Lovely hotel; the balconies were an excellent feature and the staff very helpful.

I realise it's not the done thing in Dutch hotels, but we English really would massively appreciate tea and coffee making facilities in the room. It's not that we don't want to pay for them at the bar, it's quite simply that a hotel's facilities aren't always open at the times when some of us - my girlfriend in particular - crave a cup of tea!

Excellent hotel and good value for money.

Thids was our second vivist to the hotel and we enjoyed it very much. It is highly recommended for rural Holland and so close to Amsterdam - only a short bus ride away, but offers peace and quiet too. Lovely bar and good food. My daughter celebrated her wedding here and the food was superb. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

My only complaint is the price of the Internet connection. 25 Euro a day is far too expensive - the Golden Tulip only charges 5 Euro for wi-fi onnections.

Excellent hotel - definitely recommended.

The food was superb - we enjoyed an excellent meal with family in the dining room, where the service was very courteous and friendly. The bar is very inviting and relaxing, as is the terrace.We would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to friends.

We are used to very hard beds at home, so perhaps a softer mattress is typical of the Netherlands. As a woman, I would have liked a stronger light in the bathroom over the mirror for putting on make-up, but these are minor flaws.

Standaard, maar wel mooie ruime kamers en prima bedden. Heb de laatste keer kamer 12 gehad en deze kamer heeft veel comfort en ruimte en beviel erg goed. Ga zeker weer boeken en vragen naar deze kamer. Het ontbijt is lekker goedkoop (€ 5,-) en prima verzorgd.

Checking in: Reception misinterpreted the booking and tried to register us "without breakfast". Had to be corrected; attitude unhelpful, surly. Room: tea and coffee making would have been useful. Bathroom: no anti-slip surface in the bath, dangerous. Position of room: sleep disturbed by lorries entering and leaving the premises very early in the morning. Buffet breakfast: hot food ran out, had to wait for re-fill. Wedding breakfast: main meal, not a beef stroganoff as we recognised it.

Excellent choice for travel or business

Only 10 minutes by train from Leeuwarden Centraal, this hotel is located in a relatively quiet town east of Leeuwarden. Much more value for money, spacey and comfortable rooms. Often have rooms available when the usual downtown pigsties are fully booked. Good restaurant, free parking and even free newspaper (dutch).

No mosquito net, although the double curtains help keeping them out most of the time that's no comfort when they're already inside...
