Hotel Het Wapen van Leiden lies in the heart of Appingedam, one of the two medieval cities in the province 'Groningen'. The hotel is located adjacent to the remarkable 'Nicolaï' church and is close to the additional attractions of the city. Appingedam has a wealth of monumental (medieval) buildings and the surroundings are marked by its lovely nature. The 'Schildmeer' is only 5 kilometres away from Appingedam. This is an excellent lake to practice many kinds of watersports. If you wish to go on a nice bicycle ride, you can use the hotel's bycicle storage or bycicle rental facilities.
The hotel has 28 rooms, all of which are equipped with comfortable amenities. All the rooms have a television, a telephone, shower, and toilet. Hotel Het Wapen Van Leiden is located on the 'Wijkstraat' in Appingedam, a more than 1.000-year old small city in the east of the province 'Groningen'. It has many historic monuments that are worth visiting, such as the 'Stadsmuseum' (city museum), the 'Nicolaï' church, and the old town hall. The hanging kitchens above the 'Damsterdiep' canal are also very special. In the surroundings of Appingedam there are numerous charming churches and villages built on mounds. The city 'Delfzijl', the 'Eems' harbour, and the islands 'Schiermonnikoog' and 'Borkum' can also be easily reached.
