super lage , ansonsten na ja

• + fahrzeugservice, top lage, betten und bad sauber
• – zimmer könnten ruhig etwas gepflegter sein - fleckige stühle und teppichboden - wie in amsterdam üblich komplett überteuert, aber das weiß man ja

• + Sehr freundlicher und kompetenter Service.
• – Stark verschmutzter Teppichboden im Zimmer und fleckige Sitze im Restaurant; Putzrisse im Treppenhaus. Machte insgesamt einen sehr abgewohnten Eindruck.

Komme sicher nicht wieder

• – Das Zimmer roch modrig und die luft war ständig feucht. Wir hatten ein fenster das schaute in einen tristen Innenhof. Das fernsehen war extra zu bezahlen und die mitarbeiter wenig bemüht ernsthafte auskunft über amsterdam zu geben. nicht einmal eine gute adresse zum essen konnte uns genannt werden...

Als Newcomer zu Amsterdam war die Info zu Parkplatz für Autos ungenü

• + Die Lage.
• – 1. Kein Hotelparkplatz. Keine schriftliche Vorwarnung (E-mail), dass das Hotel für Gäste mit Auto nicht geeignet ist. Keine Vorwarnung über die Parkplatzkosten / Nacht usw. Kein wirklicher Sonderdeal um kostengünstig zu parken. 2. Die wassersparenden Brausen am Wasserhahn im Bad ist ein Ärgernis, da zu wenig Wasser kommt. 3. Im Bad ist das WC derart eng eingebaut, dass man nicht sitzen kann. 4. Das Bad besitzt keinen Ventilator. 5. Die Übernachtung ist exkl. Frühstück. 6. Ihre Mail-Nachricht sagte klipp und klar, die Kreditkarte sei nicht belastet worden, diese erfolge im Hotel. Im Hotel war es anders rum: die Bezahlung sei schon erfolgt, ein früheres Verlassen des Hotels ohne Bezahlung des ganzen Aufenthaltes nicht möglich. 7. Eingangsbereich, innen und aussen, sind nicht attraktiv. 8. Die Fotos des Hotels auf dem Internet ist eine Schummelei, das Bild existiert so gar nicht und entspricht nicht der Realität.

Lage super, Preis gehoben

• + super Lage!! Auch die schalldichten Fenster wußten wir zu schätzen ;-)
• – Preis pro Übernachtung ganz schön hoch.

• + Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Ideale Lage für Ausflüge, Coffeeshop- & Shopping-Touren, Nightlife, Museums-Besuche etc. SUPER dass es doch noch ein Hotel gibt, in welchem man "legal" rauchen darf, ein ganzer Teil einer Etage wurde "raucherfreundlich" erklärt. Kann dieses Hotel wirklich jedem bestens weiterempfehlen. Hotel Amsterdam rocks.. wir kommen wieder! :)

• + Sehr gut, zentral gelegen, bequemes Bett, freundlicher Service an der Reception, Gepäck einstellen während des Tages: sehr gut und sicher!
• – Zu teuer! Für diesen Preis (sogar Aktionspreis) sind Zimmer und Badezimmer eindeutig zu klein, man kann sich kaum bewegen! Zimmer Strassengewandte Seite: Fenster schlecht isoliert, viel Stadtlärm am frühen Abend und am Morgen (Nachts ok!).

• + sehr zentrale aber dennoch ruhige Lage, nahe Bahnhof-Central, alle Sehenswürdigkeiten in unmittelbarer Nähe, Besichtigungen gut zu Fuss erreichbar, Personal sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich,
• – Zimmerhygiene und Grösse lassen etwas zu wünschen übrig. Alte Stümpfe lagen, oder liegen noch immer unter dem Kissen des Sessels. Spiegel unsauber. Safe zu hoch eingebaut für normale Leute und Kleiderschrank zu klein für 2 Personen.

• + Hervorragende Lage und äußerst freundliches und hilfbereites Personal (Rezeption/Empfang).

• + I would like to point out firstly the ladies at the rception desk who really did an excellent job in supporting me, secondly the pernonnel in the restaurant is absolutely remarkably friendly. Just like apparently the majority of the Dutch people.

