Hotel De Torenhoeve lies on the western side of the island 'Schouwen-Duiveland' in the nature reserve of Westenschouwen. Visitors can enjoy 330 hectares of trees, sand paths, dunes and far stretching views of the sea. Between the islands 'Schouwen-Duiveland' and 'Noord-Beveland' lies the impressive 'Oosterscheldekering', one of the impressive Delta Works. Those who would like to learn more about this structure can pay a visit to the information centre 'Neeltje Jans'.
Food and Drinks
An extensive breakfast buffet is available at the hotel from 08:30 until 10:00. Restaurant Torenhoeve is established in an atmospheric dune farm dating back to 1820. On the outdoor terrace you can enjoy a view of the Nieuw-Haamstede lighthouse. Local ingredients and seasonal produce including beef and fish take centre stage when creating a menu, which changes on a regular basis.
Reservation is recommended. The restaurant's opening times are: November through March: Thurs-Fri from 17:00 until 21:00, Sat-Sun from 12:00 until 21:00. April through June: Weds-Thurs from 17:00 until 21:00, Fri-Sun from 12:00 until 21:00. July & August: Tues-Sun from 12:00 until 21:00. The hotel's location was within walking distance to the beaches. We came in the early season before everything opened up and still had a wonderful breakfast and warm hospitality. It is right next to the lighthouse and the signs are plentiful-very easy to find by car.

Being an English only speaker posed a problem; however, I think when the hotel is full swing that they have a multi-lingual staff.
