Description
Hostellerie Karekietenhof is the first bed & breakfast in the Belgian village Avelgem. Previously, the characteristic building housed a restaurant that was driven by the parents of the current owner. That experience and tradition were passed on, judging by the outstanding hospitality and excellent service. Lovers of peace and luxury are at the right place in this hotel. Aside from enjoying a great night's sleep, you can visit hotel's sauna (at a charge). Naturally, the restaurant is still excellent and has a pleasant bar as well.
All rooms are bright and have a romantic atmosphere. The rooms have a comfortable double bed and a bathroom with shower and toilet. There is television, safe, and there are coffee and tea making facilities. Furthermore, each room has a private terrace. For the sportive guests it's good to know that you can play tennis in the vicinity of the hotel. All guests, young and old, will quickly feel at home in the homely atmosphere of this small-scale hotel.
Food and Drinks
Breakfast is served every morning from 08:00 to 10:00 h. The cozy bar is open for a drink from 18:00 to 20:00 h. The restaurant is open for lunch from 12:00 to 13:30 and for dinner from 19:00 to 21:00.
The owner of the hotel sends out the tastiest dishes from the kitchen. The regional dishes are renowned and for the lovers of eel, this restaurant is a real hit. The dishes are prepared by the standards of the traditional refined cuisine and one can choose from several menus in different price ranges.

Besides walking and cycling one can also go on the water near Hostellerie Karekietenhof Avelgem. In the past, the river Schelde was canalized and now it's a paradise for anglers and water sports enthusiast. Along the banks and dikes of the old meanders and on former rail lines, kilometer-long hiking and biking trails were laid out through forests and along river arms. Those loving history and culture should visit the mill Tombeelmolen van Wavelgem, a beautiful crimson red mill that was repeatedly rebuilt after damage during the wars.