• + Der Service war sehr freundlich, die Lage einmalig und auch so füllten wir uns sehr gut betreut.
• – Das Bad war unbequem, wir hatten Schwierigkeiten ins Bad zu steigen. Darüber hinaus war das Badezimmer eher klein.

• – The room was very cramped. it was difficult to move there, there was very little floor space.I could have understood this if it had been a budget room but it was a comfort room. The toilet was also very narrow and so was the shower.

Ask for the Renovated Superior Room

• + Restaurant service and food very good.
• – I booked 2 Superior rooms. One was superior and acceptable, but the other was up a narrow flight of stairs (no one offered to help with suitcases) and the room was not identical to the first "superior" room. I was expecting that the rooms would be identical in size if not in layout. They were not of the same value yet we were charged the same price. When asked about the discrepancy, we were advised that the inferior room was deemed as superior but hadn't undergone renovations ye
• * Mein Tipp if booking superior room, ask if it is one that has been renovated or not.

Another good stay in Amsterdam

• + I was in a newly remodeled room this time which was very nice, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is very convenient to both the train station and the sights; it's just around the corner from Dam Square and about a ten minute walk from the station which is at the end of the street.
• * Mein Tipp If you need wireless internet, ask for an id and password at the desk. The interface will come up with an option to enter a last name and room number to charge internet to your room, but that doesn't work - the access is free with the code.

Quick stay in Amsterdam

Lone Traveller

• + This hotel is in the perfect location. The staff are friendly and the hotel was extremely accomodating when dealing with any queries I had prior to my arrival.

• + Exceptionally well located within easy walking distance of Central Satation (five blocks up Damrak), great bars and restaurants and the Red Light District, same quailty rooms as nearby hotels that are prcied much higher.
• – The senior staff in the hotel restaurant were "haughty" (while the junior staff were exceptionally nice a pleasant).

Would stay there again.

• – Breakfast was very poor, surprisingly no vegetable, no choice. In the room was very cold. Air conditioning is only cooling even if temperature is 25°C. Bathroom is not well designed with glass door opposite the bed and very small. One towel had dirty spots.

• – The room was small but that's normal for hotels in Amsterdam. If you don't like small rooms go to the Marriot for 3 x the price.

• – smallest bathroom I have ever been into. Shower water on the floor was a concern. Indicating that internet access was a chargable item was odd, especially when it did not incur a charge. Maybe this needs to be clarified for guests. Perhaps the charge is for those using hotel computers and not for wi-fi users

Convenience in amsterdam

• + Location - right around the corne from Dam Square, directly across the street from the Bijenkorf department store and just up the street from Centraal Station. It's convenient for sightseeing in the city or for going out and exploring in the trains. The restaurant is also good and there are many other options within walking distance. The staff are efficient. I've stayed here many times and plan to again.

• + Convenient to Centraal Station and the old town - just around the corner from Dam Square. Good breakfast. Efficient staff. I have stayed here many times over the years and will continue to do so.

• – For a price of EUR 200 per night incl. breakfast I expected better quality. Shabby furniture, old and dirty carpet and - pls ask your cleaning ladies to clean the whole toilet. I lifted the toilet seat and was shocked! Since it was very late and I was tired I did not bother to contact reception. This was my first and last stay at your hotel, although I come to Amsterdam on business trips frequently. Sorry.

• – no parking, some company has been called by hotel stuff to pick-up my car, there were some sweets in one of the boxes in the car, all of them have been stolen !!!

Solid Two-Star Hotel at Four-Star Prices

• + The location is very central. Rooms are basic but adequate. Nothing amazing, just your basic European city hotel.
• – The hotel is too expensive. If the price were 40% less, it would be a good buy. And they really gouge you on the extras: 15 euros a day for Internet? In this day and age, wifi and Ethernet access is free in good hotels. Breakfast in the hotel is 29 euros--should be included. Fortunately there are decent breakfast options a few blocks away, but still.

Comfortable but it smells stale

Disappointing and over-priced!

