Amazing Location, Rooms need updating though.
  • + It was right in the middle of the city of Amsterdam. When you walk out, you re in the middle of the square and it s near the tram stop of 4, 9 and 14. And these trams take you almost everywhere. A further walk down and you can head to the Flower Market or the shopping district. About 15 min walk towards the Red Light and 20 min walk to Amsterdam Centraal. I think the location just really made up for everything else in the hotel.
  • The place was a little outdated and dirty, but still survivable.
  • * my tip Don t expect too much
  • (Friends)
  • + the location and the kindness
  • -- the towels were in bad condition with gaps... -- there was no carpets in the bedroom or in the toillet. it was necessary, in this time of the year a very cold weather... -- the curtains were in very bad condition.
  • * my tip all the área is interesting ..i amsterdam...

Money thrown away
  • + Close to city center and the location I needed to be during the day.
  • Mouse in the breakfast room. When telling someone of the hotel shoulders where lifted and said Yeah, we know. It s an old place. Even in an old place you can prevent having mice. A lot of fungus spots in the bathroom. Broken laminate. Almost needed a wrench to operate the shower faucet. Loud music from the surrounding nightlife. The whole room looked dirty.
  • * my tip For what it looked like it s a pretty expensive hotel. I would expect this kind of minus points with a hotel I pay 20 - 30 euro s a night not 100.
  • (Young couples)
Was decent.
  • + Was very central
  • No change of linen or towels. Limited breakfast. First night kept awake til 3
  • * my tip The restaurant next door is exceptional
  • (Travelling alone)
good for young people only
  • + Positive was the money back that hotel returned after my unsatisfaction with the hotel.
  • The hotel ia very untidy everywhere including rooms. For those who come to Amsterdam for a disco and crazy stuff, the location is very good otherwise it s very expensive for that conditions. Very unreccommended for families
  • (Other)
fair price for location but not for the quality of hotel.
  • + convenient location where nears the center. fair price with breakfast with toasts and coffee and juice.
  • 1. hotel is located in bar street. very annoy when you try to get some sleep at the night. 2. very small room, can barely walk. 3. bathroom with less shampoo left and few drops of hand soap. 4. bed quilt is not clean.

Weekend at Thorbecke
  • + really central, basic accomodation but didn't expect anything more, got a room as far away form the noise as possible, hot water, TV, clean towels daily, can't complain.
  • Was right above a club and could hear the music through the night, didn;t change the sheet's while we were there, although we did get fresh towels daily, although one day they were obvioulsy running short as we were only given hand towels to shower with! Breakfast was a massive let down too, just toast and preserves, could of done with some bacon or eggs, but again didn't expect any different
  • * my tip most ammenities on your door step, Smokey's was not as bad as i thought it would be
  • (Young couples)

Clean, pleasant staff great location
  • + Very near to all locations nice pleasant staff, really enjoyed this Hotel. Nice warm rooms as weather was very cold overall an enjoyable stay.
  • Can be noisy due to Disco but the back rooms are not to bad. Would love to see some renovations as Hotel needs some improvement in rooms. Breakfast could be a little bit better more options etc.
  • * my tip The Irish pub is very nice lovely grub and a good atmosphere Plenty of Restaurants and shops in the area.
  • (Young couples)
  • + Location is great
  • Sleeping is only possible after 7h in the morning, when the bars are closed!
  • (Friends)
Budget hotel with great location
  • + Great location less than 10 mins walk to dam sq and leidesplein, bars, restaurants and coffee shops on your doorstep.
  • Hotel is above a very busy nightclub that runs until 5am so can be very noisy. Very steep stairs to get up to your room and very thin walls so can hear everyone's conversation. We stayed in an en-suite twin room that was more than enough space however if travelling in a three some of the rooms look pretty tight.
  • * my tip Go across to Cocos ranch, they show every football u could wish for, do good drink promos and have a smoking area.
  • (Friends)
  • + This is a cheap hotel in the middle of Amsterdam, close by tram stations and shops.
  • The hotel is very close by nightclubs and bars, so theres å lot of noise at night.
  • (Young couples)
Want to come back!
  • + Great location! Nice view from the window, big bed and clean bathroom
  • narrow stairs, no smoking inside the room
  • * my tip if not this particular hotel, try to find in this location, it's the best
  • (Young couples)
Best deal in proximity to De Wallen. Check it out!
  • + GREAT location, and tasty breakfast.
  • If you're booked for the first floor, you can hear the bar downstairs (but you do get a porch overlooking the backyard). However, after drinking/walking all day, the noise is hardly an issue.
  • (Travelling alone)
Wonderful hotel in Centre of Amsterdam
  • + Good hotel for this price, good location ,different restaurant and fast food around this hotel , the room are very clean, very friendly and helpfull hostess. It is only 10 or 15 minutes walk from Central Station . I am sure I will book this hotel again when I am in Amsterdam one day.
  • * my tip I recommend to book this hotel specially for back package . Good location, good price, friendly and helpfull hostess. there are different restaurant and fast food around this hotel.
  • (Other)
great location
  • too much stairs
  • (Travelling alone)
small dirty
  • (Travelling alone)
Okay for a short stay
  • + The location is great. It was quite calm when I was there.
  • No light in the shared toilet. No elevator and steep stairs (which is not a problem if you have good legs and are not carrying big and heavy luggage).
  • (Friends)
Price is relatively high for the quality of stay.

