Antwerp is a nice blend of historical pinnacles and present day influences. This can be noticed in the trendy environment 'het Eilandje', where Holiday Inn Express Antwerp City North is situated. A stroll along the romantic river 'Schelde' will take you to the old city centre in about 15 minutes. You can go shopping at the 'Meir' street and consequently revitalise on the outside terrace near the impressive 'Onze Lieve Vrouwe' cathedral at the central market place. After this, visit for example the fashion museum 'MoMu' or take a bus to the 'Zurenborg' quarter. The houses here are built in several architectural styles, ranging from gothic, Flemish-renaissance, Classical and Art Nouveau. Especially the 'Cogels-Osylei', the main street, emanates this unique entourage.

*my tipThe restaurant offers excellent meals and the buffet breakfast is excellent
Clean, easy to find but not recommended!
The hotel was -very clean
- easy to find
- good beds (minus= not what we asked for)
- breakfast tasted good (minus= little to choose)
We send a mail (after booking) asking for some information, but didn't get a respons.
Also the employe's where not so friendly, or unfriendly for that matter more like robots whit programmed responses we would like to see some more pro active aproch.
We noticed this on several occaisions. The feeling customer is king didn't come to mind in this hotel,.
Conclusion: we are not inclined to select it again.
Whit kind regards

Not very clean and childfriendly
no clean bathroom, dirty trashbox, to dusty, no good foodservice and not childfriendly.
Brewery visit/ weekend in Anterp.
Good situation. Felt comfortable walking from the hotel, past the docks and down by the river to the Old Town area. Room was clean and roomy.
Handwash in bathroom ran out on day 2 and was not replaced. Some mornings it was difficult to get a table for breakfast due to the volume of people eating.

Breakfast was good (though no bacon or sausage or eggs to order). Bed comfortable.
Wireless Internet not reliable; management did as if it was my problem despite considerable evidence to the contrary. Told I couldn't use phone to dial 0800 number for my international phone card. "Harbor view" is a sliver in between two office buildings. Five bus stops from central station. Toilet (WC) area smelled strongly of urine, even after I asked for thorough cleaning. "Power Shower" actually a water hose. No one at the front desk seemed to care that the accommodations were less than satisfactory. All in all, I originally believed Holiday Inn to be a trusted, quality brand. I know better now.
The reception staff here are always friendly and helpful.
The only minus point whilst we were there is that on the Monday which was a Bank Holiday breakfast was only served till 10am so we missed breakfast altogether by arriving at 10.07.Although the breakfast room was full of families and groups and no business persons there were no dishes for cereal or rolls left and no one offered to get us any.
