The College Hotel houses in a former school building from 1894, which stems from the same architectural period as the Rijksmuseum. The style can be recognised easily and the building rightfully enjoys a monumental status. The design of the architect and the interior designers homage the past but at the same time the amenities meet all modern standards. The high ceilings, fireplaces and stretching staircases add character to the hotel. The rooms are equipped with a bathroom with shower and toilet, airconditioning, telephone with direct line, flatscreen television, wireless internet, safe, minibar and bathrobe with slippers.

The neighbourhood is blessed with many restaurants, bars and a vivid nightlife, although culture-seeking guests will certainly enjoy the surroundings. The Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum are situated at the nearby Museumplein. The beautiful Vondelpark is easy to reach as well. In the P.C. Hooftstraat shopping enthusiasts can indulge in trendy extravagance. This street forms a nice passage to the city centre, although tram connections will shorten long strolls.

Surroundings

The College Hotel is situated at walking distance from the Vondelpark and the Museumplein. Along the Museumplein you will find the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum. The Concertgebouw is easy to reach as well. At a couple of hundred metres lies the sparkling P.C. Hooftstraat which will certainly appeal to shopping enthusiasts.

Food and Drinks

Breakfast is served between 07:00 and 10:00 h. during the week and from 07:30 to 10:30 h. during the weekend. The restaurant is situated in the former gymnasium. Here guests can enjoy traditional Dutch cuisine with a trendy touch. The restaurant is daily open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the lounge and the beautiful courtyard with terrace you can enjoy a cup of tea or a refreshing cocktail. In 2012 the terrace ended up in the top 5 of best terraces in the Netherlands. The private salons can be used for business meetings as well as private meetings.

Great boutique hotel in wonderful neighbourhood of Amsterdam
  • + This hotel is chique AND fun. Most personnel is on a 'learning experience' and still in some type of hotel related education whilst working at the hotel. So the chances are that something goes wrong, but it is always solved or corrected in a fast and nice way. Everyone is very enthousiastic to be there and to learn.
  • – Why does everyone address you in English first? Even when they must know you are Dutch. I think that it a minor point, but when in Amsterdam/Holland, the first language is still Dutch despite all the English spoken all around.

  • – Very Poor service at desk - you should not be handed a folder when asked to recommend a restaurant. you should tell guests what services are available at front desk.. you should make guests aware if something like a wedding is taking place in the hotel whilst staying there.. room should not have a welcome card for another guest in room that also stays for the 3 days of stay... when bags are in being held at reception on last day - make sure you label correctly so you give back the right bags. Hotel staff should be able to use the printer or explain how it works etc.... Poor room turndown service/daily clean - toiletries should be replaced

Great staff, value & service = my best stay ever in Amsterdam
  • + Great service and welcome from a very helpful and enthousiastic staff. Nice room with excellent bathroom I was totally surprised at the how good this hotel is - especially considering the competative cost.
  • – Tell the staff that if a foreigner trys to speak Dutch, it is not always necssay to reply in English.

Fabulous weekend luxury
  • + As soon as we arrived, even though it was 11.30pm, we were greeted by a very welcoming receptionist who effieciently checked us in and directed us to our room. The corridors leading to our room are beautifully decorated and felt really luxurious - exposed brickwork and high gloss black wood. As we entered our room, we were greeted by a very light and airy space, oriental in design. The bathroom was equally tasteful and a delight to use with the heated tiles underfoot !!! The pleasure of our stay began with the presentation of a lovely desert biscuit in a cute cake stand ....... it is this care and attention to small details that really puts a smile on your face. Well done x x
