With its central location on the 'Thorbeckeplein', next to the 'Rembrandtplein', the Thorbecke Hotel is within walking distance of many of Amsterdam's tourist attractions. On the 'Rembrandtplein' you will find numerous cafés, restaurants and clubs. In the vicinity there are also many shops, several museums and beautiful monuments. Amsterdam Central Station and the Red Light District can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes or by tram within 5 minutes.

In the Thorbecke Hotel guests can choose between a shared or en-suite room. In the single and double shared rooms you will share the shower and toilet with three other rooms. In the single or double en-suite rooms you will have a private shower and toilet. In addition, all rooms are equipped with a hair dryer, television, telephone and coffee and tea making facilities. Julie Okay for a short stay: 6 February 2011; 7.0; + The location is great. It was quite calm when I was there.; - No light in the shared toilet. No elevator and steep stairs (which is not a problem if you have good legs and are not carrying big and heavy luggage).

John Partington The quality matches the price: 29 August 2010; 8.0; + This hotel is cheap for its very central location. The staff are friendly and obliging. All the key attractions of Amsterdam are walking distance, and the hotel is surrounded by eating and drinking venues, though without being too noisy in the room. Internet access is free, and you can print a page for free (via the reception desk printer).; - The hotel is narrow and steep with no lift, so anyone with access difficulties would find even the first rooms difficult to get to. The breakfast is rudimentary - brown or white sliced bread with sliced cheese or ham (a toaster is available); coffee, tea and orange juice. My room had no blind over the window, so although the morning light did not bother me, the mosquitos were incessant (I had to have the window open as it was warm and stuffy). Also, breakfast is only served from 08.00, so I missed it 2 of the 3 mornings I was there as I had appointments at 08.30.

The back door opened into something like a terrace, which was strewn with cigarette butts and empty pizza boxes. The toilet flush was not working properly. It was extremely noisy during the night because of the club downstairs. I am sure the hotel can do with some good quality windows and doors to make it a little sound proof. The description said that the room has a hair dryer..god knows where was it!!! The pictures of the room on the website are very different from the actual rooms!!! Would not recommend.

Anonymous Voor een low-budget hotel is dit een goede keuze.: 2 February 2012; 8.6; + Zéér vriendelijk personeel! Die mevrouw achter de balie was enorm vriendelijk! Afgezien het een low-budget hotel is en gedeelde toiletten/badkamers heeft, was alles zéér schoon toen ik er was, zelfs in de ochtend zag het er piekfijn uit. Ik ben wel eens in low-budgtet hotels geweest die echt het daglicht niet konden verdragen!; - Het ontbijt was eigenlijk het enige minpunt. Er was kaas en ham te verkrijgen plus zoet beleg, maar het brood was niet lekker. Het was goedkoop brood en werd ook vanuit de zak geserveerd. Ik zou dat anders gedaan hebben en ander lekkerder brood geserveerd hebben.

Anonymous Nie wieder!: 1 February 2012; 3.2; + Lage des Hotels und vielleicht Preis; - Dreckig. Mini Einzelzimmer, kein Telefon, kein Föhn wie im Beschreibung. Frühstück? Lieber draussen Essen! Zentralheizug funktioniert kaum, in Zimmer sehr feucht, die ganze Ausstattung einfach eine Katastrophe! Nie wieder, lieber mehr zahlen aber sicher schlafen!

Anonymous Wonderful hotel in Centre of Amsterdam: 15 January 2012; 10; + Good hotel for this price, good location ,different restaurant and fast food around this hotel , the room are very clean, very friendly and helpfull hostess. It is only 10 or 15 minutes walk from Central Station . I am sure I will book this hotel again when I am in Amsterdam one day.

W. Plant Top locatie in hartje Amsterdam: 29 August 2011; 8.4; + TOP locatie! Vriendelijk personeel. Heerlijke bedden met schoon beddengoed. Ruime douche. De föhn werd op de kamer bezorgd. Géén last van geluidsoverlast gehad van onder gelegen nachtclub. De trappen vielen wel mee. Wij hadden een drie persoonskamer(kamer nr. 15).; - De tv deed het niet, maar we kwamen ook niet om tv te kijken.

It was also a good thing that it was possible to open up the door between our two booked rooms, so it felt like a 2-room apartment.; - There was a nightclub at the entrance floor. We didn't think that it would be a problem cos we were going out to party anyway. But they closed at 0700 in the morning...!!!
