woken at least 3-4 times early in the morning, the worst being about 3.30am. The TV and Mini Bar in the room take up far too much space and make the room cramped.

- The complimentary items in the room. I mentioned in the plus points that it`s the little things that matter in this sort of hotel.
The staff were very good and friendly without exception.
The hotel was large but didn`t feel busy.
The area the hotel was in was very nice.
- I booked a double room but the `double` bed was two singles pushed together. They slid apart if you lay near the middle.
The breakfast (on sunday) was served a until a lot later than usual. The food was warm but not hot which was bad. It would have been excellent if it was hot and fresh.
I noticed these were many public areas in the hotel which were dusty. A bit more attention should be taken in this area.
The bath was not properly sealed around the edges.
I only mention the negative points because the hotel professes to be so good. It would be acceptable (and expected) if the hotel was of a lower class It`s the little things that matter in a high class hotel.

D Pleasing location
- On Thursday 19th October, the day before our departure, I notified the Concierge of our flight arrangements and requested a pick up from Connexions shuttle service. A pick-up was duly arranged for 8.07am Friday. We were outside at 8.00am sharp. We were never told that pick-up times can be varied. In fact our pick-up had left some 17 minutes earlier. We incurred a 50Euro taxi fare due to poor advice from the Concierge. We consider that the hotel should comment on this.

- The location was fine.
- Though the hotel was very elegant, we were very dissappointed in the experience. There were a few problems. We left the hotel at 3:30 or so and didn't return until nearly 9; the bed still wasn't there and I had to begin again with the negotiations to get one.
In addition, there was a party of children on the floor above us who were creating a TON of noise...clearly they were jumping from the beds to the floor. It took me about 5 phone calls to get someone to take me seriously and I finally (at about 10:30 p.m.) had to ask the lady to come to the room to listen for herself; once she did, well she went upstairs and dealt with the problem.
The other issue was that when we arrived at the hotel, it was raining a lot. When we asked for umbrellas, the concierge just shook his head and said...no more umbrellas. Sorry.
So, all in all, for the price -- it wasn't worth it. If you aren't going to get excellent service you might as well pay less and stay somewhere where you don't expect quiet, the bed you reserved, or an umbrella at the front desk.
Thanks for asking.

the architecture, the various ways rooms, lobby, gardens, sitting rooms where decorated was such a pleasure for the eyes ! that was exactly what we where looking for, my daughter and I :