• – I was so disappointed. The first room I had smelt so badly of cigarette smoke and damp. On the nl form I had requested a non smoking room. If a non-smoking room is not available the hotel should be termed as full. I then when I wanted to change a room they only had a suite available which i had to pay to upgrade to. I am so disappointed and angry that I should have to pay so much and get so little. It's a disgrace. I travel so much and to find a hotel claiming to be four star is astounding. The only reason I did not move hotels is they were all full.

• – Bathroom door would not open properly due to bed in the way. The room was dary as it backed into the inner quadrangle. Very small bath with access difficult and quite dangerous getting in and out. Not the fault of the hotel, but too many beggers and not very nice people in that area. Amsterdam is becoming dirty with a culture (or lack of it) for drinking and unsociable behaviour As I visit on business, I will not stay in this area again

• – Room 216 (where we stayed) although quiet as requested the bath/shower was dangerous for a 64 year old such as myself to get in & out of (I notice that the room above was being modenised in this respect presume that would also be done eventually.

• + Thank you for the early check-in! We needed to sleep. Location is the best. Easy access to public transportation and thus all of the local sites. Excellent restaurant on the premises.
• – American's have an exchange rate problem. 200 Euro's a night is probably not bad, but with the exchange rate at 1.34:1, the cost is $268, which is high for a hotel room in the US. Nothing you can do about it, however.

• – booked comfort b high price band for two males room was small glass fronted toilet area with toilet in centre of door which offered no privacy

• – the room smelled really bad i suspect something was wrong with the toilet. The low confort score was due to two effects from the same problem one day of the visit the hot water system failed not allowing hot water and on another night the system failed again causing an evacuation alarm at about 4 am, not very comfortable having to get up and dressed at that time of the night.

• – One of the front desk staff was rude. Internet not working properly and epxensive.

• + Location was superior and the included breakfast was a great start to each day. The porter was spectacular, the front desk staff was friendly and the waiters were good. About 100 feet from Amsterdam's center (Dam Square). Very comfy beds which is unusual for Europe. Lights worked with your a key card thing right by the door so you always knew where your key was. Well designed windows virtually eliminated sound from the square. Right on the red light district and just a short walk from the flower district, the Anne Frank house and Central Station.
• – Room size. No hot tub or workout room but apparently that's typical for Europe. Ever so slightly dirty wallpaper but perhaps I'm just being picky as I would stay there again and the rest of the room was immaculate.

• + If you want to be in the midst of tourist mania, the location is good. If you're in town for a very short stay and need a reasonably-priced hotel on short notice, it's fine. If you prefer a more scenic or romantic stay, or will spend more than two nights in town, find a more peaceful location. The staff is very good and responsive.
• – Very small rooms for the price. No ammenities (no gym, no business office). A 3rd floor "ironing room" is a tiny retrofitted bathroom that requires you to stand in the hallway to iron clothes. Feels like a budget hotel in over-crowded Dam Square. Another review of this hotel states "nice pool", but there is none.

• + Fantastic location for a first visit.Next to DAM square
• – Breakfast not worth it.Small rooms.Far too expensive at 210 euro per night not worth bothering unless you get a deal.

• + The swimming pool is nice, the restaurant excellent and the location quite near to the Keukenhof.

• + We liked the location and thought the breakfast was excellent. Also the comfort of the beds where good. The people on reception where lovely and would help us out on what ever we asked
• – We did not like the glass doors on the bathroom as there was no privacy.Also very small lift which took a long time to come in the mornings when the rooms where being cleaned and the maids where using them as well

• + Great maid service! Left the room at 8am each morning and it was clean before 10am each day of my 9 night business trip. Gave me extra coffee, no charge. Perfect location. Sound proof windows! Got me checked in before noon. My 5th stay at this hotel, and will stay again.
• – expensive, but competitively priced. Insanely high priced internet, movies, and laundry. Slightly over rated at 4 stars, but this is the same at EVERY hotel in Holland.

