- Hotel Torenzicht Amsterdam, cheap and cheerful
- Very friendly staff, fantastic location.
- Room was slightly worn and could do with a lick of paint, but not really a problem if you just need somewhere very convenient to stay in the centre of Amsterdam.

- Great location, moderate prices given location, happy stay
- Despite being in the Red Light Distract the location is great and easy to find.
Nice 24 hour bar for after hours drinking.
Shared bathroom was quite small on 3rd floor but it was clean and nice.
- Can't smoke in the bar anymore (can smoke outside)
Small rooms for the price (but tidy and good enough)

- Budget Accommodation - Location and Noise
- I wanted to stay centrally and the hotel is very central. The hotel in general was very good value for money.
- The central location was very noisy and if I return to Amsterdam I will not stay in that area again - very little sleep. The hotel would receive more higher marks if the room had not been missing one of the 2 curtains and the rubbish bin had been emptied at least once during my stay. I was unsure about using showers and toilets in the hall but this was not a major inconvenience.

- Location, Location, Location!
- Location was superb, close to coffeeshops, smartshops, redlight district, bars, etc. Excellent friendly staff that assisted us right from the start of our stay. 24 hour bar was the perfect "last stop" each evening with Televisions for viewing sports, etc. Clean rooms.

- Good location, yet rude and bad service. Breakfast is not free!
- Very centrally located, albeit in the middle of the red light district. If you can handle that the location is perfect.
- The only hotel I know where breakfast is only from 9-10 o'clock, impossible for those who came to Amsterdam to work. When I asked for a coffee at 8.45, I was charged 2,20 euros. So really, breakfast is only included if you can meet their impossible schedule. The owner was very rude to me about this.
Also, very small beds (I fell off twice and I am quite skinny). The heating in my room wasn't working. The cupboard was broken.
You can get cheaper hotels in Amsterdam with much better service.

- Everything. I'm 22 and I was looking to be at the center of the action and I was. I'm not a fussy person, the stairs were steep but my friend is disabled and with our help had no problem. Everything was clean and tidy. It was basic but so what? A 24 hour bar. It was perfect. 10 out of 10.

- Check out a Stay at The HTA
- A nice open minded little city.
This is a great inexpensive place in the middle of everything downtown. Great place near the Centrum and to take day trips from (I used mostly a bicycle).
Not a Family Hotel, or Neighborhood.
The 24 Hour Bar gets an A+++.
- Absolutely None with the hotel, the neighborhood, the guests, or the folks who ran the hotel.
But, I am sorry to see that your country is following Amerika down a bad path to a closed society with things like the No Smoking Laws (a minor sympton, but an indicator none the less).
I'd rather see Ventilation than Regulation.

- Good Center City Hotel with Bar!
- Cheap and private. In the center of town and in the middle of the party and excitment! Bathrooms were kept clean and always empty. Beds were pretty comfortable too. Own sink. Tv was bigger then the one we had at home and the channels were decent. Had a refridgerator to keep extra food in. Security was kept with electronic card readers. Over all it was great to have a place to come back to to nap or sleep for that price. It's worth the extra 10 euros for privacy and security then spending the night in a hostel.
- Had to go up and down stairs to get to the bathroom. Room was badly lit. Stairs are VERY STEEP.

- No lift, steep staircase, 3rd floor rooms share a single bathroom, position in the heart of the redlight district may not suit everyone. No bedside lamp and room furniture spartan.

- When your in the 24hr bar and Mr Happy The Cheerful Plump Barman tells you to go to your room 'coz you've had enough (I wasn't nearly as bad as I am most nights of the week!) which was unpleasant. On the whole though you get what you pay for, a bed, a room, a toilet and sink.

- A hotel room that gives you the view with following ladies selling their services nearly 24/7 in their windows down below doesn't sound too encouraging in the beginning, but after a while you do realize that the location isn't that bad for more traditional sightseeing etc.
It's just minutes away from Central Station or the big shopping streets.
Buffet breakfast is good (no vegetables or fruits, though).
- No radio, no TV, no fridge.
Toilet/shower in the corridor (I didn't notice anyone else ever using it, though).
The VERY narrow, steep and complicated staircases are absolutely NO NO for anyone having trouble with legs or balancing. However, if you are young and healthy these are just exciting features.
The place wasn't generally very clean.

- Great location. A quick walk to the Dam and Central Station. Helpful bar staff.
- My room only had one of the flourescent bulbs working, so it was quite dark. Only after a couple of days did I realize I could tap the other bulbs to make them work. Also, there was the constant noise from what I assume was the water heater. Ear plugs were a must. One night, there was no toilet paper in the loo, so I had to go to the bar to get more. However, all in all, worth it.
