Score of 6 reviews: 8.4

Hotel Roemer Amsterdam is located in an 18th century mansion that has been rebuilt into a stylish and comfortable 4-star hotel. The hotel's location is ideal: it is within 200 meters of the entertainment venues that surround the Leidseplein, and within 600 metres of three renowned museums at the Museumplein. For an interesting stroll or picnic in the well-known Vondelpark public garden you will only need to walk to the street corner. For those who enjoy shopping, the famous shopping streets of the P.C. Hooftstraat and Van Baerlestraat are equally closeby. Also, since the nearby Leidseplein is one of the main connecting points for many tramlines, the city's public transportation system will ensure an excellent connection to the remaining parts of the city centre and the suburbs. The hotel offers bicycles and Vespa scooters for hire. You need to reserve the bicycles or Vespa scooters in advance.

Besides the outstanding location, the excellent facilities of the hotel will be equally pleasing to the hotel guest. The rooms all have their own unique character and are decorated with beautiful carpets and fabrics with classical patterns. The high quality designer furniture and the warm pastel shades finish the rooms and provide the guest with superb atmospheric accommodation. Not only will the guest be able to use a private safe and room service, the rooms also have personally adjustable air conditioning, an LCD television, a DVD player, iPod speakers, and a Nespresso coffee maker. The hotel rooms also feature an agreeable work space, with British and American plug adapters. The bathrooms are finished in Belgian natural stone and equipped with an extra large Jacuzzi, bath, and/or walk-in shower. An LCD television, designer bath products, bathrobes, and a powerful hair dryer are at your disposal.

The lounge and lobby areas are decorated with fine works of art and flower arrangements that complement the stylish interior. Adjacent to the hotel's garden, you will also find a luxurious conference room that is accessible through the cosy cocktail bar and is equally suitable for a private dinner.

Nice hotel centrally located in Amsterdam
  • + The room was comfortable and quiet. It was good for sleeping. It had enough space so we did not feel cramped at all. The breakfast was good. We liked the location of our room which was on the ground floor. At first we thought it might have street noise, but actually was quite quiet.

GREAT HOTEL
  • + A relaxed boutique hotel in a wonderful location. I loved the all-inclusive notion, the extra touches in the room and the great staff. I had an executive room with a great balcony on the back - a wonderful place to have a drink and enjoy an Amsterdam evening. I have been here twice and will certainly go back again.

PROMISES LUXURY BUT DELIVERS MEDIOCRITY
  • + very good location, quiet and easy to access trams and restaurants
  • grossly overpriced at Euros 410 per night; coffee machine did not work in the room neither did the weighing scales;insufficient mixers to go with vodka, gin and whisky- facecloths not replaced on second day-staff didnt know we were entitled to free drinks and appetizers and embarrassedus by cheking before we were allowed to have anything:THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN IN A 4 STAR HOTEL WHICH WE WERE PAYING 410 EUROS A NIGHT-WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN

  • + Quiet boutique hotel
  • Small room, limited cupboard space

Stay Here
  • + Great Location. Close to the park, museums, upscale shopping, and the tram. Very clean hotel with a friendly staff.
  • One very small drawback is that the doors to the rooms need to be pulled shut. Which if you or others aren't thinking about it can make a noise that may be disturbing.

A quiet oasis in the middle of the city
  • + The staff was very service minded and helped us with picking very good restaurants.
  • The only thing I can point out is the pillows, they were lumpy... :-), I guess the hotel is a bit on the expensive side, but we felt it was worth it.

  • (Travelling alone)
nice small hotel with good service and room amenities
  • + staff very nice and helpful. price of room included many complimentary perks. small and intimate. good location near vondelpark. lovely garden out back and nice patios for some rooms. quiet neighborhood.
  • hotel lobby and room a little the worse for wear. at peak hour for breakfast understaffed. small rooms and bathrooms with not very much closet space and too much furniture in the room.

