The Convent Hotel Amsterdam is a first class 4-star hotel in the heart of the historic centre of Amsterdam. Dam square and the central train station can be reached on foot in just a few minutes and you will also find many shops, theatres and cinemas in the vicinity of the hotel.

The Convent Hotel is established in a stylish monumental 17th century building, in the vibrant heart of the city of Amsterdam. Because it is situated close to the central train station, most important locations can easily be reached. You can reach the RAI Exhibition and Conference Centre and the World Trade Centre within 15 minutes by car, and Schiphol Amsterdam Airport within 20 minutes.

In this hotel you will find everything you need to make your stay a pleasant one. Enjoy in the bar a nice drink or relax in the sauna (at a charge). Sports freaks can work out in the gym. The two luxurious multifunctional rooms can be used for meetings or presentations for a maximum of 62 people. The staff will make sure that everything is according to your wishes. Very friendly staff at front office (also via telephone). Good and friendly cleaning service who cleans the room. Room with 3 beds very comfortable. Very convenient that the windows could be open for fresh air.

Clean, convenient, comfortable but not cheap and not inspiring

Near city centre, clean and efficient, generally friendly staff. Comfortable king size bed.

Fairly cramped room for a 4 star. Street side rooms get noise late and early (6 am +) from trams, reversing trucks and a few late night revellers. Charges for wireless internet access. Overcharged a couple of times - but fixed when pointed out.

Good location, friendly staff, quaint reception. Comfy beds with large feather pillows.

Some rooms very small, had to move as I couldn't even sit at desk. Internet an outrageous 22 Euros per day, and cable in room didn't work. Reception then tried to sell me wifi at 24 Euros! Cheaper to buy T-Mobile at 19.95. Breakfast also expensive at 22 Euros extra. Use the cafe next door...

Clean, tidy and affordable.

The hotel was placed close to many amenities, especially the railway station. It was very clean and reflected the description given. Excellent bathroom facilities.

The female staff need to learn to smile and greet guests on arrival. The male staff did this so much better. Also, extra pillows would be good in the rooms.

One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.

Breakfast was expensive and the choice not as good as some other places i have stayed. There was a mix up at check-in, and the receptionist did not seem to know I had prepaid for my room even though I had a printed copy of my reservation. It was rectified though.

Excellent comfort, excellent service. Although breakfast service could be a little faster. Serving is huge though!

Housekeeping ate our fruits in the room and didn't even bother to throw the seeds away!! We don't mind them taking some but finishing it is really bad.

The hotel changed its name from Sofitel to The Convent Hotel. If I hadn't checked into this before the stay, we'd still be looking for a Sofitel.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable and was central location with convenient walking to city center, shopping, and train station. Good restaurants nearby.

Hotel breakfast was very high quality but not flexible with offering ala carte when we wanted only toast and coffee - still had to buy one of the menu selections.

22 Euros for 24hrs for wifi access is a RIP-OFF. Thank goodness you also had T-Mobile access for which I have account. Wifi access should be free or reasonably priced e.g. 5 Euros for 24hrs. Are you aware that many professional people who blog and twitter are boycotting hotels who charge rip off prices for wifi .. for example, I publish an electronic newsletter that goes out to over 16,000 people and I will be telling them about my stay in Amsterdam - I will tell them great hotel - but don't stay there - the wifi is the most expensive I have come across anywhere in the world - even top class hotels!!!

Perfect location. Everything is in walking distance. When you arrive at the Amsterdam airport take the train to "Centraal Station" as it is a lot cheaper than a taxi. You will save approximately 30-35 euros and its only then a 5min walk to the hotel.

No bad points. If I was to go to Amsterdam again I would definitely stay here again.
