The College Hotel is conveniently situated near the Museumplein. Although there is a tram stop in front of the hotel, by means of a pleasant stroll you can reach several areas of interest with ease. Amsterdam's concert hall the Concertgebouw and numerous museums are situated within a 300 meter radius.
The College Hotel houses in a former school building from 1894, which stems from the same architectural period as the Rijksmuseum. The style can be recognised easily and the building rightfully enjoys a monumental status. The design of the architect and the interior designers homage the past but at the same time the amenities meet all modern standards. The high ceilings, fireplaces and stretching staircases add character to the hotel. The rooms are equipped with a bathroom with shower and toilet, airconditioning, telephone with direct line, flatscreen television, wireless internet, safe, minibar and bathrobe with slippers.
The neighbourhood is blessed with many restaurants, bars and a vivid nightlife, although culture-seeking guests will certainly enjoy the surroundings. The Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum are situated at the nearby Museumplein. The beautiful Vondelpark is easy to reach as well. In the P.C. Hooftstraat shopping enthusiasts can indulge in trendy extravagance. This street forms a nice passage to the city centre, although tram connections will shorten long strolls.
Food and Drinks
Breakfast is served between 07:00 and 10:00 h. during the week and from 07:30 to 10:30 h. during the weekend.
The restaurant is situated in the former gymnasium. Here guests can enjoy traditional Dutch cuisine with a trendy touch. From Monday to Saturday the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and on a daily basis for breakfast. In the lounge and the beautiful courtyard with terrace you can enjoy a cup of tea or a refreshing cocktail. After a restyling the terrace was voted the 44th best terrace in the Netherlands. The private salons can be used for business meetings as well as private meetings.

Surroundings

I was totally surprised at the how good this hotel is - especially considering the competative cost.

- Fabulous weekend luxury
- As soon as we arrived, even though it was 11.30pm, we were greeted by a very welcoming receptionist who effieciently checked us in and directed us to our room. The corridors leading to our room are beautifully decorated and felt really luxurious - exposed brickwork and high gloss black wood. As we entered our room, we were greeted by a very light and airy space, oriental in design. The bathroom was equally tasteful and a delight to use with the heated tiles underfoot !!!
The pleasure of our stay began with the presentation of a lovely desert biscuit in a cute cake stand ....... it is this care and attention to small details that really puts a smile on your face. Well done x x
- Unfortunately we were only able to stay for the weekend and had so much to squeeze in that we didn't get to enjoy the cocktail bar ! Here's to our next stay at this beautiful hotel x x

- mooi hotel en goede sfeer
- zoals ik al bij een andere beoordeling had gelezen was de kamer die ik geboekt had niet meer vrij; dit werd mij niet verteld maar ik werd naar een andere kamer gebracht (lagere klasse); toen ik dit meldde werden er mij wel tal van andere mogelijkheden aangeboden; uiteindelijk goed opgelost door een korting op de kamer die mij toegewezen was. ondanks goede en snelle oplossing was het jammer om mijn verblijf zo te beginnen. goede sfeer in bar van het hotel; kom hier zeker terug.

- fantastisch hotel!
- geweldige service, hele vriendelijke medewerkers, heerlijk bed en bad, prachtige kamer. Fantastisch weekend gehad!
- ben vegetarier en had panini met kaas besteld; kreeg een panini kaas met ham-smaak; bij navraag bleek de ham op het kant-en-klare broodje te hebben gezeten en er dus afgehaald, yak! gelukkig werd het broodje zonder morren meteen omgeruild en kreeg ik eentje zonder ham-smaak!

- Uitstekende ligging, inspirerend design en leuk restaurant.
- Kamers zijn onaangenaam warm en de airco doet het niet in de wintermaanden. Ramen kunnen slechts stukje open. Bedden klein en te hard. Ontbijt slecht.

- Tolles Zimmer, wunderschönes Hotel. Angenehmer Service. Optimal um dort Hochzeiten zu feiern oder als Hochzeitsreise zu nutzen.

- Erg sfeervol hotel, centrale ligging, zeer schoon en netjes. volgend weekend weer!
- Ze hebben geen senior staff, geen echte concierge die zaken kan regelen of weet wat er te doen is.
Ik werd bijvoorbeeld geholpen door een mevrouw die niet weet waar je in de buurt lekker kan eten, "Ik kom niet uit amsterdam, sorry!" was haar antwoord. Jammer, uiteindelijk super gegeten bij het restaurant om de hoek.

- Mooi karakteristiek hotel met veel charme.
- Bij ontvangst (om 15.00 uur) werd meegedeeld dat het hotel was overboekt en dat voor ons bij Novotel kamers in optie waren genomen. Vanwege de aard van het weekend (we hadden twee gasten mee en werden om 16.30 uur verwacht in het Amstelhotel voor een diner) heb ik aangegeven niet te willen vertrekken. Na ruim een uur wachten kregen we tweemaal een superior één persoonskamer voor twee-persoons gebruik, terwijl twee luxe kamers waren geboekt. Aangezien de keuze voor dit hotel heel bewust was gemaakt, vormde de ontvangst en het wachten derhalve een teleurstelling.

- No real minus, but as employees are still students sometimes service takes a little bit longer, but again it is also part of the charm of this great place