  • + Excellent location, very good service
  • we had some maintenance problem at the Jacuzzi which cannot be rectified during our stay, which was pity and spoiled the fun

the sexiest hotel in Amsterdam
  • + cosy and stylish
  • the TV remote control was missing first, but soon recovered :-))

  • (Travelling alone)
Stress-free and cozy quarters for exploring Amsterdam
  • + Comfy bed, lovely bar/restaurant & front desk staff who were able to arrange early check-in with no problem. Bright breakfast room overlooking garden & nice breakfast selection, cozy lounge for evening drinks & low key socializing. Good shower once someone explained how it worked. Wonderful location close to Vondelpark, shopping, cafes and museums.
  • Hotel entrance & exit awkward with luggage, no porters to bring bags to room. Small but well designed room needs some refreshing... carpet was a bit worn, and at first glance marble floor in bathroom looked dirty but it was spilled candlewax that had not been removed.

  • + It is like visiting someones home... a very nice one at that! Staff welcoming and helpfull without being intrusive. Couldnt recommend the place high enough. Interior is very well design and theres so many nice touches - too many to list. Incl a relaxed Breakfast till 11 and free mini bar. Coffee machine in room was great and the bathroom was pure luxury - incl TV.
  • none - would visit again and again if budget and holiday allowance allowed!

  • (Travelling alone)
  • + A pleasant, comfortable, quiet and clean room. The receptionist gave me the information that I asked for, and a taxi was ordered promptly for me when I left.
  • Breakfast was poor. I had only 30 minutes to have breakfast, as I had to leave for the station at 7.30. The person who did the cooking (of eggs, etc) wasn't there at first (she was at the other hotel), and when she came, the boiled egg I asked for was very undercooked (although I had asked for it to be well cooked). There wasn't much choice available for breakfast and there was very little that was attractive, either on the menu or laid out on the table. The room prices are far too high for what is offered.

  • + Wonderful large bed and very comfortable. The staff were all excellent, very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed the all inclusive facility.
  • Bedroom a little small and only 4 hangers in the small wardrobe. Having said that the bed was large . Fine for us as only staying 3 nights and of average build. However did hit myself on t v when getting up to use bathroom at night.

  • + Great staff, always try to please you. Excellent taste in the decoration of the hotel.Rare!
  • Too expensive for what it is. Not enough stff in the kitchen, quite average breakfast, and could be more generous with food.

  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Very helpful staff Very good location All inclusive is a useful package
  • The hotel is looking a little tired. My original room flooded and the replacement room was not of the same standard.

  • + Really nice barman - Zahib?! very friendly, helpful. nice and clean rooms, confortable bed.
  • All inclusive?!?!? As this hotel is quite expensive and it was advertised as "all inclusive", it was kind of funny when they charged us for the bottle of shampagne we took with us to our room. Appertizers in the lobby?!?! Only peanuts - I would have expected at least some fruits. the price was too high.

  • expensive now for UK visitors with euro rates... and hotel staff didn't know too much about nearby attractions like the Keukenhoff etc

  • + comfortable, very nice decor, very nicely furnished, very well equipped (flat screens, speakers for ipod, DVD, coffee and tea maker, jacuzzi). The all inclusive breakfast and snacks and drinks is a great asset. The location is superb.

  • + The service was great, very friendly and responsive. Every question or request I made was addressed or answered right away. The hotel is very nice, and very well located. I would definitely stay again.
  • The restock of the beverages and snacks in the room was not consistent. I thought internet was included in the price, but it was not, as I was charged 10 Euros for access every day.

  • + Quiet, comfortable, quaint, good snack food via room service. Breakfast in bed for 3.50EU was awesome. From early check in to accomodate my needs to finding out of season fruit for my breakfast. The service at this hotel is great. This was my 10+ trip to AMS and I will say here again for sure.
  • None to speak of- Wireless thru the hotel would be nice. Euro was tough for US travelers. Nothing to do with the hotel.

  • + Great hotel - great value.
  • Aircon didn't work. The housecleaning had loaded all the laundry into the elevator....strange to walk into that. A bellman was banging on my door several times once because he wanted to out a coke in the minibar) odd....and then once late at night when I was trying to sleep. It was strange.