• + i always appreciate a large bathroom in a hotel. the furniture (a small couch, 2 armchairs, 2 small tables, in addition to a desk with a chair) made me feel very at home in this room. international phone calls made from my room were very reasonable. the red wine in the mini-bar was very good, and the breakfast was fantastic! (although i think the breakfast should have been included in the price of the room). i appreciated the convenience of being able to use high-speed online services in the business center. i was happy that the hotel allowed me to store my luggage there, free of charge, for the 3 hours of free time i had after checkout before travelling to the airport. and the staff, for the most part, was very helpful and friendly.
• – my biggest complaint with my room was its inadequate soundproofing. i stayed in a superior suite. as i'm sure you're aware, kalverstraat (the "shopping street" at the back of the hotel) is quite noisy, often even at night, and the window of my room did not protect me from that. i could hear my neighbor snoring one night, and i could hear people tramping around on the floor of the room above me. for the price i paid for my room, (the average price for 5 nights was approximately 163 euros per night), this was unacceptable. the restaurant was average. also, sparkling water should be offered as a part of the breakfast. more importantly than all of the above, i travelled alone as a gay man in amsterdam, and i didn't appreciate unfriendly attitude of your night shift concierge when i returned to the hotel at 4 am or 5 am. I didn't come to amsterdam to be a puritan! perhaps employees of the hotel should be screened to make sure they don't harbor small-minded, provincial attitudes which are not in keeping in with the spirit of amsterdam. for that reason, i believe this hotel is an inappropriate place to stay for a gay man like myself who is living a liberated gay lifestyle. the next time i stay in amsterdam, i will stay in a hotel further from the center. i am more than willing to sacrifice the convenience of the hotel's location. i know there are options that are more economical, as well as more spacious and quieter. staying nearby the dam was not worth it for me.

• + Overal lekker dicht bij. Prima op loopafstand te doen. Ontbijt was super net als de service! Op de uitcheck dag mochten we onze spullen nog achter laten bij de balie om de stad in te gaan. Bedden waren heerlijk.
• – Kamer en badkamer waren iets aan de kleine kant, maar had wel alles wat het nodig had. Dat was ook het enige minpuntje.
• * Mein Tipp Prima hotel. Voor een volgende keer zouden we zeker weer boeken.

• + moins de dix minutes à pied de la gare centrale et sur l'angle du Dam. Très bonne situation pour les différentes visites et le tram est à la sortie de l'hotel.Le personnel de l'acceuil est très agréable et souriant.
• – Ce n'est pas un 4 étoiles tout juste 3. Il faut d'abord le trouver à coté de la brasserie qui porte le meme nom.(pas d'indiquation de l'hotel depuis la rue) Le tapis de la chambre (qui donne sur un mur) est très défraichi. Le petit déjeuner se résume à très peu de chose et coute 15 euros par personne. Ouf délifrance est juste à coté avec un peit dej à 7.50euros jus de fruit frais inclus.

• + Vriendelijke en behulpzame en geduldige medewerkers. Er was een rookkamer. De ramen konden lekker open. Het was erg schoon. De bedden waren heerlijk. We mochten al eerder in een kamer die al klaar was en konden nog een dag de tassen laten staan na het uitchecken.
• – Dacht dat ik een kamer met bad gevraagd had maar kreeg zonder. De douche van kamer 410 was qua ruimte en inrichting een aanfluiting. Bij het douchen werd de hele badruimte plus toilet kletsnat. Wat je alleen kon drogen met de handdoeken. Een beetje gezet iemand had niet onder de douche gepast laat staan op het toilet. Het ontbijt was erg gewoontjes voor 15,- p.p.

Vriendelijk maar erg duur.

• + Wij verbleven 1 nacht in dit hotel. De centrale ligging maakt het perfect voor een stedentrip. Het restaurant is bijzonder sfeervol en we hebben er heerlijk gegeten (zonder een vermogen kwijt te zijn). Het ontbijtbuffet bood ook volop keuze. Vriendelijk personeel.

• – Ik heb een week voor aankomst geboekt voor 7 nachten, ik heb daarvoor € 1025,- voor betaald, vlak voor vertrek zag ik dat de zelfde kamer € 875.- voor de zelfde periode kost, ik heb hier mijn beklag over ingediend, men kon er niets meer aan doen, zelfs gratis ontbijt kon er niet van af. Ik had kamer 301 naast de lift zeer storend.