Hotel was ok, neither good nor bad!
  • + Hotel was ok! Cleaner than expected. Breakfast better than expected. Located at one of Amsterdams party zones. The price was high, but fair compared to other accomodations
  • Furniture and hotel old and worn off... Very noisy at night due to location Room did not have the hair dryer as described in the booking confirmation Heating did not work
  • (Travelling alone)
The quality matches the price
  • + This hotel is cheap for its very central location. The staff are friendly and obliging. All the key attractions of Amsterdam are walking distance, and the hotel is surrounded by eating and drinking venues, though without being too noisy in the room. Internet access is free, and you can print a page for free (via the reception desk printer).
  • The hotel is narrow and steep with no lift, so anyone with access difficulties would find even the first rooms difficult to get to. The breakfast is rudimentary - brown or white sliced bread with sliced cheese or ham (a toaster is available); coffee, tea and orange juice. My room had no blind over the window, so although the morning light did not bother me, the mosquitos were incessant (I had to have the window open as it was warm and stuffy). Also, breakfast is only served from 08.00, so I missed it 2 of the 3 mornings I was there as I had appointments at 08.30.

Chose another Hotel if you are looking for a livable room.
  • + Location
  • Very Small room for 3 people, no space to walk. Room without openable window.
  • (Young couples)
Hôtel sympa pour un week end de 3 jours
  • + Très bonne situation de l'hotel (juste à côté de la place rembrant). Bon accueil Le prix !
  • Petite chambre Très bruyant jusqu'a 3h du matin (musique des bars)
  • (Travelling alone)
good if you are out of money
  • + Location, you do not see people from the hotel
  • Extremely small room
  • (Families with young children)
Not a romantic or family place to go
  • + Indeed is very located in the city center !
  • very bad hygyene and service. Blanket too small... One of the window of the flat was broken... Very NOISY !!!
  • (Travelling alone)
Thorbecke Hotel
  • + Centrally located, nice old building.
  • Room without window, noisy at night (bar downstairs).
  • (Older couples)
days in Amsterdam
  • + easy to get around from the Hotel
  • There is at bit noisy i the aria,
  • (Young couples)
  • + central location, price (79 EUR) relatively cheap for Amsterdam
  • mouldy bathroom, steep staircases (fairly common in Amsterdam, though), loud nightlife in front of your door (so ask for a back room)
  • (Young couples)
Nice, cheap accomodation in the center of Amsterdam
  • (Young couples)
  • + nice location
  • not really clean, the second day they did not do our room!! lame breakfast, awfull room under the roof asked for a double room and ended up with two twin beds one of which was broken!!!
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Central location, very confortable and close to public transports.
  • Poor hygiene, in particular on the stairs, where the carpet was indeed very dirty. The room was cleaned and new towels were provided after the first night, but the bed was not made.
  • (Young couples)
  • + good location, very nice and kindly service,
  • rooms need renovation, I would not recommand the hotel for longer stay, but for 1-2 nights is OK
  • (Travelling alone)
  • + Clean, in the old town neighborhood
  • terrible small room, more like a prison cell than hotel room, good for one or two days but not more
  • (Young couples)
  • + Nice welcome guy.
  • The carpet floor was old (let's say has never been changed since 30 years !). The beds are not done every day.