  • + Very nice atmosphere and excllent breakfast . A feeling of being at a home rather than in an impersonal hotel
  • Some of reception staff did not have great local knowledge tihs was definitely a minus Internet situation was horrific - extremely slow and once I lost my code no one could give me a new one

  • + All in all a great hotel and I would consider this again if I stayed in the same area. All inclusive rate is a good idea.
  • There was no TV in the main bar area. Hotel advertised snacks in the bar but the amount and choice was limited. In fact there is little to keep you in the Bar area if on your own. The TV in the bedroom is a little small if sitting in bed to watch.

  • (Young couples)
  • + in fact it is almost perfect. not big hotel, quite little and therefore very "familiar", very nice people in staff, well set, modern decoration and location. our room was excellent, big enough, clean, flat tv, tv in bath, jacuzzi-bath, and own video player, own coffee machine... more than we could use. wish come back.
  • could it be a little cheaper? it would be better for my economy... it would be nice that the "all in" include a pair of bicycles...

  • + Great staff, great ambiance.
  • My room was right next to the kitchen; very noisy.

  • + Very nice hotel. Quiet and near from Leidse Plein which is the area to stay for restaurants, drinks, etc...
  • Sometimes no available places for breakfast (two morning we had to wait around 10 minutes to get a table. In our room #33 the table is too big and take too much place in the room.

  • + A great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Will recomend this hotel to our friends and family.
  • No bad points at all.
9.6
  • (Young couples)
  • + Very nice and discreet hotel. Helpful staff and overall friendliness.
  • We stayed in room nr 17 and on the first night the swing doors next to us were slammed a few times, so much so that my husband had to go out and ask them to stop.
6.6
  • (Young couples)
  • + Excellent room, jacuzzi bath, balcony, 3 plasma screen tvs (one in bathroom, 2 mins walk from Van Gogh Museum and Leidesplein. Had a brilliant break, really relaxing. Barman in hotel excellent, carried the fairly useless receptionist.
  • On arrival hotel was over booked therefore there was no room available for us. We were moved to a hotel around the corner (lower spec, no air-con) for the first night. We moved back to Roemer for the second and third nights. We were given a free bottle of red wine and a number of apologies. As we had re-packed our clothes we asked for an iron. This took 45 minutes to be delivered. I also rang reception and asked for a corkscrew to open the bottle of wine we had been given, I gave up waiting for that to be sent to our room and nipped to the bar and opened it myself! We were informed that there were only 2 members of staff on so doing anything 'extra' was difficult.

  • + lovely quiet hotel, balcony overlooking the garden was delightful. Nice big comfy bed.
  • general housekeeping - did not replace flannels or tea in our room.

  • (Older couples)
  • + Upgraded our room for free since we were staying 6 nights. Most of the staff extremely professional and competent. Beautiful clean rooms with nice large new bed. 3 TV's. Whirlpool. Room always cleaned and towels replaced every day. Some of the best service we have ever experienced at a hotel. Would stay again.
  • One guy working the front desk was useless. Not sure if he had a hard time with English or what but could not offer any assistance and seemed annoyed that we were even asking for help. This was is stark contrast to the rest of the staff. Also, breakfast at 20 Euro was pricey for what you get, but service was great.

  • (Travelling alone)
  • + modern, nicely furbished and extremely quiet rooms (on the top floors, it must not be as nice if you have a room next door to the kitchen); nice and helpful staff
  • someone else must have used the telephone during our stay; the staff did however not charge us after we explained that we hadn't used the phone and we did not have to discuss this at length
9.2
  • (Young couples)
  • + Fantastic friendly service and wonderful staff. The room was immaculate and the rest of the hotel was lovely too. A fantastic stay
  • For an executive room, it was actually quite small. Not a problem at all though.

  • (Older couples)
  • + Nice, quiet area. Spacious, modern, luxury room, with bath and shower. Large very comfortable bed (2 twins pushed together). Air conditioned. Food was good - Cooked breakfast. Free computer use. Service was excellent.
  • Could hear some noise from above in hotel. No alarm in room. So high style that function is sometimes sacrificed (ie very shallow bathroom sink, complex controls).

Great hotel, nice touches, much more interesting that staying in the Marriot! Staff where great, standard of rooms excellent ...even the single! Wireless worked and was fast, food quality was good too. I would definately recommend and return.