• – Problemen met booking. Had vooruit betaald. Dat kon men niet vinden bij inchecken. Bij uitchecken zelfde probleem. Dat vond ik vervelend. Er werd ook niets gedaan om overlast te compenseren. Had wel een kopje koffie of zo willen hebben terwijl men dit uitzocht. Dat had vriendelijk geweest.

• + - heel centrale (drukke) ligging maar binnen toch heel rustig; - gezellig restaurant; - geen overdreven grote maar gezellige kamers met mooi vernieuwde badkamer
• – - internet via de tv werkt niet helemaal zoals je zou verwachten

• + Aangenaam en vriendelijk personeel. Handig dat je de bagage bewaakt kunt achterlaten na het uitchecken.
• – Ontbijt werd niet aangevuld. Toen wij om 8.45 uur gingen ontbijten, lagen er nog slechts 2 broodjes. Wel voldoende gewoon brood en beleg. Glazen deur van de badkamer is niet prettig.

• + plus = vriendelijkheid en service min kamer 4e verdieping oud met verrot kozijn, hoort niet zo te zijn bij een hotel op dit niveau

• – wij wilden graag eten in het restaurant,maar er zijn geen plaatsen voor niet rokers . dit vinden wij geen goede service.

• + Ontvangst/Service waren zeker pluspunten
• – Toch ietwat kleine kamers, die niet aan alle 4 sterren-eisen voldeed. Zo was er maar één fauteuil, in plaats van twee. Ook de badkamer was wat kleiner. Alles was schoon, op hoekjes en randjes na, die konden wel een beurt gebruiken. Wel voor herhaling vatbaar. Ook ontbijt was heerlijk.

• – Slecht te bereiken met auto, erg duur parkeren bij de Bijenkorf. 24 Euro voor een paar uur (2 uur t/m 9 uur).

• + Hotel in middle of the city. Restaurant: very OK, Service OK, Prices OK.
• – Central heating did not operate(there was an additional heater but working with electricity only so we had to use the roomkey as well during the whole day). Bathroom: Missing is an additional table for toiletbags etc.

• – Geen verlichting om in bed te lezen.

• + Natuurlijk de ligging. beter kan niet.
• – een beetje vergane glorie, al is alles wel schoon en het werkt.

• + De ligging van het hotel is prima, zit midden in de stad. De tv is goed te bedienen, goed bedacht systeem en het werkt ook nog.
• – De kamer is compact ingericht, slim bedacht, maar toch wel heel klein, wat het comfort toch een beetje in de weg staat. Je hebt geen ruimte om echt even te zitten, zit wel heel benauwd tussen bureau en bed.

• + De ideale ligging in hartje Amsterdam

• + Restaurant: Mooi/gezellig ingericht, prima eten en bijzonder prettige bediening!
• – Prijs/kwaliteit: Helemaal niets mis met dit hotel, maar dan nog is ¤200,00 per nacht wel erg veel geld!

• – 2 kamers reserveren en dan krijg je ze op verschillende verdiepingen. de prijs is te duur voor wat je terug krijgt ontbijt buffet er is meer leeg dan dat er vol is.ze hadden mij dit hotel aanbevolen maar als ik alles geweten had was ik verder gaan zoeken .

• + Perfecte ligging in het centrum van Amsterdam met tramhalte voor de deur.
• – Kleine, donkere kamer met uitzicht op een blinde muur. Badkamer was zo mogelijk nog kleiner en de badkamerdeur kon niet geheel open (duwde tegen het bed).

• – Jammer dat wij midden in de stroomuitval zaten en met een aansteker door de gangen moesten lopen naar de kamer. Dit is uiteraard overmacht ook voor de roode leeuw. Echter had kaarsjes op de kamer en of "gratis" ontbijt op bed cq. reductie op de totaal prijs veel goed gemaakt.

• – geen bad ook al hadden we daar speciaal om gevraagd en al bij de boeking aangegeven.

• – toen wij begin maart in t hotel zaten waren ze het restaurant aan t verbouwen. we hadden daar niet zo'n last van alleen 's avonds kon je niet even wat drinken.
