Surroundings

Fletcher Hotel Rooland lies on the edge of the village Arcen, close to Arcen's thermal baths and near De Maasduinen national park; a vast area of heaths and shifting sands. Arcen's famous landmark is its castle surrounded by beautiful rose gardens. The 'Hertog Jan' brewery and distillery are also popular attractions. Arcen lies close to the German and Belgian borders and cities such as Nijmegen and Eindhoven are also easy to reach.

Food and Drinks

A breakfast buffet is available between 07:00 and 11:00. It is possible to enjoy a lovely dinner in the à la carte restaurant's ambient setting. The restaurant has a view of the Maas Valley and is characterised by fresh daily produce as well as seasonal and regional dishes. For instance, asparagus, mushroom and game dishes grace the menu. The pleasant lounge/bar with comfortable armchairs provides a lovely spot for guests to unwind after a busy day. And on sunny days you can luxuriate on the spacious outdoor terrace.

Good but could be excellent with some work
  • + The rooms are spacious; the hotel has a nice atmosphere and is well placed for someone who wants to be out in the countryside with paths to walk or bike around. The thermal baths close by are apparently popular. Breakfast was good and adequate.
  • – Staff could be better trained in providing information in terms of accuracy and in a courteous form. A hotel can and will sell its products only if it can get recruits out of customers.Minutiae make the difference.
  • * my tip It may help to inform oneself of things to do, such as walking, biking etc. Quite a bit of well laid out biking/ walking paths in the area.

  • + Good clean hotel with plenty of parking facileties nearbij Venlo and Venray. Excellent breakfast buffet. Reduced price ok but the regular price is to high.
  • – In the first way the room price was € 12 more than the booking price. I can't say that it was on purpose and they made an inmidiate correction when I complained.
